Chapter 2
Weeks have passed since Narcissa and her son arrived at the Potter’s domicile. The war continued to rage on, and the death eaters never backed down, even when the light side continued to dominate the battlefield. It was still a dark time for the wizarding world, many wizards still live in hiding in fear of being attacked in their own home.
It was now the middle of August, and Narcissa had settled down in the Potter manor, she and Draco shared a room on the second floor. When Draco woke up, the sun was shining low in the sky, there was still a hint of orange and pink hues reflecting. Barefoot, he stepped a tentative foot on the grass covered in dandelion and little flowers, he felt the cold morning dew against his warm little foot and then took a few more steps. He saw in the distance a deer jumping around a little kid, curious, he went further near the forest edge where the animal and little child were.
“Draco? What are you doing outside?” Lily asked him.
He jumped a little, not expecting the voice behind him, he looked back at the redhead and quickly looked back to where the deer was supposed to be, but it had vanished.“I saw something”
Lily smiled warmly at the blonde boy in front of her, “It was probably a small rabbit, there is quite a bunch around here. Although, you should not wander near the forest alone at this time, come back inside for breakfast.” She put her hand out for him to take.
Draco took her hand and let Lily lead him back inside the manor. In the kitchen, the table was full of delicious food to eat. Draco spotted his mother around the table and went to sit next to her, but it seemed that a chatting Sirius already filled the chair. He then looked around and saw the empty chair next to the boy his age, Harry.
“May I sit next to you?”
Surprised, Harry looked at him and after a few seconds, he gave Draco a big smile: “Sure!”
Draco climbed the chair, they were very high for a normal kitchen chair, he then looked around at the food that was on the table at his disposition. He saw a pile of fresh pancakes sitting perfectly near him that looked delicious. He took a few with the help of James who was sitting next to Harry and poured syrup on top of them and put some strawberries on after. They were his favourite fruit. There was a glass of orange juice waiting for him, poured kindly by Lily. He spent the next 20 minutes eating slowly his breakfast while the adults were talking about the plans for the day.
Harry, who had eaten his food in a record time, waited patiently for when Draco would have taken his very last bite. He jumped up excitedly when he saw that he had finished his plate, “We should play together!” Harry exclaimed as he tugged on Draco’s sleeve to bring him towards his playroom.
