Lady-Consort Daphne Potter loved her wife, Lady Helaine Potter. Even a blind person could see the love on Daphne's face every time she looked at her beloved wife. She bought her Helaine the most loveliest of gifts and did practically anything Helaine asked her to do.
Daphne has always been a hopeless romantic. Back when she was courting Heiress Millicent Bulstrode in her fourth and fifth years, Daphne bought her gifts almost everyday, gave her bouquets of flowers, lovely perfumes, and the most beautiful jewels in all of Avalon. But it wasn't until after they split up in the beginning of their sixth year that Daphne realized just how much money she had spent on gifts for Heiress Bulstrode. Over 200 gallons were spent on a relationship that had ended on bad terms. But now she was bonded to her lovely wife, Helaine Potter, and Heiress Bulstrode (now Selwyn) is bonded to Heir Polaris Selwyn, a man 20 years her senior.
Just thinking about the amount of money she has spent on gifts for her beloved could give a Newblood a heart attack. But it wasn't the price that matters, it's the gift itself that matters. Daphne always makes sure to give Helaine the finest jewelry in all of Avalon, jewelry so fine that witches would stare at it in envy. She gives Helaine perfumes, ribbons, dresses, flowers, new furniture, anything that would make Helaine happy.
Now, as Daphne arrived back at the Potter Manor, she peeked inside the gift bag. She had commissioned a quick and reliable new broomstick to be made for Helaine and she was sure that she'd love it. Helaine was a professional Quidditch player and needed her brooms to be very quick and reliable.
Daphne knew that there was no possible way for her to hide the gift from Helaine until her birthday --which is a few days away-- which is why she decided to give it to her beloved as an early birthday present. Helaine was, of course, still going to get presents on her birthday but this one was special.
Ascending the stairs towards their front door. She pulled her keys out of her dress pocket.
"Helaine, darling, I've got a surprise for you, meet me in the sitting room! " Daphne said excitedly, as she took off her shoes.
She heard Helaine yell out a reply as she got up and grabbed the gift. Daphne walked into the sitting room and placed the gift behind the sofa, out of Helaine's sight for now.
She looked up as Helaine entered the room. Daphne froze as she looked at her wife's everlasting beauty. Her long ebony hair was tied back into a loose bun that would come undone in just one weak tug, she was wearing a gorgeous crimson gown that was very thin to battle the heat of July, and she was wearing some of the jewelry and ribbons Daphne had gifted her.
"Glad you're back, Daphne. " Helaine said as she walked towards Daphne and hugged her.
"Now where's that surprise you were talking about. " Helaine said with a smirk on her face.
Laughing, Daphne said, "Hold on, let me go grab it. "
Daphne grabbed the long gift bag from behind the sofa and handed it to Helaine. "Here you go beautiful, your gift. "
Helaine opened the gift bag and gasped, "Daphne! You didn't have t-- Thank you, I love it!" Helaine smiled and hugged Daphne again, this time with more force. "This the best broomstick I have ever been gifted, love. You really didn't need to buy me a new broomstick, I would've survived a few more games with my firebolt before it gave up on me. "
"I know I didn't need too, but I wanted to. " Daphne said as she kissed Helaine softly.
