Lingling stirred awake, her body still weak from exhaustion. She blinked a few times, adjusting to the dim light of her apartment. As she turned her head, she was surprised to see Orm resting her head on the edge of the bed, her hand gently holding onto Lingling’s.
For a moment, Lingling just stared, taking in the sight. Orm looked exhausted, as if she hadn’t been sleeping well. Her usually polished and confident presence was replaced by something softer, more vulnerable.
Lingling sighed quietly, her fingers instinctively reaching out to touch Orm’s hair, brushing a few strands away from her face. The movement made Orm stir, her eyes fluttering open.
“Hey,” Orm said groggily, sitting up immediately. “You’re awake.”
Lingling nodded, shifting slightly. “Yeah.”
Orm reached out to touch Lingling’s cheek, her thumb grazing lightly against her skin. “How are you feeling?”
Lingling leaned into the touch for just a second before sitting up straighter. “Better.”
Orm studied her carefully, as if making sure she wasn’t lying. “Do you need anything?”
Lingling paused for a moment. “Water.”
Orm stood up right away, heading to the kitchen. She returned quickly, handing Lingling the glass and watching as she took slow sips.
When Lingling placed the glass on the nightstand, she noticed Orm still watching her, a mix of concern and hesitation in her eyes.
“Why are you here?” Lingling asked softly.
Orm let out a small, breathy laugh. “Because I was worried about you.”
Lingling looked down at her hands. “I told Win not to call you.”
Orm sighed. “I know. But I’m glad he did.”
Lingling remained quiet for a moment before finally saying, “I wasn’t mad at you, Orm.”
Orm blinked, looking surprised. “You weren’t?”
Lingling shook her head. “No. Just… hearing about the other girls you’ve been with—it hurt.”
Orm frowned. “Ling, you know that was before I met you.”
“I do,” Lingling said honestly. “But that doesn’t mean it doesn’t affect me. I know I shouldn’t care about your past, but… I can’t help thinking about it. About them.”
Orm shifted closer, taking Lingling’s hands gently in her own. “There’s no one else but you. There hasn’t been since I met you.”
Lingling looked up, her eyes searching Orm’s face. “Are you sure?”
Orm exhaled, squeezing her hands. “I’ve never been more sure of anything.”
Lingling held her gaze for a long moment before nodding. She wasn’t fully sure how to deal with her emotions, but one thing was clear—Orm was here, and she wasn’t going anywhere.
Orm sat down on the floor beside Lingling’s bed, resting her arms on the mattress as she gazed up at her. She looked exhausted—her usual confident demeanor replaced with something softer, almost vulnerable.
Lingling sighed, looking down at Orm. She hesitated for a moment before finally asking, “How many?”
Orm blinked, confused. “How many what?”
Lingling rolled her eyes dramatically. “How many girls have you been with?”
Orm’s mouth fell slightly open, but no words came out. She hadn’t expected this. Of all the things Lingling could be mad about, this question completely threw her off.
Lingling tapped her fingers on the blanket, waiting. “I just want to know so I’m not surprised if we ever run into one of your exes while walking in the mall or something.”
Orm gulped. “Uh… that’s… a complicated question.”
Lingling raised an eyebrow. “Why is it complicated? It’s a number. Just say it.”
Orm looked away, rubbing the back of her neck. “Because… I don’t know the exact number.”
Lingling’s eyes widened. “You don’t know?”
Orm winced. “I mean… I never counted?”
Lingling sighed, crossing her arms. “Okay, give me a ballpark. Five?”
Orm shifted uncomfortably. “More.”
Lingling narrowed her eyes. “Ten?”
Orm avoided eye contact. “More.”
Lingling stared at her in disbelief. “Jesus, Orm. What were you, a damn sex machine?”
Orm groaned, covering her face with her hands. “They chased me! I didn’t go looking for them.”
Lingling scoffed. “Oh, so you’re the victim?”
Orm peeked at her through her fingers. “I mean… kinda?”
Lingling shook her head, standing up. She paced the small space of her bedroom before stopping in front of Orm. “So what, none of them meant anything to you?”
Orm dropped her hands and looked up at Lingling, eyes serious now. “No. Not the way you do.”
Lingling inhaled sharply at that, feeling her heart clench a little. She wanted to stay annoyed, but Orm’s sincerity was chipping away at her resolve.
After a moment, she sat back down on the bed and met Orm’s gaze. “So if we ever run into one of them… what do I do?”
Orm smirked, reaching for Lingling’s hand. “Just hold my hand and kiss me in front of them. Make them regret ever thinking they had a chance.”
Lingling rolled her eyes but couldn’t hide the small smile tugging at her lips. “You’re so full of yourself.”
Orm grinned, squeezing her hand. “Maybe. But you love me.”
Lingling sighed, shaking her head. “Unfortunately, yeah… I do.”
Orm’s smirk softened as she kissed Lingling’s knuckles. “Then that’s all that matters.”
Lingling knew Orm’s past wouldn’t just disappear overnight, but at least now, she knew where she stood.
Orm hugged Lingling tighter, resting her chin on her shoulder. “C’mon, it’s all in the past. You have nothing to worry about. I promise, I’m all yours.” She placed a soft kiss on Lingling’s cheek, smiling as she pulled away.
Lingling narrowed her eyes at her. “You better be, or you’ll be sleeping with one eye open.”
Orm dramatically gasped, clutching her chest. “You’re terrifying.”
“You should be scared,” Lingling deadpanned, crossing her arms.
Orm raised her hands in surrender, grinning. “Not gonna argue with that.”
Then, her expression shifted, turning serious. “I’m gonna ask my dad for a week off. You and I need a break. We’re going somewhere.”
Lingling furrowed her brows. “Where exactly are we going?”
Orm smirked, placing a finger over Lingling’s lips. “Shhh. It’s a secret.”
Lingling rolled her eyes. “You’re terrible at keeping secrets. Just tell me now.”
Orm shook her head. “Nope. You’ll find out when we get there.” She stood up, stretching. “I’m heading home to pack. You should pack too—well, later. You need more rest first.”
Lingling sighed but nodded. “Fine.”
Orm leaned down, kissing her forehead. “I’ll text you what you need to bring.” She winked playfully before heading toward the door. “See you tomorrow, baby.”
Lingling watched her go, shaking her head with a small smile.

The next morning, Lingling woke up to multiple messages from Orm.
Orm: Good morning, baby!
Orm: Feeling better?
Orm: Pack light but bring a swimsuit ;)
Orm: Also, comfy clothes and a dress for one fancy night.
Orm: I’ll pick you up at 10 AM sharp.
Lingling chuckled as she read the texts, shaking her head. This woman.
She got up, stretched, and started packing. Orm’s hints made it clear they were going somewhere warm—maybe a beach? That would be nice. She hadn’t had a real vacation in years.
By 9:50 AM, she was ready, dressed in casual jeans and a loose blouse, her suitcase by the door. Just as she was double-checking her things, her phone buzzed.
Orm: I’m outside.
Lingling peeked through the window and saw Orm leaning against her car, sunglasses on, looking effortlessly cool. With a deep breath, Lingling grabbed her bag and stepped out.
Orm’s face lit up the moment she saw her. “Ready?”
Lingling smirked. “Depends. Are you finally going to tell me where we’re going?”
Orm grinned. “Nope. Get in.”
Lingling sighed but got into the car, shaking her head. As soon as Orm started driving, Lingling turned to her. “At least give me a clue.”
Orm tapped her chin as if thinking. “Okay. The place has sand.”
Lingling scoffed. “That’s obvious. You already told me to bring a swimsuit.”
Orm laughed. “Fine. It also has water.”
Lingling glared at her. “Orm.”
“Alright, alright.” Orm chuckled, keeping her eyes on the road. “We’re going to Krabi.”
Lingling’s eyes widened. “Wait, seriously?”
Orm nodded. “Yep. Private resort, beautiful beaches, and just the two of us for an entire week.”
Lingling stared at her in disbelief. “Orm, that’s—”
Orm glanced at her and smirked. “The perfect way to make it up to you?”
Lingling sighed, but she couldn’t help the smile forming on her lips. “Yeah… something like that.”
Orm reached over and squeezed her hand. “Then let’s go make some memories.”
As they drove off toward the airport, Lingling found herself excited—maybe this was exactly what they needed.
