Sorting part 2
Hufflepuff. Peter was sorted in to Hufflepuff. The entire crowd burst out laughing- except for Hufflepuff themselves and James Potter, who was watching Peter in shock. Sirius shot a worried look at James from across the room. However, nobody laughed harder then the Slytherins. Peter Pettigrew, even though he was pure blood, already had a bad reputation given that his parents were quite fond of muggles. Like rubbing salt in the already fresh failure wound, Peter fainted from embarrasment, and had to be taken to the hospital wing on an enchanted stretcher. Not that the students cared, as it had already been an hour since they'd arrived at the school. Everyone was famished and desperate for some sleep. But alas, the sorting was not yet finished.
Harry was called and swiftly sorted into Gryffindor. He joined Neville, who was deep in conversation with his father. Harry watched as the rest of the plan concluded.
Harry smiled, for James must be having a confusing night and he knew it was just about to get even more baffling.
"Potter, James," Called McGonagall. Her eyes bore a deep exhaustion which was also present in posture. Her shoulders had sagged significantly compared to the start of the ceremony and her voice seemed worn out. "GRYFFINDOR!" James smirked and joined Sirius at their house's table.
Lastly, Severus Snape was called. Lily was staring at him quite sadly, already having guessed were he would end up. Waiting for the inevitable "Slytherin", she winced when the sorting hat started to speak. She cast her eyes down to floor in her melancholy anticipation.
"GRYFFINDOR!"
