The Summoning
Meanwhile at the House of Gaunt Records seated 5 fully cloaked figures waiting for their interview to begin. Each figure was covered head to toe in a black cloak with a mask that was carved with runes and painted either Ivory, Silver, Gold, Red and Green. Their arms were covered in the darkest shade of black paint and their eyes were concealed. Even when standing they were all enchanted to be the same height. No one knew who these members were, that was the appeal. No one in all of Europe has ever interviewed them. There is no trace of who they are and what they look like. Hell, even their gender is a mystery. That is why when Emmeline Vance got the letter to do a private interview with The Band she jumped at the chance. Shaking her nerves away she finally walked into the room, there they were the Band of Ghost. “Hello I’m Emmeline Vance. I’ll be doing your interview. It’s an honor to meet you.” She said as she went to shake their hands. No one moves, they all just stare at her. Realizing no one is going to shake it, she quickly puts it at her side and gives a nervous smile.
“Do start this interview Ms. Vance, they need to start rehearsal soon.” Severus stated with annoyance.
“Oh yes.. Please tell me your names and how this band started.” Emmeline says.
“Are you an idiot, out of the question, we told you asking about their identity is non-negotiable.” Snape bellowed. Emmeline cowered at the tone; how can she forget it was in her letter. “I apologize again, it's just a standard question I” “-It's fine” said a deep baritone voice. She turned her head back to the band. The member with the Ivory mask nods their head. “I understand your emotions but do keep them in line, we thought you were smarter than that. To answer one of your questions, we started this band by a complete accident.”
“It was fate if you believe in that” said the Silver mask whose voice was also Baritone. Emmeline quickly realized it wasn’t just physical disclosure they also changed their voice. “Why go through all of the trouble to hide your identity and why Hogwarts?” Emmeline asked while trying to write all their answers. “Why not? Why should the world know us? We are not their playthings.” The Green masked member said while leaning back into their chair.”
“Hogwarts was a place where everyone is supposed to be equal, no? Well, we thought how ironic it would be for a band that hides who they are to play at a place that is meant to make us all equal. But we are not all equal, are we? At that school, you are separated and deemed a monster or hero depending on your house. Where your family’s past and name will determine your fate. So, we picked Hogwarts as a way of saying FUCK YOU. You will never be our equal. You will never know us, but we will know you.” The Red mask said while getting closer to Emmeline with only the small tea table between them.
“You keep asking the wrong questions, we really did think you were smarter than that.” The Gold Member said while making eye contact with Emmeline. Emmeline felt a chill go down her back, that feeling of being in trouble as a child. “What question should I have asked?” she said in a unsure voice. They all stand up tall and make their way to the door with Severus. “You should have asked us if we have any pain, regrets, what inspires our lyrics. But all you asked was why Hogwarts and why the masks. Are you hiding from something or running from someone? Such a shame that this was pointless.” The Ivory mask said in a taunting tone while stopping in the doorway.
“I should have known, all you Gryffindor’s really are cowards.” they said as the door slammed shut causing Emmeline to jump, she was so lost in thought that she didn’t realize they knew her, but she didn’t know them. Emmaline heads home and begins her article, still lost in translation of what happened at the interview; her article is pushed to 2 days. Once the article is out, word has made its way through the Magical world that The Heirs of Ouroboros will be performing at Hogwarts. All of Magic Blood makes their way to Scotland in hopes of seeing the first inconspicuous Band. To break the wall of Muggle and Magic.
The day of the concert quickly came, after the article was released The Heir of Ouroboros seemed to have caused hysteria among the wizardry world but not as shocking as the Pureblood community. The Purebloods were outraged as their precious children were being consumed by the lyrics and questioning their upbringing. It seems that this band's music was doing something the noble School of Hogwarts failed to do for centuries. Their music was binding the blood statues, causing all prejudice to fall with each beat and guitar rift. After all, there seems to be rumors that the Members were all together in some kind of sexual relationship, but again the article had little to no proof of that being the truth. One would think that Albus and Grindelwald eliciting a 30-year love affair would have caused a bigger uproar. But sadly no, the mysterious band was what caught the world by storm.
James and his friends make it to the Hogwarts grounds, there were already hundreds of people. They make their way to the quidditch field, James can't help but feel pain in his chest at the memory of being there last. They take a look around the field and see all fans and businesses that have come out and support this band. Sirius looks at the field and sees the goal post and there by the Slytherin stands he sees a floating stage and on the sides of the stage he sees 2 giant screens on both sides. This band must be amazing for there to be such a presentation set up. “They really pulled everything out for them, didn't they? Be a shame if they suck.” Marlene said, snapping everyone out of their inner thoughts.
James' heart sinks and feels like a bar of lead has dropped into his stomach; he swears he can still “His Regulus’” heartbreak over all the chanting in the air. He shakes his head and goes back to the conversation amongst his friends.
“They seem to have caught some attraction, so I don’t think they suck.” Remus said while trying to keep Sirius from running off. “I still say they suck; I mean come on they're no Bowie or Queen, better yet they're not ABBA.” Sirius says with a pout as he tries to fix his lipstick.
“You're so dramatic Black.” Mary says with a giggle.
“Just to let you know we’re in the front, the stage will go up and down the whole time. We were also given backstage passes.” Lily stated as she passed them out.
“Snape got us the full package aye, trying to get back to being super friendly.” Peter says as he walks back to the group with fish and chips. “Yes, Peter like I said were friends.'' Lily replied as they made their way to the front. Security meets them in front of the stage telling them that this is as close to the stage there as allowed due to safety reasons.
Boom the sounds of a firing cannon goes off causing the stands to scream. Fireworks and wizards take to the sky putting on a show. The fireworks release green, silver and red into the sky. The wizards cast Dragons and Phoenixes into the crowds. Then as quickly as they start them it comes to an end causing a green fog to cast into the sky. Creating a Skull with its mouth opened and releasing a slithering serpent into the sky.
“Death Eater” an unknown wizard says next to them, proudly wearing their Slytherin uniform. “Death what?" Remus replied, looking at the child. “That's what the fans are called Death Eaters.” The student said, giving Remus a look over. Before Remus can respond a voice cuts him off. Causing the crowd to be silent.
“We’ve seemed to have caused a bit of a stir. We wish we could say sorry but.. hahaha to be honest why should we. You want to know who we are? Don’t you Pet? Where are we from? Hmm what do we look like? Do you really want to know?” The voice was rich and hypnotic. It drew you in like a moth to flame. Much like a snake enchanting its prey, but snakes don't enchant their prey do they. The Marauders and friends were hypnotized, this band hadn't even started playing but they were hooked.
All the lights from the stand’s turnoff, The Pitch is completely black.
“What the fuck was that?” Sirius said confused but eyes never leaving the stage. The crowd begins to scream in anticipation as camera lights go off. Then as quick as lighting the strumming of a guitar breaks the sound. A beam of red light makes its way to the guitarist. The stage begins to lower and slowly the other instruments and members begin to make the stage. Drums beating the heart of the song. Bass bringing light with the rhythmic guitarist brings the pain. Then a white beam of light hits in the middle of the crowd and that same rich voice brings life into the melody. James and Sirius can't help but lose their breath at the scene in front of them. The singer walks through the crowd, no one touches them as they walk but instead all the wizards bend on one knee with their wands casting a lumos to their chest. The shadows reflecting from the light cause a haunting look to them.
“This bloody brilliant mate.” Peter whispers and the others can't help but agree. The singer makes it to their area. The group of friends can't help but kneel and do the same, like Remus said this band was entrancing, you can't help but obey. The singer makes it to the stage and the show begins, the stage ascends off the ground and begins to float up into the sky.
Snape can't help but look at Lily and her miscreant friends following the routine of the fans. A mischievous smirk makes it to his face. He may be an adult but there is something appealing about seeing your bullies bow down.
The Bassist and Guitarist make eye contact with each other and move closer to the front entering the singer's peripheral vision. The drummer nodded in agreement with their bandmate’s movements, before flicking their wrists and releasing a trick of the bone shaped drumsticks. The Guitarist moves closer to the singer as their solo begins, and the stage slowly makes its way down. The crowd began to scream with anticipation with the next verse and solo. With the stage on the ground the singer begins to seductively move to the floor of the stage. Crawling on their knees to the front edge of the stage stopping in front of James and Sirius. The singer lays flat on their back and looks as the Green masked guitarist walks towards them and stands over them. As the solo comes to an end, the singer begins to sing their final verse causing the crowd to stop.
“They’re together, you know, the singer and guitarist.” The teen said, snapping the group out of the trance.
“What do you mean, how do you know?” Sirius replied, and he hates to admit it but he does like this band. “Look.” the teen replied, causing them all to look back at the stage.
“Oh, and my love” -James freezes that siren-like voice.
Did I mistake you for a sign from God?
Or are you really here to cut me off?
Or maybe just to turn me on?”
James eyes following like a hunter as he watches the singer's hand caress the guitarist's body. His hands slowly moved up and to their chest then slowly made their way down to the legs. The hands don't stop until they make it to their inner thighs.
“Cause these days
I would be lying if I told you that
I didn't wish that I could be your man
Or maybe make a good girl bad
I've got a river running right into you
I've got a blood trail, red in the blue
Something you say or something you do
The taste of the divine”
James knew who that was. Whose voice it was, there was only one person who said that his kisses tasted like a divine fruit sent from the Gods. He knew whose voice it was that carried all that pain and turmoil. He was the reason for it.
But in the crowd, there was another soul who knew that voice, knew that pain that was carried. It was the same voice that called his name, a voice that held such hope and pride. A voice that held such love and devotion. Sirius Black would be able to recognize his baby's voice in a crowded room. Sirius and James recognized the voice behind that Mask. It was Regulus.
“You've got my body, flesh and bone” Both men knew that Reggie was a part of them.
The sky above, the Earth below
Nothing to say and nowhere to go” James and Sirius abandoning him.
A taste of the divine” To Regulus Both shining so bright and so far away from him like a God. As the melody begins to close the stage becomes black and the crowd goes wild. All that is left from the band is their symbol in the sky once again and the crowd feeling a hunger for more.
“Regulus” Sirius whimpers as tears leave his eyes causing heads to look at him. James can’t take his eyes off the stage where His Reggie performs. No not his Reggie anymore.
“My Reggie” James says quietly but not quiet enough to go unnoticed by Sirius.
“What the Fuck did you say?!” Sirius bellowed.
Causing five heads to snap in their direction, yet James is staring at Sirius almost as if to confirm what his heart has been screaming at him since the moment, he had heard the first lyric.
