Chapter 8
TW: Mentions of past self-harm
The song is a modified version of Friends Don’t by Maddie and Tae
(This is happening at the same time as the last chapter)
Regulus’ POV:
I was just walking to class when the door to the Room of Requirements appeared before me.
I was confused because the last time this had happened was when Evan was struggling with self-harm.
He would go to the Room of Requirements to hurt himself and the door would appear to me, Pandora, and/or Barty.
I rushed through the door only to hear the most beautiful voice I’ve ever heard.
“They don't cancel other plans
Have conversations with nothin' but their eyes
They don't hear each others' names and forget to concentrate
Hits a nerve and lights you up like dynamite”
I hit behind a very convenient bookshelf and listened to the song.
“Friends don't call you in the middle of the night
Couldn't even tell you why, they just felt like sayin' ‘hi’
Friends don't stand around playin' with their wand
Findin' reasons not to leave, tryin' to hide the tension risin’
Walk a little too slow
Take the long way back
Get a little too close
We do but, but friends don't”
The voice was like honey on a sour throat. It had a hint of roughness but it was still so smooth.
“They don't almost say ‘I love you’
When they're in the common room, just a little drunk
They don't talk about the future and put each other in it
And get chills with every accidental touch”
I peeked out from behind the shelf to find Evan playing bass and singing his heart out.
“Friends don't call you in the middle of the night
Couldn't even tell you why, they just felt like sayin' ‘hi’
Friends don't stand around playin' with their wand
Findin' reasons not to leave, tryin' to hide the tension risin’
Walk a little too slow
Take the long way back
Get a little too close
We do but, but friends don't”
His eyes opened and we locked eyes.
He froze and looked at me like I was a bludger coming straight for him.
What he didn’t realize was I was somewhat of a singer myself.
“I keep tellin' myself this might be nothin'
But one look in your eyes and Merlin, there's somethin'
You can lie to me and say you don't
But I know you do
And I love you, too”
He smiled at me and we finished together.
“Friends don't call you in the middle of the night
Couldn't even tell you why, they just felt like sayin' ‘hi’
Friends don't stand around playin' with their wand
Findin' reasons not to leave, tryin' to hide the tension risin’

We do but, but friends don't”
I walked over to him and we both just stared at each other for a second before his lips were on mine.
He pushed me backward into the very bookshelf I had used to hide from him as he licked my lips trying to force his tongue into my mouth.
I allowed him in and we continued making out like that for what had to have been at least 10 minutes.
We both finally pulled back panting hard.
“You love me?” Was the first thing out of his mouth.
I smiled a rare, but genuine, smile and huffed out a laugh. “Yes, dumbass. I love you.”
Evan ran a hand through his hair and huffed, “What are we gonna do about James and Barty?”
“I have no idea. Barty hates James and James still thinks this is a prank.” I replied while trying to pull Evan closer.
I had gotten a taste and wanted more.
“We could always just snog in here and then go talk to them, I mean I’ve got a free period and do you really want to walk into McGonagall’s class this late?” Evan said while he moved his face to my neck.
I looked to the wall where the Room of Requirement had so helpfully supplied a clock that told me I was more than 30 minutes late for class.
So, naturally, I took Evan up on his offer.
