James has always loved hockey, even as a young boy he loved skating in general but watching the games hit different in a way he always knew he would end up playing.
When James turned 13 he made a small team called the chillers and he loved it, not so much the name but it was supposedly the best thing he ever did.
Now he was going to go to Hogwarts, the best school for fine sports in London . It was his dream since he was 14, the school was not only for hockey players, but soccer and basketball and other sports. Now he was finally packing his bag to leave.
“James!” Sirius yelled from his bedroom
“yeah pads?!” He yelled back. Sirius was his best friend in the entire world, he had moved in with him and his family when Sirius was 16. He was also on the same hockey team as James. Sirius bursted in James’s room with a smile.
“I heard that basketball player you fancy will go to hogwarts” James said smirking at Sirius with knowing eyes.
Sirius gave him a dead look but his face still flushed “I don’t fancy him prongs, I have know idea what your talking about”
Sirius was still in denial for the gorgeous basketball player. They had first met him when grabbing lunch, he was tall, almost taller than James, he had hazelnut hair and brown eyes, he also had different sized scars around his face and body, no one knows where he got them from though. James had to admit, he was fairly attractive and he probably would have had a crush on that bloke if he fancied blokes. Sirius however does fancy blokes and he has a big crush on him.
“James, Sirius dinner!” Effie had called yelling up the stairs. James and Sirius came running down the stairs like 10 years ago olds ready for dinner.
“Mum this smells amazing, what is it?” James asked looking at the food.
“ah it’s a surprise dear you can guess after you finish” she had said. Mum was always the best chef in the house, she had grown up in Spain, his dad grew up in Spain as well but in a less popular area so the food wasn’t as big.
“James honey are you all packed?” His dad asked him
“yeah” james said smiling.
“and what about you Sirius? Are you packed” his dad asked Sirius with a look of sadness James didn’t know why.
“yeah I’m packed, are you ok?” Sirius said and looked at Monty.
Effie gave a soft look to Monty and rubbed his back a little, Monty took his finger and pressed it to his eye, wiping the small tears.
“Yes Sirius I’m ok, I just- I can’t believe that my boys are going to college already” Monty said smiling.
“oh hun it’s ok, hey boys will you give us a minute?” Effie spoke to them while hugging her husband. James looked at Sirius and nodded then walking out of the dining room.
James had always loved his parents love. It sounds funny to say always, most kids don’t like the idea of love but James always did. He knew the story of his parents and cherished it. James had only been in love once in his life, it was with a girl named Lily Evans. She was brave pretty and fierce, and she still is to this day. James had always thought that they would get married one day and yes him and Lily did date for a while. But they just weren’t meant for each other, so they broke up but are still close friends. James sometimes wonders what would have happened if Lily loved him. Though Lily broke up with him, he still is curious about it.
So he lays in bed thinking about what could’ve happened. Then he remembers, he has to go on a 8 hour car drive to London in the morning.
— (regulus pov)—
It’s almost midnight and regulus still isn’t asleep. He has to wake up at six in the morning to drive to his new school.
However regulus isn’t the only one not sleeping, Remus is also wide awake on his phone, he’s watching a movie of some sort. It sounds like a romance movie, regulus hates romance movies. He thinks there sick.
Regulus never really believed in true love or any of that bullshit, he thought it was, you either marry someone or you date someone that you know isn’t going to last. He wished he believed in it, but if you truly think about it, how could you spend your whole life with the same person and not get bored. He blames the love stuff on his parents, if they were ever in love it was way before he was born.
“Reg, I know you’re awake” Remus said in a low voice.
Regulus groaned and shoved his face into his pillow.
Remus lightly chuckled at this “go to bed we have to get up early tomorrow”
“ok mom.” Regulus said in a heavy sarcastic tone.
Regulus eventually did drift off into a heavy sleep, but the thing is when regulus falls asleep he never wants to wake up.
In the morning he was woken up to this.
“Regulus get your arse up we have to leave!” Remus was shouting, regulus could hear his footsteps running around there flat.
“Regulus!” Remus yelled again “I’m serious! We have to leave”
regulus was so done with Remus. Remus never let regulus sleep even though Remus will be driving so regulus can sleep on the way there, he’s still hates him though.
“Oh alright! Quit your bloody shouting” he said rubbing his eyes and sitting up. He didn’t bother to brush his hair, just change grab his bag and leave, he’ll get ready when they get there.
Remus put on David Bowie the whole way there, regulus won’t lie his music is very good, but he will never tell Remus that. So he let David Bowie sing while he drifts of into sleep waiting to get to Hogwarts.
