Chaos Theory - Magic and Mystery (FUSE!)
Summary
"..Are you ready, Dazai-san?""Ready as I ever be."Or: me combining two of my favorite fanfics together.Got this idea from the magic and mystery discord server (thanks to those who enjoyed it! You guys are swell >.<) And I can't hold the urge any longer to write it..
Note
Spoilers for Chaos Theory!!I suggest you to read it first (Along with Magic and Mystery and Coil!!), but it'll be fine to read this on its own..? I think? If Allegory or Tessa wants me to took this down, I'm fine with it >.< But this is mostly made only for entertaining purposes. For those who are curious, this is basically me putting the Magic and Mystery fellas into Chaos Theory setting, some (lots) of things would be different, but this would mostly stay as a short scene since I'm not really good at writing a full plot, it's draining and I'm not in a good condition to do so... Sorry >n<Another thing! I haven't watch HP in a long time so there would be some inconsistencies.. I deeply apologizes for that :(

[Scene Two, Christmas, - Year 1]

Dazai didn't go back to Yokohama after the incident with Professor Quirrel yet.

After the brunette reported some of the things that he managed to collect, such as the philosopher stone and whatnot, Mori seemed to be pleased enough that he let the boy to have a few days break in Hogwarts before coming back to Japan.

Despite him acting all grumpy and dramatic about it to his friends, he won't deny that he is very much glad that the doctor let him stay a little bit longer. Sure, the tension that he created in here made people fear and cower, he can manage those just fine.

His Friends Lackeys are fun to hang out with, but unfortunately most of them, just like the other students, returned to their respective homes at this time. Due to that, the select amount of people that he can meet is now limited, let alone talk to, since most of the occupants at Hogwarts is wary of him after what happened.

That leaves arguably 4 people whom he can greet, without it being too akward. And that is Blaise, Ron, and The twins.

..Though, His Relationship with the Other Gryffindors are strained at best. Because first, he is a Slytherin and apparently Gryffindors and Slytherins shouldn't be around each other- which he thinks that's a lot of bullshit. And second, because of The Quirrel thing. Sure, Dazai is suicidal, but he's not stupid. he knows that it won't do any good to his fellow lions, so better to stay away for now..

That means only Blaise is available to him.

Which is fine, he didn't mind. Blaise is entertaining enough that the brunette didn't need to rope more people into their conversation anyway.

The two boys are currently sitting comfortably in the Slytherin common room, playing chess together. Most of their fellow snakes went back to their place, so it's okay for them to talk freely about whatever they had in mind. And if there's still some of them around, those little children sure know better than to walk near Dazai.

Placing the white pawn on e4, a way of starting the game, Blaise stared at the piece carefully, admiring the shape before the boy turned his head on dazai.

"..So, Any reasons why you're going back to Yokohama yet? I thought that you would take a leave early after what happened."

He tilted his head, brown eyes sparkled in curiosity.

Dazai would be lying if he said that his heart didn't speed up for a bit after seeing them gleaming beautifully like that.

"Literally or Philosophically?"

The brunette asked back, smirking as he move his black pawn to e5. The good ol opening, this can go in many ways that it makes him feel giddy. Maybe Blaise will put his knight on f3? He seems to be the guy who do that. Though there's also another possibility, but he's not the type of person to play so aggressively, that title would go to Ron.

"Literally."

Knight on f3. Ah, he was right then. The next move would be black Knight on c6, and Blaise would go with Bishop on b5, then pawn a6..

"Well, There's nothing fun that I can do in Yokohama! Plus, I want to explore this Place more~"

Dazai clapped his hands. While his reason is true, there's actually more into it. While he was burdened with tons of responsibilities as the 'spy' or whatever, it's also that he didn't want to be met with Mori's scapel and calloused fingers anytime soon. His experiments are not fun to deal with, and he will proudly say that he would sell his liver just to get away from the man for 10 minutes.

..okay, maybe a liver is a bit much, a kidney maybe?

"..Right.."

Blaise smiled amusedly, didn't seem to move any piece on the board. Instead, he reaches one of his pockets, revealing a small piece of book.

"Hold on, Have to undo the spell since I put a shrinking charm into it."

The black haired boy sighed, pulling it his wand and pointing it at the tiny book. A few flicks, one, maybe two, and after that, the book grows, turned into it's normal size.

The book has a green leather cover, the size was around as big as his head, if Dazai had to calculate it. It stands proudly on the table, as the word 'Potions For dummies' was written in Cursive.

...

"Ehh?? Blaise? What is this?"

Dazai blinked in confusion. Didn't seem to get the sudden gesture. Is this a joke? A gift? Just a show? Judging by the day- Winter break, near Christmas, that is, It's probably a gift for the brunette. And while he understands the concept of giving someone else a present during the day of the Christ, it's still a surprise, a shock to see someone actually dare to do it for him.

That couldn't be. No one has ever gave him something at Christmas before, not even Mori. Maybe it's not for him, and Blaise just want to check some stuff with the boy? Should he take the book? It didn't radiate any magic on it, that means it's safe. But then why did Blaise show it to him?-

"It's a gift for you."

Blaise calmly explained, didn't seem to be bothered by Dazai's reaction. Silently panicking over a potions book.

"Since you won't be around at Christmas, I think I should give your present early. Hope this would stop you from keep exploding Professor Snape's cauldron."

...

Oh.

Dazai stares at the book intensely. Grabbing the heavy thing in a delicate and careful way that he never done so at anything else before.

The common room was filled with silence for a good seconds, before a laugh can be heard, escaped from Dazai's lips.

Frowned at the action of his friend, Blaise frowned. As the laugh keeps going and going, echoed through the room.

"..is everything okay, Dazai? Is it bad? If yes then, uh.. I guess I can-"

"B-haha! Silly Blaise! I can't believe that My first Christmas gift is a book about potions of all things.."

Dazai cutted him off. Wiping his tears as he pulled the book close, admiring it fondly. The item is quite big, as he having a hard time to even hold it for a long time due to his skinny arms. And after looked at the contents just for a few seconds, he knew that this was filled with lots of interesting information, the one that will keep him from boredom for a decent amount of time.

"..First? You never had a gift on Christmas before?.."

Blaise questioned, while Dazai giggled softly. Putting the book on the table to give his scrawny arms a rest.

"Yep!~ Mori never really care to do it. And those are childish anyway.."

He pouts, before continuing,

"-But! Since Blaise is so kind, giving me one, I guess I have no choice but to accept it!~"

...

Childishness. It's understandable why he never get such actions when he comes from an environment that are full of corpses.

There's no room for gifts and cookies in The Port Mafia. It's a criminal organization that sheds blood in order to protect Yokohama, not a Daycare or a Retirement home. Under the cruel leadership of Dazai's Grandfather, everyone is expected to be the most mature version of themselves if they want to survive. Instead of giving cards to your families, you should be learning on how to point a gun, to use a knife efficiently..

It's not for the faint of heart like Blaise. Like other normal people who lives in a normal environment.

Blaise can only shook his head, smiling fondly at Dazai's silly words. The boy didn't press the questionable words that Dazai just said any further, knowing that it's a sensitive subject for the brunette.

Huh, Blaise is way smarter than alot of people give him credit for.

"Sure, sure.."

The chess board and all of it's pieces seemed to be forgotten by the two, who were staring at each other right in the eye. A soft, genuine smile was formed on Dazai's face, feeling lightheaded for whatever reason that he didn't know of.

...

A few seconds passed. Dazai tries to control his own breathing, as the heart feels warmer and warmer everytime that he looks on those brown eyes, maybe it's magic?

Before he know it, the black haired boy reached both of his hand, holding it close.

"..Happy Early Christmas, Dazai."
