Chapter 1
Harry had just left Dumbledore's office after viewing riddles past at the orphanage.
when he passed the statue guarding the entrance something caught his eye outside from the window. Harry walked over to the window to have a closer look and what he saw quite surprised him; it seemed that the black lake was covered in a sort of mist. What was even more surprising was that when he looked a little closer you could almost see the silhouette of a person in the middle of the mist. it all had a sort of shining glow to it it was difficult to try to look away it was like his eyes were glued to the silhouette he almost forgot where he was. before he really knew what he was doing he was already walking to the stairs that led to the main entrance of the castle. It was only when the cold late october air hit him he realized where he was. He slowly moved to a stop and looked around confused as to what in Merlin's name he was doing. He saw the lightly glowing mist again and looked at it wearely. it certainly didn't look normal even in a teenage wizard's standard and then he saw the figure again he could now see that it was a female and he wondered who in their right mind was by the lake right now this late at night he wondered if it was a teacher.. It didn't really look like one he knew so he doubted it and considering that they had not called to him to ask what he was doing there or giving him detention that idea quickly left his mind. The woman had seemed to notice him immediately and Harry wondered if she had somehow seen him through the window as well. He thought she was looking at him but it was a little hard to see from here in the dark. his curiosity got the better of him and he started walking over to her.
Dumbeldore sat in his chair after Harry had left he breathed a deep sigh. Sometimes he thought he might be getting too old for his duties. Not just for the school but his duties for the order and Harry as well. He took a lemon drop in his mouth and closed his eyes just focusing on the flavor when he opened his eyes a minute later he saw a strange light coming from the window. curious and worried he stood up and walked to the window. it took a second to process what he was seeing but it looked like harry was walking towards the source of the strange light that he now saw came from the Black lake where a figure could be seen in the middle of some strange mist. he took one more good look at what he was seeing before turning towards his office door.
She was beautiful.. Long raven hair, pale skin and a purple silk dress that looked like it was made for a medieval princess. She had the water of the lake up to her knees. Harry wondered how she wasn't shivering standing in the water without even a winter robe on. she watched Harry approach the edge of the lake with a kind smile on her face. When Harry reached the edge he stopped and wondered what he should do now this certainly wasn't something that happened to him often wich for his standers really was saying something right when he had almost gathered the courage to open his mouth she turned to fully face him and said softly “Hello young one” Harry wondered why she called him that when she looked to be only about a couple years older than him. he choose to ignore it and simply answer with a “Hi” she gave a small smile where you could see a glint in her eyes that shone with kindness and curiosity the small interaction giving him the courage Harry said “why are you standing in the lake? aren't you cold?” The Young woman gave a small chuckle and said “I'm afraid I don't feel the cold anymore” now that confused Harry. “I'm pretty sure not feeling the cold in late October is a bad thing. Maybe you should go see Madam Pomfrey " who is the Madame you speak off?” She asked curiously “she is.. you don't know who madam Pomfrey is??” He asked bewildered. right when he said that he heard footsteps behind him and he quickly turned around to find Professor Dumbeldore walking over to stand by his side while looking at the woman in the lake. "Professor!" he yelled, surprised. Dombeldore didn't stop looking at the woman “hello and who might you be '' he asked with his usual twinkle in his eyes though he did not seem as relaxed as normal and that made Harry a little more wary of this woman. Especially if Dumbledore didn't know who she was and she was at Hogwarts grounds this late at night.. “I'm the keeper of this lake” she said. Harry was especially wary of this whole strange situation now with that odd proclamation “i was not aware the lake had gotten a keeper” said Dombeldore “it have been quite a long time since i was able to cross to this plane i'm afraid” an invisible light bulb might as well have gone off in harry's head at that and he yelled “you are a ghost!” it certainly would explain the medieval dress and being unable to feel the shivering cold. the woman gave a small laugh “of a sort. i'm not quite like the kind you are probably thinking about young one” she smiled at him with big brown eyes shining from the slight glow of the mist surrounding her “well in that case i think some introductions would be in order my lady” said dumbledore “i am Professor Albus Dumbeldore, headmaster of this school and this is my student Harry Potter” the woman seemed surprised by that “a school you say?” “yes Hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry” answered dumbledore smiling “a school of sorcery..” she said in wonder. She seemed to snap out of her slight daze and said “you can call me Freya”.
