Questions and Burnt Letters
How was Severus supposed to teach a student like Dazai? He had no issues with (most) of his friends, save the Weasley twins, but the boy seemed to be a magnet for trouble. Not only was it impossible to make the boy brew a single draught correctly. Dazai would reduce both his potion and cauldron to sludge within ten minutes of the class beginning.
He let out a exasperated sigh, tapping his quill against his paper in his office. There was no way to know why he didn't do anything. Unless...
A idea popped up in Snape's mind. He stood up from his oak desk, a newfound determination to determine the root of the problem in his snake.
"So, why do you wish to know how Mr Dazai performs in my class?" Minerva McGonagall asked the potions master.
The stoic professor simply replied with "I'm trying to figure out how to make him do his schoolwork so that Mr Dazai doesn't flunk."
"You may be a bit late for that, Severus." Minerva said with a slight lilt to her voice. "But I'll tell you anyways. This goes without saying, but he never has done a single assignment, although I am quite certain he's memorized the textbook cover-to-cover. And he only ever attempted to do the tranfiguration on the first day." The aging women sighed. "I don't know what you expect to get from this, though."
Snape had already gotten plenty.
