Locked up
Once upon a time there were six Kingdoms in the land of Hogwarts living together in peace, but then the three dark kingdoms attacked and everything changed. Only a group of rebels will be strong enough to defeat them and bring back the peace and prosperity the land of Hogwarts once held.
Only they could end the 42-year-long war.
But it all started with one boy. James Potter. He was the heir to the throne in one of the six kingdoms. There were the kingdoms Potter and Mckinnon, which were the light ones. But there is always a counterpart. To every good part, there must also be an equally bad part. The dark kingdoms were Black, the most noble and rich of all, Rosier and Crouch. Only one kingdom, the kingdom of Lovegood, maintained a neutral status.
Little James Potter, only 17, did not want a life in a cage full of noble balls and fine people. He wanted to be free, to experience adventures but as the only child of his parents Fleamont and Euphemia Potter he was required to stay, to be the perfect and kind king his parents wished for.
So one night when there was one of these balls James despised so much, he climbed out of the window in his room and ran off into the night. He had chosen this particular occasion because there weren't as many guards around the castle as usual. He couldn't bear the thought of getting caught and needing to explain himself to his surely disappointed parents. If he was caught, he probably wouldn't get a chance of running away ever again. His parents were nice and kind, but also very protective and dutiful.
So James went with the only opportunity he saw. He left everything behind. He didn't even think of bringing food or a fresh pair of clothes.
While he was running for his proverbial life, he thought of stealing a mid-sized ship, as there wouldn't be any guards this late. So he rushed to the shore without being seen and ran up the first best ship he could find. Then he rembered that he didn't even know how to steer a ship. Well, he simply had to learn it then. There was no going back now.
He pulled up the anchor and off he went. He was a few hours and a few miles away from his former kingdom when he became starving. He facepalmed himself on the inside when he remembered that he had packed nothing. Not even money. As he saw the shore of another kingdom approaching, he had an idea. Maybe he could just steal some food. He wasn't a big fan of stealing, but sooner or later he would starve, so he was fine with it this time.
As he was approaching the shore, the ship was wobbling more than before. He felt as though he was about to throw up. "Get yourself together" he heard his inner voice speaking. And just then he saw why it was rather appropriate getting himself together. The pier was coming nearer and nearer, and he didn't know how to place the ship without crashing it.
His common sense was telling him to take down the sails, to slow down. That's what he did. The ship was coming to a stand. Shakier than he had wanted, but that would have been a bonus. Happy that he finally stood on a solid floor, he walked straight to the market, where they sold fruit and freshly baked bread.
He was getting nervous since he never had to steal things and therefore never did. He walked over the polished stone floor into the market with so many people. James never felt more at home than at this moment, surrounded by people. Most of them were so very poor and dirty that it made him sick. He had never seen people like that and was getting angry at his parents for never showing him. Back at the castle, they were so wealthy they didn't even know what to do with the money, but here… oh how he could have changed things. Now it was too late.
He was torn from his thoughts when an ugly, stinking man pulled a red-headed girl with him. They were both screaming, but nobody seemed to care. So he was following them quietly, waiting for the right moment to approach. When the man was turning right to get to another street, James shouted: "Let her go!", which obviously didn't do much.
By now, James decided of attacking him physically. He stood before him and rammed his elbow into the ugly mans stomach.
The ugly man let go of the girl, who quickly ran away. James thought that his work was done. He was feeling his chest fill with pride as he was happy to have helped someone in need. Well, when he was turning around the corner, there were black clothed guards capturing him as well as the girl who apparently didn't make it far. The black clothing meant that they were at the kingdom of Black, he noted. And now he was dragged into the dungeon of his hereditary enemy. Alone. Well, with the girl he didn't even know the name of.
The guards harshly threw them into a dusty, little cell. James' head hit the stone wall, which caused a stinging pain right at the back of his head. "Oi, what was that for?!", he shouted without expecting an answer. As he was grabbing the back of his head, he felt something wet. He quickly looked at his hand, which was full of blood.
"God damn it. That was just unnecessary.", he groaned in a whisper. "Are you hurt?", he asked the girl exhausted, tilting his head in her direction, which made his head hurt even more. "Yeah, I'm alright, bud. But look at you", the girl said with worry in her voice. "Let me see.", a voice suddenly said. "I'm something of a doctor, you know.", the beautiful black girl continued.
Just at this moment, James and the red head had noticed her. It made the red haired girl flinch for a second. She went out of the way to get the new girl a better view of James' head. "Ahh, well. That's a laceration wound. I can treat it with my ointment, which unfortunately isn't here. Don't lean your head against the wall. It will get infected, and we really don't need that right now.", the girl spoke the obvious. "I'm Mary by the way.", she said holding her hand out to James, smiling more sad than happy. "James.", he took her hand hesitantly and tried to smile back despite his pain. "And you are…?", he asked the red haired girl. "I'm lily." She replied, looking away from both of them, curling herself up in the corner of the cell.
