Theo helped clean Zephyr’s face. Why he was doing it the muggle way he didn’t know. Maybe his wife missed her muggleborn ex girlfriend more than she let on. They had decided to let Draco and Hermione go after the birth of the couple’s third child and second son.
They knew that their fathers had stopped the pair from reaching out originally but after Thadus died last year Theo wondered what was holding Draco back. The only explanation they could come up with was they were completely invested in their family and relationship( Reality was that Draco and Hermione were taking care of his sick mother who had dragon pox while raising their children. They had a three year old around a hospital…just imagine.)
It was crushing for both Daphne and Theo to just let go of the two people they loved so much but it was obvious that both Draco and Hermione weren't thinking about them the way Theo and Daphne were about them.
Hermione rolled her eyes at the picture of Daphne in the news again. There she was pressed against her husband holding her son. Hermione hated herself and Theo for ever coming up with the idea of these marriages. She still loved Daphne and she knew that she always would but she had grown to love Draco as more than just the father of her children. He was her husband. Her life partner. She trusted him in ways she trusted no one else. She didn't think she could actually give that up for the chance that she would maybe possibly still feel the same rush with her ex girlfriend. She hated Theo. She hated herself.
Draco watched Lyra brush her dolls hair while playing tea party. He had always made it his statement to be the best father he could no matter what. He loved all of his children more than life and he loved his wife for giving them to him. When Hermione married him Draco always knew he would fall in love with her if she gave him children. The day she gave birth to Scorp and Lyra was the day he knew he would struggle to let her go but if she wanted to go back to her love he would let her. But when she gave him Leo he had made up his mind that she was his wife and that Malfoys deserve the best and that's exactly what she is.
Theo hated Draco Malfoy. He always would. He sat and read the letter from the man that he would always love more than life but would now hate for the rest of his life. Theo and daphne had finalized their divorce two weeks ago and both couldn't wait to tell their respective exes. Only to be shot down by a formal letter from Lord Malfoy expressing regret but finality. Draco and Hermione had chosen each other. They were staying a family.
Daphne could never hate Hermione Granger-Malfoy. She herself was a mother. While Daphne was plain and simple a lesbian and could never love Theo romantically. Hermione had fallen for Draco and Daphne couldn't hate her for it. While Daphne would always love Hermione Granger she would never force her to leave her husband if she wanted to stay with him and her children.
If a year later Hermione sends her a letter telling her that no matter what she will always love making her hope that one day when they are old and gray they will find their way back home Daphne doesn't say she just writes back that she will always love her too and that when she needs her she will be there no matter what.
