Chapter 1

Remus got home from work. He looked shattered. Sirius waltzed into their shared bedroom, trying to cheer up Remus - it didn't work.

"Can you stop acting like a child for ONCE and go take care of our actual child?!" Remus snapped. He had obviously had a bad day, but Sirius wasn't taking him very seriously... As usual.

"Teddy's fine, he's sleeping in his crib. He's got his teddies and his blanket. He's comfy," Sirius replied, just wanting to have fun with his boyfriend.

"SIRIUS! You NIAVE fuck! Do you know anything about children?!" Remus stormed out of the bedroom and rushed into Teddy's bedroom. He quickly took away all the teddies and blankets. He didn't even care if he bothered his one year old.

"What are you doing?! You're gonna wake him up!"

"What am doing? More like what have you done?! Why are you putting blankets and teddies in his crib?"

"Cause it's adorable!"

"Sirius. If you weren't my boyfriend and this boy wasn't attached to you, you'd be dead. And I mean that."

"Jeez. Calm down," Sirius said. He was acting like a total prick.

"Just learn how to take care of a kid instead of trying to start a stupid fucking band all the time!"

Remus stormed out of the room after picking up teddy. Once Remus had slammed the door, Sirius started laughing. Why did he always have to be amused by the most serious things?

But then Sirius started panicking.

Am I really not good enough? Why can't I just do this one thing right?! Why is Remus so mad? Does he hate me-?

Sirius' overthinking was interrupted by the sound of the door creaking open. He turned around and saw Remus' red, teary-eyed face poking into the room. Sirius gave a little smile, as if to apologise. Remus was holding something, but Sirius couldn't see it properly through his glossy eyes. Remus must've noticed this, as he helped Sirius see the objects by bringing them closer to him.

Yes, Remus did do this by lobbing the objects at Sirius, but it still could've been seen as a nice gesture. Once Sirius had recovered from the objects being thrown at his head, he looked at them. They were books - that was nice. Remus knew Sirius was wanting to start reading more.

Oh. They were self-help and parenting books.

That's nice that he wants to help me... I guess.

The next day, Remus found Sirius in the kitchen, preparing some breakfast for Teddy. The parenting book was out, open, and on the dinner table. It was more than half way open and was next to a half drunken cup of coffee. Along with about seven more mugs in the dishwasher.

Remus looked at Sirius. He tried to sound cold and mean, "hey."

"Hey," Sirius replied, sounding exhausted. His bloodshot eyes staring at the food he was preparing for teddy. He had finished now, and was putting it on a plate.

"I'll give it to him, or is the childish food for you?" Remus said, sounding quite monotone on purpose. He didn't want to insult Sirius, but he couldn't pass up the opportunity.

Sirius ignored Remus' comment and shakily handed him the plate. Remus noticed how pasty Sirius' skin was - not that he wasn't usually extremely pale.

Remus went into the living room, where Teddy was sat, and gave him the food. Remus put on some random kids show and went back into the kitchen.

Sirius was sat back down at the dinner table, reading the parenting book and sipping another mug of coffee. Remus snatched the book out of his hand and threw it in the bin. "Sorry."

"For?" Sirius asked, his voice coarse.

"Being a prick... Even though you were too."

"Sorry. Wanker." Sirius replied. He always felt the need to call people wankers as a joke - especially Remus.

It felt a bit impossible for Remus to get mad at Sirius - they were both lacking about 28 hours of sleep, if that's possible - so he just ignored the snarky comment.

"And no more coffee, you're gonna have a heart attack." Remus swiftly snatched the mug out of Sirius' grasp.

"Is Teddy alright?"

"Yeah, he's just watching Ben and Holly, I think. I hope it's not changed to that stupid blue dog show..." Remus sidetracked.

"That show is gonna rot his bloody brain."

"It's so stupid! It's literally gonna condition him into being a furry!"

"Yeah - but what I did was stupid and I'm sorry." Sirius said, ending the conversation. "I'm going to bed," he croaked.
