Dream come true, but it's not like you thought it would be

Hermione stood in McGonagall's office, unable to sit. Unable to process the sheer ridiculousness of her current circumstances.
She was Head Girl.
A coveted position, and certainly one that she had been steadily working towards in the past years (when she wasn't focused on keeping Harry alive and well that is). Normally she would be ecstatic to have gotten her dream, albeit a minor one.
But, where there's a Head Girl, there must be a Head Boy. This years Head Boy, happened to be one of the few Slytherins to actually return for their 8th year:

Draco Malfoy

She had not seen the "poncey git" as Ron put it, since his trial. Honestly, what was the headmistress thinking? There was no way that he would be willing to work with her in any capacity, if his entire muggleborn-hating persona was to be believed. No to mention the fact that she DEFINITELY doesn't want to work with him either. He's a rude, prejudiced, blood-purist, snotty, elitist, arse.

All too soon, Hermione is sitting on the bed in her room of the Head Suite staring glumly at the ceiling. Maybe if she wishes her problems away enough times, they'll actually go away.
