Lady Black

Lady Walburga Eliza Black née Black was definitely losing her mind.

Her eldest son, Sirius, was always a rebel, that she knew since he was learning how to eat solid food. Stubborn and a stickler to his ideals. She couldn’t convince him that his life would have been better in Slytherin with likeminded people. He wanted to go to Gryffindor, so he went straight to Gryffindor.

That wasn´t so bad, yes, he broke many decades of tradition, but he was still their son. He actually didn’t go that far away, he became the best friend of Heir James Potter, who she has heard was wooing a mudblood, a total blood traitor, but a Pureblood, nonetheless. She heard about two half-bloods that she really couldn’t quite remember their names, but he didn’t mix with mudbloods, she was totally sure. She could tolerate half-bloods, they didn’t decide to be born to a wixen and a muggle, that was on their parents’ choices, and she believes that Sirius understands this too, even if it is in an unconscious way.

He had continued to be a rebel until he decided to leave their home in Grimmauld Place when he was 17, just before his last year of school. Her brother, Alphard Black, was supplying him with an allowance and shelter.

But she worried the most about the future of House Black. Sirius, with his flaws and everything, was their Heir, the rightful and only Heir. They have tried to make their second son, Scion Regulus Arcturus Black, their new heir in his eldest absence but during a thorough medical scan they discovered that he was a male bearer. It was a blessing. She kind of always knew it in her heart, he was just so precious.

They were a traditional family, there was no way in hell that they would make his youngest son a Lord. Lady Magic has deemed him fit and fated to bring life to this world so his place should be that of a bride. She was already looking out for a candidate for him. But now there were no male heirs to take on the Lordship. First, Alphard has refused to marry and sired any children at all. Then her other brother, Cygnus Black, has sired three daughters: Bellatrix, Andromeda and Narcissa, the three of them already married and bearing children for other bloodlines. It was a blessing, truly, that she didn´t have the heart to burn Sirius of the family tapestry. She needed a reason to reinstate Sirius as their Heir, so he could continue with their bloodline. But she hasn’t been able to find a proper reason yet.

In the middle of her musings, Kreacher handed her a letter. It would seem almost funny the way she turned from the poised and perfectly blank faced woman into a wide-eyed avid reader that looked like she wanted to go through the contents as if at the next second the letter would be snatched away.

“Esteemed Lady Black,

It is with pleasure that I write this missive to congratulate you on the new addition to your family. As I recall, your eldest son Sirius left Grimmauld Place a little over a year ago. That is why I seem to be in need of informing you of this news. Yesterday, Mr. Sirius Black entered the Department of Civil Affairs and requested for the proceedings of a lawful and rightful marriage, he was to be wedded to one Severus Tobias Snape. Hearing his name, I thought he was a muggleborn, but your son, a cautious and smart man demanded a test of purity, for which I was a witness. When your son fired the spell to your son-in-law, once of the brightest white lights I have ever seen shined from him, totally pure and untouched. For that I send my congratulations and even doubt the total muggle origins of your new family member.

Best regards,

Richard Fawley.”

A son-in-law? Snape? Snape, Snape, Snape, Snape, Snape… Regulus! He was that Slytherin half-blood friend of Regulus. She made her way to the sitting room where the big Black Family Tapestry was placed on a wall. There, by her Sirius, a new branch has appeared linked to him in a beautifully painted thick golden stroke. Yes, Severus…Rowle-Prince? That should be a mistake, but then the Magic Tapestry cannot be fooled. The only possibility was that there was a way for this Severus to be both, a Snape and a Rowle-Prince.

It had to be, because they wouldn’t have been able to go through the proceedings with untruthful information. She hopes with all her heart he was indeed a Rowle-Prince, that way his son would have married a proper bride, all on his own. Also, that would be the perfect excuse to approach her son and reinstate him as her Heir. Naturally, she could also finish the details of her baby son marriage, better to get that iron out before he gets out of Hogwarts.

She would wait a few weeks, two, before claiming to have seen how Sirius has gotten married through the Family Tapestry. She would claim to need to get Severus an inheritance test to assess which family she should approach to fine the details of an alliance. They wouldn’t refuse Blacks either way, be it Prince or Rowle or both.

She will also make all efforts to move Sirius and her new son-in-law to Grimmauld Place. They would be the happy family they ought to be. Standing tall and proud, as only Blacks could be. Once they were under her thumb, she will start talking Severus into having a child. Soon the Black family will welcome another generation of stars. Hopefully a boy who could continue their family name and line. She wanted to imagine how her handsome grandson would be, but she needed to take a look at Severus first.
