Christopher
That night Sirius headed into Remus' room. There he was sleeping like he always was these days. Still pale. Sirius pushed his curls out of his face and felt the heat of his skin. It was colder than normal. He was truly sick.
Remus was close to the edge so he went around laying down and faced Remus. Sirius grabbed his arm and placed it around his own waist. The last time this happened Sirius had a nightmare in Hogwarts and James had a game that day so he would never want to disturb his sleep.
Instead he went to Remus who accepted him and quickly held him. Sirius liked it. Sleeping while being held was the best sleep he had ever had. Just like that night in Hogwarts this night was great. Except this time he woke up first. Sirius spent an hour or so just staring at Remus and hearing him breathe. It helped Sirius remember that he still had a chance.
Sirius still had a chance to save Remus and he would be damned if he didn’t take it. Quickly he changed because he needed Remus. He needed him alive and well. Even if that meant going to see Christopher Plate.
Sirius knew he worked at the wizarding coffee shop. Sirius showed up on his bike and had to take a while before going to go look for that bastard. As he walked in he saw him standing by a table he was cleaning.
There he was with his stupid blond hair and stupid blue eyes. He grinned at him. Grinned! Rude! Sirius needed to do this. Needed to know. He never really liked him he was a swot who clung to Remus after joining his study group.
“Sirius Black. Been a long time. How have you been?”
Sirius forced a smile. “Christopher. You work here?”
“Yeah, I just graduated and I'm still thinking about what to do, you know. What do you do?”
What do I do? I take care of Remus! “I’m still thinking. Right now, Remus is unwell.”
“Oh, Remus.” Sirius hated the way he said Remus’ name and that stupid dreamy look after he said that. Sirius could feel his blood boil. He wanted to yell that ‘he is mine, not yours.’
Except Sirius wasn’t Remus’. Not really. Remus, he needed to find his soulmate and this git could be it. As much as it turned his stomach he had to know regardless.
“Wait, he’s sick. Again he gets sick a lot.”
“Yeah. The point is I am looking for his soulmate, maybe it will get him feeling better.”
Christopher nodded. “Yeah, it does feel better. You found yours?”
“Er…no, not yet. You?”
Christopher got that dreamy look again. “Yeah actually he’s coming towards us.”
Sirius turned to see a man. He was tall, brown curly hair, and lanky. He looked like Remus a bit. Except Remus wasn’t that lanky, his curls were better and he didn’t look so boyish. Also his eyes were dark, not the beautiful amber that his own Remus possessed.
“Sirius, this is Orton. He actually studied at Drumstrang. Kinda looks a bit like Remus, right?”
Sirius gave a slight grin, “Yeah.” No, no! Remus was better. Way better, poor Christopher he completely downgraded.
“Anyways, this is my soulmate.” He gave Orton a smile which was returned. Even his smile was inferior compared to Remus.
Sirius nodded. “Well congratulations. I am just getting coffee then I really should get going.” They each gave their goodbyes and Sirius went for coffee. Just one more person. Then they’ll know and can save Remus. Sirius felt lighter because thanks to any power that exists out there Christopher Plate is not Remus’ soulmate.
