Marlene Mkcinin sat in her office chair as she rested her legs on the old wooden desk while she looked out the window.
It was raining and she could hear the pitter-patter of rain on the roof of her cabin, the sun had set and it was twilight, she suspected a call would come in soon.
Old office phone on her desk rang, “Oi Mary what's it tonight?” She asked throwing her legs off the desk. “Oh just the usual it should be easy we suspect it's just one this time, I’ll text you the address and payment.” The girl on the other side assured her nonchalantly. Marlene smiled “perfect thanks Mar.” Maybe if the payment was good enough and the work did not take too long she could treat herself to buying that new red guitar she had her eye on for some time now.
Marlene got up and strapped on her big black work boots and leather jacket, she scurried to tie her messy bleach blonde mullet into a ponytail and grabbed her spear it was go time.
She hopped into her 2000 green Jeep Wrangler and sped off. Tonight just as Mary said was the usual, some shed in the woods or other. Marlene suspected it would be an old weak vampire so in reality killing it would be more like putting it out of its misery than an actual kill.
When she finally saw the boarded-up old shed she hopped out of the jeep into the muddy thick woods. As Marlene approached the cabin she leaned against it listening and she could hear the gasping from a human inside it seemed like the Vampire had already succeeded in getting nutrients this was going to be a bit difficult.
Marlene slammed herself against the door breaking it open. “Ahh.” He yelled as she barged in.
The shed was dark and shadowy filled with cobwebs and dusk there was no light Marlene could barely make out the figure in front of her hunched over a bench where someone else lay. Once the figure turned around she could see its purple glowing eyes a telltale sign of a vampire.
Marlene stood in a ready position holding her spear waiting to gauge how strong this one would be. The vampire eloquently drifted into the less shadowed part of the shed and smirked.
Marlene’s spear clattered to the floor in shock. The vampire was tall and thin with long black box braids cascading down her back, she had a sculpted face and was wearing a short purple velvet dress, the rest of her was decorated in golden jewelry such as her earrings and necklace. She was utterly ethereal, beauty in every sense of the word. Compared to her Marlene felt scruffy and shabby looking.
“Well you're here to kill me I guess?” The vampire assumed in an unbothered voice. “Uh yeah.” Marlene muttered in a trance by the Vampire's beauty. “I'm sure that can wait.” The vampire laughed in a way that reminded Marlene of a soft wind chime in the rain.
The vampire slid closer to Marlene and lifted Marlene's chin to look at her. Marlene looked over to the body on the bench. The vampire shrugged “he can wait.”
She fixed her eyes on Marlene “I, on the other hand, my dear, cannot.” She smirked letting Marlene rest her hands on the Vampire's waist as she leaned in to kiss her.
Marlene had never felt anything like this, most vampires were decrepit and ugly from thousands of years of eating human flesh and blood, but this girl was different she was charismatic and fiery, nothing like Marlene had ever seen before.
They passionately kissed as if there would never be another chance. It felt like magic. When Marlene pulled away she looked into the vampire’s breathtaking fiery violet eyes. “Are you planning on murdering me?” Marlene smirked feeling at ease despite the fact she was clinging to a vampire.
“You, my dear, never.” The vampire assured in her deep calming voice. The vampire kissed Marlene’s neck before leaning stepping back to look at Malrlene once more She reached for Marlene's hand and gently led her to a bench in the shack, one way or another the corpse that was lying there had dissipated.
She sat with Marlene next to her, her hand firmly placed on Marlene's thigh “now my dear why don't you tell me your name.” She inquired. “Marlene, and you?” She asked. “Marlene, meaning elegance and greatness, of course, that would be your name dear,” she smiled fondly “I am Dorcas.” She conceded.
Marlene reached up to run her hand through Dorcas’s braided hair. “Shall we continue.” She smirked. “With pleasure.” Marlene smiled leaning over Dorcas to kiss her once more.
