James POV

Life was really strange for James right now. Most every night he was going out, he had never done that before, but now, apparently, he was. He found himself needing to. Because Regulus was going out every night. At some point in the past couple of years, Regulus had turned into the most gorgeous man alive. When James left for college he was a pretty and cute fifteen-year-old boy. Then after he left, he had gone through an angry dyed hair and heavy makeup phase. Before their fight, he was a cute teenage boy with bright green hair and black clothes, but that's not what he looks like now. Now his hair was back to being black and he still wore mostly black clothes but he had given up the thick eyeliner. Now when Regulus wore makeup, it only made him look more beautiful. He had grown up and everyone who saw him could see that he was completely beautiful.

But part of the phase that he hadn't grown out of was the partying. Regulus liked partying just about as much as Sirius did, or well -used to. Ever since Sirius had finally stopped sleeping around and started dating Remus he had stopped partying too. But Regulus still liked sleeping with strangers the same amount, and that thought made James sick. He had no idea when it happened but the thought of any other guy touching Regulus made him want to throw up. And then kill the guy. So he would always go out with Regulus. When Regulus went out with James, he never went home with any other guy. Instead he would end up asking James if he could crash at his place because Regulus hated his roommate. Then he would fall asleep curled up next to James on his bed.

He couldn't say he necessarily disliked their pattern.

He loved hanging out with Regulus and having Regulus curled up next to him made his chest tighten but he wasn't sure if it was a sustainable way of living.

He really didn't like going to parties, they were way too loud. And he was sure that at some point Regulus would find James to be too boring. But for now, the partying worked for them and it's not like Regulus disliked him. In fact, Regulus had recently informed him that James was going to go to Columbia for med school.

He had no choice in the matter, and James didn't really need one. If Regulus wanted him around, there was no way he was going to say no.

"James, drink," Regulus said as he held out a red solo cup that had a small amount of a clear liquid that he hoped, but not too optimistically, was water.

"What is it?" He asked as he sniffed it, figuring out that it definitely wasn't water.

"umm….." Regulus paused to think. "Vodka I think."

"Well, as kind as it was for you to get me this mystery drink, I think I'm going to go get a beer," James smirked.

"Coward." Regulus rolled his eyes.

"That may be, but I'm still not drinking that." He laughed and walked away. By the time he got back, some guy was already talking to Regulus.

"Hey Reg," He said as he walked up to him and put his arm around Reg’s shoulder.

"Oh is this your boyfriend?" The guy asked.

"No." Regulus answered quickly, "He's my- we're not dating."

"Ok, well." He eyed James, "I'm going to go back to my friends, nice meeting you." The guy said as he disappeared into the party.

"Ok, what was that," Regulus said as he turned to James.

"What?" He asked a bit confused.

"The whole peeing all over me thing," Regulus said then grimaced at his own choice of words.

"Ew," James responded with a frown.

"I- not my best wording, but you saw me talking to that guy so you put your arm around me and glared at him until he left," Regulus said.

"Oh, I-" He trailed off not really knowing how to respond. Regulus looked at him expecting an answer.

What was he supposed to say? He couldn't really say that the thought of that guy touching Regulus made him want to do something that would land him in prison. "I just didn't like that guy."

"Do you know him?" Regulus asked.

"No." He answered.

"So how do you know you don't like him?" Reg asked.

"I just didn't," James said as Regulus eyed him carefully.

"I- ok. Want to dance?" He asked.

"Sure." James gave him a small smile as they walked slowly towards the living room of the house. Regulus stood close to him, wrapped his arms around James’ neck, and moved slowly to the music, not looking him in the eye. They had never done this before. They had danced but it was more James jumping up and down while Regulus danced actually well while intermittently laughing at James’ jumping. But now Regulus was standing inches away from him, and was dancing like James had never seen him before. Regulus usually got lost in his own world when he danced but now he was inviting James with him. After the song was over, Regulus said quietly, "I'm tired, I think I'm going to head home."

"Are you crashing at my place again?" James asked hopefully.

"No." He shook his head. "Back to the dorm."

"Oh, ok," James responded as he led him out of the house. "I'll walk you home."

"Okay." Regulus smiled.

They walked for about ten minutes in silence until they reached his dorm building. "This is me."

"I know." James laughed lightly.

"Okay so..." Regulus said chewing his lip.

"See ya tomorrow," James responded.

"Yeah, see ya." He responded not turning to go in.

"Okay." James said, then Regulus stepped forward and quickly pressed his lips against James' then walked into his building. He had no idea what just happened. Actually, he did. He was pretty sure Regulus had just kissed him but that really didn't sound right. Regulus didn't kiss him, that wasn't what they did. They hugged and sometimes held hands but they definitely didn't kiss.

Regulus didn't kiss boys. Well, James actually assumed he did, but he assumed that when Regulus kissed boys they were generally naked and strangers. But he had pressed his lips against James. Why did he do that? He couldn't even begin to figure out a good answer to that. The only thing James knew for certain was that he was definitely into dudes.
