Memories of a Broken Future
The quartet of wizards and witches watched as memories swirled like water draining from a tub, becoming the house that they had just left. However, something about it was different. The house looked more aged than before. It was a bit worn down and overgrown, giving it a home lived in, homey feel. There were also decorations littering the lawn and walls of the house. Skulls and graves, shades of orange, purple and black, spiders and pumpkins were among these decorations, clearly indicating the time of year to the group. It was Halloween.
Harry and Neville watched with distaste as Voldemort forced his way in to the house, and they saw the whole scene; James falling to the floor, Lily begging for Harry's life and, with a final green flash and a horrible scream, Tom Riddle being reduced to less than a spirit- hit by his own rebounding curse- leaving Harry James Potter with a lightning bolt scar upon his forehead.
The rest of the memories were shown to the older pair, and with the final memory (Hermione and Ron being murdered by Voldemort), they left the pensieve.
A single tear rolled down Albus's cheek, leaving a glinting track in it's wake. The tragic tale of Harry James Potter had moved the man. He vowed to be better than that version of himself had been.
The Minister spoke first, her tone serious and professional yet more sincere than before.
"Alright, what can we do to help?"
