Confusion, misery and despair
After that night, nothing was ever quite the same again. About a month following the event, Lyall became ill, angered and short tempered. In going to St Mungos, they found the huge gash in his stomach, and it was subsequently discovered that it was a ‘werewolf bite’, and though Remus hadn’t an idea what that meant for his dad, he knew it wasn’t good, as the gasps of horror from surrounding people spread like wildfire and soon, it felt like everyone had sympathies, gifts and prayers to offer Lyall.
The following morning, Lyall was released from hospital. Remus, in the short time he’d visited his dad, had become rather accustomed to the bustling, busy environment of St Mungo’s, and in fact had begun to rather enjoy it. The helping and healing staff were especially kind to him, specifically his dad’s nurse, Euphemia. She was an apprentice, and cared so very greatly about every individual patient. Remus vowed to be as kind and helpful a healer as her when he was grown.
At home, a sense of normality began to grow again. That was, for the first day, until the aurors came and ruined everything.
Hope, Lyall and Remus were sat around the living room, playing music on the radio and listening calmly. Remus could remember Queen’s ‘Crazy Little Thing Called Love’ started to play, Remus’ parent’ song.
This thing called love
I just can’t handle it
This thing called love
I must get ‘round to it
I ain’t ready
“Crazy little thing called love,” his parents sang merrily, their laughter infectious as they danced across the room, dragging Remus with them. Of course, Remus was jubilant and eagerly dancing too, the three of them forgetting the events that transpired the last week and allowing themself to be lost to the music.
However, their amusement was short-lived, as an unfamiliar knock sounded at the door. Aurors came rushing in, detaining Remus’ dad, who confused and enraged, resisted.
“I haven’t done anything wrong. What’s going on?” He half-shouted. The head auror, ‘mad-eye moody’ replied only with a grunt, and muttering something about,
“bloody werewolves, liars the whole lot of ‘em”. With that, the aurors disapparated, taking Lyall with them.
“Dad?” Remus pleaded to the thin air. He had been rigid in shock, and now it was too late. They had taken his dad, his family, the only man he had ever trusted, and been gone. “Please, bring my dad back to me.” Remus sobbed in his mother’s arms, Hope crying silent tears, comforting her son. Her beautiful, beautiful son, who was in endless pain at his father being stolen from him. As they wept to each other, the song continued, fading out as it sang.
