Begonia Baggins went to Hogwarts
Summary
Begonia Baggins was once a student of hogwarts. She doesn’t quite know how she was able to retain her memories of her previous life. But here she is reborn as a young hobbit of good standing. It’s very different from being called a mudblood and eventually being killed by the blood purist bigots who thought they were better than everyone else just because their parents didn’t know better than to marry their cousins. She’s not still salty about it at all.

Being a hobbit is pretty great, though. Sure not having magic anymore sucks but surprise of all surprises runes still work here. And almost all magic that could be preformed with a wand can be done with runes, it just takes a lot more effort and time, and space to make all the runes fit on the enchanted item.

So yes she does have a cold box, also known as a freezer, in her home, her library is self sorting and ever expanding with each new book she acquires, her beds are the softest in the shire, and all her bags have been made to hold more and weigh less. She’s also taken the time to expand every room in the smial just a little, except for the pantries, those she expanded quite a bit.

Her plumbing is absolutely magnificent if she does say so her self. Bag End is the only home in the Shire with heated and cooled running water available at every faucet. No pumping needed. Hot showers are totally thing, and her tub is a work of art that keeps the water warm for hours rather than minutes. She was rather proud of that one and has been known to spend many an afternoon reading in a bubbly scented bath reading until she was pruny.

Begonia’s only regret is that her parents weren’t able to enjoy these amenities before they were killed in front of her again died. But for now she will just have to enjoy the peaceful life that is the norm for the shire.

Of course that is when Gandalf decided to show up.

So apparently she hadn’t completely lost her magic, it just seems that hobbit magic is very different from the magic she was used to. And she could sense it, especially outside of the shire.

Trolls had magic and it was awful. Rivendell felt a bit like hogwarts did, absolutely saturated in magic and felt like home. Mirkwood felt disgusting and oily like that one time she’d stumbled upon a dark artifact that had been infecting the area and every item around it.

The worst was inside the lonely mountain with the most terrifying dragon she had ever seen in both lives, and the gold it had apparently been living in for the last few hundred years. It was like dementors met the pureblood manor house that she’d been captured and killed in visited in the previous world.

The treasure all felt like that too. There was no way she was going to let her dwarves (yes they were her’s now she’d put too much effort into keeping them alive for them to be anything else) get anywhere close to that cursed gold. At least not before it’s been cleaned and cleansed. Who knows where that dragon had been?

She was just glad she’d been able to finish that little box she’d been working on since Beorn’s home. She’d lost most of her expanded bags over the journey stupid goblins and had been working on her box in order to replace them. Wood took to carved runes much faster then fabric to embroidered runes. She’d have loved to have it finished before going through that forest, but it takes time to get all those runes just right and unfortunately they just didn’t have enough to wait for her to finish her little carving project. (Or so they thought. They might have been faster if they hadn’t run out of food half way through the forest and then gotten lost looking for anything edible and been captured and held by elves for several weeks. But what did she know?)

But it’s finished now and well with the dragon distracted by the company she was going to make sure none of her dwarves got drawn in by all this absolutely cursed metal.

So while everyone was out antagonizing a dragon, she pulled out her little box and left it open in such a way that gold was already starting to pour into it. Marking a few runes into the dirt near by to pull all the gold and treasures to her box, she got up to follow her dwarves into the fray again.

To say that the dwarves were confused to not find any gold was an understatement of the highest understanding.
