As he left the common room and his birthday party behind he couldn't stop thinking about the gift James had given him him the night before.They were going to spend his birthday together but his friends had insisted to have a birthday party because apparently you are 17 only once,so James had given him his gift the night before thinking they wouldn't meet today, but he was drunk and bored so he send James an owl to meet at the astronomy tower.He knew that James wouldn't be there before him as he had to make an excuse why he had to leave so he thought he could talk to his brother in the mean time,well not exactly his brother but his star at least since that was all he could get.
He and Sirius hadn't talked at all in almost 2 years since the night Sirius left and Regulus refused to leave with him. It not like he didn't want to go to the Potter's with his brother that was his dream actually but he knew their parents wouldn't let both their heir's leave so he had to protect Sirius like he had protected Regulus all their childhood.
As he was climbing the stairs to get to the tower he heard voices and has he was turning to leave he recognized the voice that he had missed so much.He didn't want to spy at his brother but something told him to listen so he did.
Sirius was singing the birthday song and when he finished he started talking.
-Hey Reggie-he heard Sirius say and somehow thought that his brother knew he was there so he got ready to talk back but he heard Sirius start again.
-I got you a birthday present but I wasn't brave enough to give it to you . It's stupid considering we haven't talk in 2 years but you are 17 today and I couldn't help it.-he heard Sirius let out a choked sob.
He couldn't belive it his brother was talking to his star like he did but most importantly he had gotten him a present and was crying for him and all this time he thought Sirius hated him for not going with him. As he tried to take a peak and look at Sirius he saw that his brother had a bottle of firewhisky,a muggle cigarette and a little birthday cake.
-I hate it that you are stuck with them and not somewhere safe with me.I feel like it's my fault, like I abandoned you.I know you said no to coming with me but maybe I should have tried again maybe you were scared to come that night.Sorry for not being the big brother you deserved.-he finished as he started crying again but this time Regulus was crying to.
Regulus was out of words but he knew he had to talk to his brother.
-Hey Siri-he said using the nickname he hadn't used since they were little.
Sirius immediately got up and looked at his brother,tears still falling from both of boys faces.
-Reggie,what are you doing here?Did you heard everything I said?-he said in a muffled voice.
-I do that too you know.
-Do what?
-Talk to your star when I miss you.
-W..what?You miss me?
-Ofc I miss you Siri you are my brother.
-I thought you hated me.
-I thought you hated me to.
-Why would you ever think that little star?
-Why did you?
-For abandoning you.
-You didn't abandoned me, I refused to leave with you remember.
-I know but I should have found a way to convince you or I should have just keep my mouth shut and stayed there.
-No Siri you couldn't stay they would have killed you and I wasn't going to come with you.
-But why?-his brother asked with sad eyes.
-Because they would never have let both of us leave that night,not if they didn't have a heir and you would have been stuck there too and you didn't deserved it.
-You stayed so I could leave-Sirius said more whispering it to himself and making his way to close the distance with his brother and hugging him with all his strength.
As his brother closed his arms around him he let himself hug him back and cry under the light of the stars that clear night.
They sat there not talking for a couple of minutes and than Sirius reached for the present he had for his brother and gave it to him.
-I got you something.
-Thanks Siri.
-Open it-he said in a rush.
As he was opening the carefully packed present he was wondering what could it be.
Inside was a little box that had 2 star bracelets.
-They are muggle bracelets with something called magnet they get together when they are near.I saw this while I was on a date with Moony and thought of you so I bought them.
-They are beautiful Siri, here take the other one.
-You want me to take it?-Sirius asked surprised.
-Ofc who else would I give it to?
-I thought if I gave it to you secretly today you would share it with one of your friends.
-Well now I can share them with my best friends,my brother-Regulus said and Sirius just hugged him even more tightly.
-I thought you hated me because I didn't come with you.
-I could never hate you for that I just thought you had become like them and that I was too late to save you.But now I know the truth and I will never leave you again.I love you Reggie.
-I love you to-Regulus said without thinking twice.
