A Terrible Albeit Creative Idea

"Someone TELL me I heard wrong." Kagome of the Edo Demon Harem was fuming, nearly kicking down the council door in her huff. She was the center of a small and not terribly powerful harem, and had no place on the council, born to the southern garden rather than the central. But without a doubt, the firecracker was the strongest personality of the strange garden. "I had just gotten the hang of this academy's rules and what I'm supposed to be."

Behind her, the north-garden-born Serena stood. She hardly had the strength of personality, but the Planetary Harem was unquestionably the strongest ever born to the northern garden, so she had been thrust upwards into leadership far before she was ready.

Yuna, this year's elected Queen, was as calm and thoughtful as she always was, sitting on the very cushy lounge that was her throne as if it were a normal chair rather than sprawling on it like her the founding predecessor Cleopatra had meant for.

To her left, the new little sprout who had just recently remembered her name but apparently not yet remembered her personality, Kairi, sat there looking at Yuna in hopes that she would know what to do.

It was reasonable for them to all be uneasy and upset. The ladies of the Academy might not remember who they were or where they came from when they were born to The Garden, or one of its protecting gardens around it. But they were not bound to the campus or garden grounds, free to walk across its surrounding bubble and see what lay outside.

What women lived out there were not more than sex objects, token cliches, or slaves who had to constantly guess what was desired from their hero to stay in a man's good graces. Or they were taken to the region referred to as Hentai.

They knew what the people known as “men” were like without a life center of a woman to love and improve themself for, what kinds of packs they formed when that pack wasn't built on aligned values with a pure heart at the center of it.

And now, a MAN had been admitted as a CENTER POINT at the Academy?

A center point was the authority for a group born in the garden, their flower blooming outward to create the giant buds from which members of their Harem stepped forth. Some, like Luna, emerged with all of their Harem at once, each fully-grown and beautifully-muscled figure stretching their arms upward in the sunlight as their natural little leaf tents opened and revealed them to the world. For some, like the students' "big sister" Himeno, some emerged with their Center while other buds stayed closed for a while - some of the younger ones, it had been hypothesized, needed extra time to reach full adulthood and emerge in the form they'd be in for the rest of their existence. In rare instances, a Center like Kagome would appear; she had a number of physically fit protectors and followers emerging alongside, a proper number that everyone assumed was her entire harem, except for the one bud that had needed extra time.

But the southern garden was a strange one. The birth place of Cleopatra herself, the southern garden boasted a strange ability to have buds grow in a Center's section after she had emerged. Since, there had been a few Edo-Era Demons (whatever that meant) with no inherent connection to Kagome or any member of her harem that were born in her garden regardless, and then adopted into her group.

The southern garden was so weird.

The northern garden was often considered the most holy and sacred of places. The Winx fairies had been the strongest magically gifted Harem until Serena and her Planetary Harem had arrived, the place usually only creating small clusters of flowers here and there, leading to very little total power capable of being channeled through their center at once.

The northern garden was sacred because there was never anyone born to it that had all the markings of Going Dark, if loosed from their tether. In all of their members, none was of the type with that possessive or entitled undercurrent capable of taking them over if separated from the cooling and fulfilling magic of their "Heart", their center, their pack. That type was particularly dangerous outside of the bubble... if the group made the mistake of stepping over the grounds into the lands known as Hentai, they would find themselves either consumed by that darkness without any hopes of resisting it despite their best attempts, OR they would be easily overpowered and dragged off by the beings who had given into that world.

These types, their world called "men".

And now, for the first time in its history, the Academy had deemed a Harem with a MAN at the center of it - a STRAIGHT man surrounded by WOMEN - as fulfilling all of the requirements to receive the universe's blessing and admission to the school.

The resulting response was a unanimous "what the fuck?!?!?!"

At first, everyone thought that maybe (despite the tell-tale beard) it was just someone who LOOKED like a man, but was actually of some other gender identity, or someone shapeshifting. They had taken them to the temple stone to find out.

It had gone dark with potential-malice. He was a man.

All of the school's most powerful summoners and their followers had gone white in the face with panic. Not that their faces weren't all pretty white before.

And now The Council had gathered their stunned selves in high tower of the lunar sanctum, as chosen representatives piled up at the door clamoring with concerns and confusion. Tohru Honda was trying desperately to calm everyone down and ensure them that the council would answer all of their concerns soon, but as only centers were allowed in the sanctum she didn't have her normal bodyguards to add emphasis to her polite requests that everyone let her close the door so the meeting could begin. Impatient, Sakura finally got up and kicked Kagome out of the room. Literally. The sanctum wall healed itself, closing up the Kagome-shaped hole in the wall without need for any aid or magic. The whole Academy did that.

When the door finally closed, and something close to silence was granted the room, it was a moment before anyone spoke.

This was a disaster.

But Katara couldn't help her forming a smile, even as her best friend Haruhi Fujioka hit her in the shoulder at the sight of it.

Things had gotten pretty boring at the academy recently.

And Katara, over time, had learned to prefer when things were fun.
