Second year is here!
The train ride passed without much incident and Ginny was a lot happier, she was currently watching Ron embroider a little bouquet. “You make it look so easy.” She said, fiddling with some uncut string. “How do you even know how to make clothes, I’ve never seen you do it.” Ginny asked. Ron looked at her and said “That’s a secret.”
She pouted and then said. “So, you're the Prewett heir now, mom’s been throwing so much furniture when she found out. She keeps saying how I have to marry into a good light family and get into Gryffindor. For the greater good she says.” Ginny said absentmindedly.
“You know, if you don’t get into Gryffindor, you can always come and stay with me. I already have the Prewett manor up and running, though I still have to do a little bit more reorganising and cleaning. A decade of that house collecting dust means half a month of cleaning. Especially difficult, without House elves.” Ron responded, Ginny giggled a little at that and said. “I’ll take you up on that offer.”
What she didn’t know was that Ron was actually praying for her to get disowned because she won’t be able to get the help she needs if she’s a Weasley. “I don’t want to be a Gryffindor, mums spouts so much house bigotry at home, I just want to get into another house to spite her.” Ginny said.
Ron smiled at her and then, once he was finished with the embroidery, he gave Ginny the handkerchief. “Keep it, I won’t always be here to wipe your tears.” Ron said, and Ginny was close to tears again. But it was apparent she had no more tears to cry. Ron patted her head and smiled.
“So, what are you excited for?” Ron asked, Ginny’s eyes lit up and then came another rant.
“So I want to get sorted into anything but Gryffindor, heck I’d rather be in Slytherin, anything to spite mum, I don’t want to stay in that house. Fred told me about this misogynistic person called Duncan. For some reason, mum really likes him. I’m also really invested in Quidditch, I wanna be on the team next year. Do you think I’ll make it? Yeah, I thought so too. Oh and I really want to learn more about History of Magic, but everyone tells me the lessons aren’t worth listening to.” GInny kept going on and on and Ron had the heart to listen.
The train ride was really great, Ron really hoped she would end up anywhere but Gryffindor.
—---------------
After the train ride, he had to sadly bade goodbye to his sister and run back to his friends to get into the carriages while Ginny went on the boats.
“Isn’t that your sister?” Hermione asked, her gaze lingering, Ron nodded, the topic changed because Neville and Lucas were having an argument on which wizarding plant was better. Ron was not completely sure which side he was on. He actually didn’t even know what they were talking about, but hey! Hadrian went into their carriage so that was something new.
Actually wait, Hadrian had just told him he wants to try out for Quidditch. “Really? I mean, I’m sure you’ll make it, but like why?” Normally in these fic’s, Hadrian is almost never in the quidditch team. Hadrian just shrugged and said. “It sounds fun.” Ron facepalmed and then replied simply. “Alright, do what you want.”
The ride to Hogwarts wasn’t anything special, they talked about the random stuff. Then went into the school, got in their seats and continued chatting until the first years finally went inside the hall.
Ginny looked very shy in her second hand robes, but lit up when she saw her brother grinning at her. She cleared her throat and started talking to a blonde girl, that must’ve been Luna. He didn’t care much about the other students, he was just hoping for the love of god that Ginny gets into any house other than Gryffindor.
When Ginny sat on the stool, he clenched his fists and it seemed as if they were talking telepathically. But he didn’t have to worry…
“RAVENCLAW”
The hat shouted and among all the cheers, Ron was the loudest and the most joyful, Ginny grinned and ran to sit at the Ravenclaw table, Sitting down right next to him. Lucas giving her some space, Dumbledore’s facade crumbled slightly, which made Ron even happier, the old man had looked weak, must be because of the lawsuit. It’s only going to be a little longer before his perfect world crumbles down.
Ron used to think of this place as a story that he could change. But this is his home, a year was spent here, in this world, with people he once thought as nothing more than characters in a story. But now, the people he talks to are real, they aren’t puppets, but people with feelings.
As the food appeared and as everyone started talking, things got back into a normal rhythm. Ron and Luna were in conversation, in this fic it turns out, Luna wasn’t a seer, which honestly made more sense, why can’t the blond girl be weird for the sake of being weird? Why did she need some special meaning for it? Samuel and Lucas were chatting about what they did during the Summer and Ginny was eating quietly.
“Oh Merlin, what the fuck.” Samuel said when Ron passed him a pouch. “For me?” Samuel asked, holding the pouch to his heart. Ron nodded and Samuel actually started bawling. It would’ve been funny if not for the fact Ron genuinely felt bad.
To wrap the night up, Samuel stopped crying, they went to their dorm room, and then actually passed out. Ron was pleased, it was a good night. Ron couldn’t ask for anything else.
—--------
Ron had woken up at the same time as he always does. Lucas and Samuel slept in a bit late though. They must’ve had a shit sleep schedule in the Summer. Ron shrugged and then decided he’d let them sleep.
He brushed his teeth, changed into his robes, and then left a little note saying that he would be at the Great Hall. When he finished writing, he left the note on the table. Once he made sure that the rat was still fed and watered in his cage, he left for the library.
He was hoping to prove that Peter was an animagus by this term or something similar.
Once he entered the library, he locked eyes with Madam Pince and nodded, it was mutual respect. Madam Pince did a wave of her wand and then without even asking, the books he needed were right there for him. He thanked her and then grabbed his books and left leisurely.
When he walked inside the great hall and took a seat. Hadran had taken the pleasure to sit beside him, even when he wasn’t in Ravenclaw.
“Hello Hadrian.” Ron said casually, taking a bite out of the only sausage on his plate. He wasn’t hungry, but he knew the importance of having three meals a day. It was just that he never followed it. Hadrian stared at his plate weirdly and grabbed his fork. “Hey!” Ron said, his fork being ripped out of his hands.
Hadrian ended up putting 3 more sausages and 2 pieces of toast and watched him eat. (Which was super creepy) Only when he was done would Hadrian be fully satisfied. Hadrian then left him alone to go back to the Slytherin table. Ron would've been fine with it, if not for the fact that he had heard the Ravenclaw 5th year sitting beside him whispering to someone else “Good pick, why do kids have more game than me?”
Ron sighed. They weren’t dating, maybe Draco might’ve lost his chance, but there was still a way for Hadrian to like someone else. When some time had passed, Lucas and Samuel ran in and sat on either side of him. Ginny came in as well. Yawning and talking with a Hufflepuff girl Ron didn’t recognize. When Ginny saw him, she smiled and waved cheerfully. He waved back with the same cheer.
When the daily mail came in, Ron had crossed his fingers and prayed to Jesus, Merlin, heck Zeus as well, for Ginny to get the howler he had gotten from when he was a first year, and god damn his luck is good.
After one howler and 30 minutes of Percy coddling and Fred and George looking mortified. Ginny and Ron finally got a bit of time to themselves. Ginny looked happier than she was on the train and Ron finally got back his sister. Even if he wasn’t Ron himself. After classes (they did not have Defence today, thank the lord)
He then borrowed Hedwig from Hadrian (why is the snow owl always here, probably because she’s Hadrian's familiar or something)
He ordered some new robes from Madam Malkins, he wasn’t going to let Ginny be made fun of for having second hand robes, and he also ordered some more comfortable fabrics fit for the outdoors. Ginny’s clothes, when he checked them on the train ride. They did not look comfortable.
The current fabrics he owned were supposed to be for formal events and were supposed to look beautiful, so it was a bit of a shock when he realized he didn’t have any light and cozy fabrics. So he just gave Ginny a few of his clothes and promised he’d take her shopping once they were at the Prewett manor for Christmas break.
Ginny and Ron were now currently in the Ravenclaw common room, she’s been trying to practice embroidery and is failing miserably, she’s having a lot of fun though, Samuel and Lucas were reading on the couches, and Luna was talking about Nargles and Wrackspurts. Ron wasn’t really sure about how any of that made sense.
It was overall very peaceful.
A little while later, Ginny had finally made her first… Thing? She told him it was supposed to be a bee, and he agreed, mainly because he didn’t have the heart to tell her he wasn’t actually sure what it was supposed to be.
Ginny took out the embroidery and let Ron pin it to the wall of the common room. Luna and Ginny then started partaking in conversation. Samuel and Lucas were reading their History of Magic books Ron had forced them to read and Ron himself? He fell asleep on the floor, no reason why, no reason how, he just did.

The only reason I’m ending this chapter so early is because I’m going to Hungary for the week!
