Chapter 1

~Y/n~

As I walked down the corridors with my sister, I couldn't help but notice how dull the school had gotten since my first year. I guess six years of practically living in the same school makes it appear more... tiresome from time to time. My sister, Hermione, linked my arm while we walked, something we did while we were together.

I heard sniggering from some students behind us but didn't bother to turn around and look.

"Where's Ron and Harry?" Hermione asked, looking to the side, she fixed her bangs out of her face so she could see in front of her.

"I'm not sure... I think they said they would run late though." I replied as we reached the entrance to the potions class and walked through it. We were greeted by Professor Slughorn who knew who I was because Harry and I ran into him earlier.

"Ah, Hello Y/n! This must be your sister if I remember correctly?" He gestured to Hermione and I nodded, "You two just stand in the middle of the room, I am going to do a demonstration once the whole class arrives."

"Thank you, sir." You said with a smile and tugged Hermione in the middle of the class, right in front of all the potions that were on display. I was smiling until I saw who Slughorn greeted next.

Draco Malfoy, the one and only. I rolled my eyes at the sight of him. When I arrived here, I never expected to have an enemy at Hogwarts, it's the most cliche thing I could think of. But Malfoy is just so... infuriating. Not only did he call Hermione a mudblood while we were kids, but he specifically hated me. He called me mudblood daily. One time we were at Hogsmeade and he decided to spill hot Butterbeer on me because I said it was cold. He never did hurt me, but he threatened to. All the time. Saying that with Voldemort's return, all the mudbloods and their families will be dead before you can say Expelliarmus. It honestly sucked being in the same classes as him. Most of my classes were with him actually, and the rest of my friends all chose different classes as well, including Hermione.

I glared at Draco as Slughorn instructed him to stand next to me, but as we made eye contact, he did not say anything. He barely even made a face. I was surprised, he just stood next to me and waited for the rest of the class to arrive. It was unsettling with him beside me, I know he wanted to say something evil but maybe he is scared of Slughorn. No, that can't be it... he howled in the middle of a DADA class, and Snape barely even did anything.

Eventually, the class slowly filled up, we were all huddled close together, in the middle of the room while Slughorn started to introduce the class and what we would be doing this year. It sounded rather interesting, but I loved the Potions class. When he was about to tell us about the potions on display, Harry and Ron suddenly walked into the room, making everyone's heads turn.

"Harry my boy! I was just beginning to worry." He greeted me. Ron also introduced himself, but not only were they late, but they also didn't have their potion books. I made contact with Harry and raised my brows, he responded with a look that said: 'Mind your beeswax' I smirked and forwarded my attention to the potions Slughorn went back to explaining. Of course, Hermions decided to raise her hand to explain most of them.

However, when she got to Amortentia... she was unable to say anything. Amortentia is the most powerful Love Potion, and you can smell who or what you're attracted to. So if you know what your 'partner' smelled like, you would smell them. It's sort of weird, and creepy if you think about it.

My focus shifted from the back of Hermione hair, to what looked like Ron and Harry fighting over a potions book. I chuckled a bit watching them.

"Granger, pay attention." I heard beside me. It was Draco, as usual, he nudged my arm and I huffed.

"Shut up, Malfoy-"

"Y/n? Are you paying attention?" Slughorn cut me off. My eyes widened and I could practically feel Draco smirking at me without looking. I quickly nodded and Slughorn raised a brow, "Would you mind telling the class what you smell then? Your sister seems to have lost her sense of smell."

Slughorn chuckled a bit, and I couldn't just say no. Besides, I don't like anyone, nor do I think it will tell me what my future lover would smell like. That would be quite impossible... I think.

"Sure... why not," I said and stepped forward before smelling the pink humid wafts of the potion in the air. Harry and Ron took my place behind me, next to my sister as I explained what I smelled, "That strange..."

I thought about what I was smelling, "I smell what I think is sour apples...and...expensive cologne... and a forest..."

I heard Draco snicker behind me and whipped my head around to scowl at him. But I have to admit, it did sound very specific... and silly. I mean, why would I like someone who wears cologne? That's oddly specific... especially since I said it smelled expensive...

"Draco? Do you have something to say to the class? Would you also like to explain what you smell?" Slughorn asked and I smirked. The smile was wiped off his face as he stepped up beside me.

"This is your doing, mudblood." He whispered to me and I just smirked. He took a smell of the Amortentia and furrowed his brow, "Vanilla, and... pumpkin pasties...and butterbeer." He said.

Now that he mentioned those foods, I'm hungry. The whole class seemed amused, seeing how we smelled different things. A few girls came up behind me to try and get a whiff of the potion, but Slughorn covered it. I could tell some of them wanted to snag some to probably put in some cookies or something...

Eventually, class ended. Harry was able to obtain a vial of Liquid Luck by making a Draught of Living Death. He let me look at it on the way out, I walked next to him and handed it back to him after a second.

"It's fascinating how one can just become lucky. It's just making you make the right decisions... but in your favor." I say to him and look out the hall window. The sun was about to set and we all had to get ready for dinner. I however wasn't going to attend the dinner.

Recently, I have been going to the library to get books. Not the informational books of course... the fictional ones. There's a small section of fictional books in the Hogwarts Library, and it's usually all gone when I get there, but at night the books usually float back to their shelves because students like to not return them.

Ron was walking behind us, "I heard they're having pumpkin pastries for dessert today Y/n." He said trying to bribe me to come to dinner.

I gave him a look, "I will have Hermione bring me back some then, right Mione?" I turned to my sister who gave me a look.

"Why aren't you coming to dinner?" Harry asked, and I sighed.

"I usually go the library-"

"She's probably the one letting all those elves loose." Draco said walking by us and lingering there for a few seconds, "I heard it was because muggles don't have servants, they feel bad for the creatures." He spat at us.

I scowled at him, "It's cruel-"

"Whatever." He glared down at me, "Mudbloods must all think the same." He said and walked off. I clenched my fist.

"He's such an evil little-"

"Did you hear? His father got sent to Azkaban." Harry said suddenly, cutting me off. My eyes widened, but I frowned.

"Oh. I'd almost forgotten that he's the son of a death eater." I sighed, "That's probably why he wasn't bothering me so much earlier."

We made it to the Gryffindor Common room and I walked up to my dorm, where Ginny was already waiting. She was curling her eyelashes with her wand and I smirked because she was using my mirror. I didn't mind her using my mirror but she always jumps as if she's been caught using an unforgivable curse and I find it funny.

"Who are you getting dolled up for?" I said and she jumped like I predicted. I laughed as she spun around and glared at me.

"I hate you. And Nobody." She said and continued to use my mirror. I saw her hair was braided very messily and knew it was because she didn't know how to braid. She has six older brothers for god's sake. I know that Fred and George know how to braid hair, because once while Bill was sleeping he braided Gillyweeds into his hair. Ginny had told me they braid her hair sometimes, but she doesn't trust them very much.

"Do you want me to braid your hair?" I asked walking over and pulling a loose stand to show her it was messy.

"Does it look bad?" She asked and I laughed.

"You made a single braid, you're making progress," I said and brushed out her hair and within seconds, her hair was neatly braided. I made sure to leave some strands out to frame her face, and she continued to do her makeup.

"Are you coming to dinner? Or heading to the library?"

I gave her a knowing look, "Make sure to save me a Pumpkin pastley." I said, with a smile.

"And you make sure not to get caught by Filch." She warned and I nodded.

Last time I was out I got detention for being caught in the library after hours. It was a Prefect who ratted me out. More specifically, Draco Malfoy. I sighed, I will just have to be careful because, unfortunately, he is still a prefect.
