The Adults Never Help
Alethea nodded and looked at Professor Snape, “How much danger are we in professor?”
Professor Snape sighed and looked back at her, when they locked eyes, something that had never happened before occurred.
‘Bloody Headmaster sending the students back to their dorms, the Slytherins and hufflepuffs are in the dungeons… Now how did that blasted troll get in…’
Alethea’s eyes widened for a split second before she looked away, Arthur tossed a look at her. She flicked her hand lightly to show later. Professor Snape cleared his throat, “We aren’t in a lot of danger, however, I need you two to head directly to your dorms, a house elf will bring you food.”
Alethea and Arthur both nodded their heads and Alethea began gathering the things she needed to take back to her dorm. They locked eyes behind Professor Snape’s back “I will escort you both back to the common rooms, once you enter I am sealing the doors behind you and you will be there for the rest of the night.”
Professor Snape billowed his robes behind him as he lead the two back down to the dungeons. When they got to the Hufflepuff dorms Arthur gave Alethea a quick look before saying goodnight to the two Slytherins and heading into the dorms. “What was that look about?” Professor Snape asked Alethea as they continued to the Slytherins dorms.
“Oh he was just telling me to be safe” Alethea said, smiling sweetly at the professor. Professor Snape didn’t say anything but you could tell he wasn’t buying it that much. As they started getting closer to the Slytherins dorms Professor Snape was slowly speeding up his pace.
Once they were at the Slytherin’s common room Professor Snape looked at Alethea and said “Stay here and let the adults handle everything” before he turned and left. Now one thing you should know about Alethea and Arthur is they don’t like listening to the adults. They know everyone there listens and follows Dumbledore blindly without question, even though some of those commands put the lives of children at risk. Alethea’s father taught her how to fight for a reason. She snapped her fingers transforming her clothes into a pair of dragon hide trousers and top with her hair up and a sword at her hip. Another quick snap made another Alethea appear next to her wearing her old outfit. She nodded her head at herself making her walk into the commons while the real Alethea disillusioned herself and walked quickly to the kitchen where there was a secret exit from Hufflepuff, more specifically Arthur’s dorm room.
Arthur met Alethea before Arthur grimaced and led them towards the first floor girls bathroom. They hear the sound of something breaking and Hermione scream. Alethea runs towards the bathroom brandishing her goblin silver sword. Arthur hesitates some but his worry for the girl outweighs the embarrassment of entering a girls bathroom.
“Hermione!” Alethea yells as she enters the bathroom with Arthur right behind her. When they entered they saw Hermione, Harry, Ron, and Draco on one side of the bathroom with the troll in front of them. Draco was right in front of Hermione, Harry was next to Draco on his left side, and Ron was next to Harry. All three of them had their wands out pointing at the troll trying hard to keep it away from Hermione.
When the four younger kids heard Alethea calling out to Hermione they all turned their heads towards the two older kids. “Hey ugly how about pick on someone your own size” Arthur yelled at the troll trying to get its attention on him and not the four younger children.
Once the troll turned its head, Alethea ran at it and slashed at its leg causing it to roar. She kept swinging causing it to move away from the kids, she twitched her head towards them and Arthur went to move the kids out of the bathroom. After a couple slashes at the troll, she takes out a dagger that she had strapped to her arm and throws it at the troll’s neck, embedding it and causing the troll to fall to the ground after dropping its club.
Alethea starts to turn around before going back and picking some troll hair before turning around and heading towards Arthur and the kids. She smiles lightly at them, her hair puffy in its bun and mania in her eyes, “Arty shall we take our wayward kids back to their dorms?”
The four younger kids were shocked. They were having trouble just keeping the troll away from them but she was able to take it down by herself. “Yeah, let's drop off these three first before heading to the Slytherins dorm. I’ll be fine heading to mine by myself but you used a lot of energy so I’ll drop you two off before heading to mine.” Arthur said as he comforted Hermione in his arms.
Alethea nodded her head knowing Arthur is in his protective mood and it’s best not to argue with him. Arthur and Alethea had to be careful taking them back to their dorms. As much as people would think using the disillusion spell would make it easy for them to sneak back to the dorms it was a lot harder than it seemed. The four younger kids were so alarmed by what happened that they were jumping out of their skin every time they heard something. Once they were able to drop the golden trio off in their dorm they quickly headed towards the Slytherins dorms.
“Arthur we will be able to make it the rest of the way just fine, you can go ahead to your dorms” Alethea said trying to convince him that she is fine now.
“No, you have used too much magic and physical strength. I will walk you both to your dorms before heading off to my own house dorms.” Arthur says not listening to her at all as he continues to walk with the Slytherin to their dorm.
Alethea shakes her head and smiles before stifling a yawn behind her hand. She keeps yawning every couple steps as the adrenaline wears off. Once they get to the slytherin walls causing it to open. She smiles and kisses Arthur on the cheek before heading in with Draco gathered in her arms. Once they enter the commons they head straight towards the first year boys dorm where Alethea hugs Draco close and kisses the top of Draco's head and mumbling into his hair “I am here for you dragon, if you ever need someone to talk to come to me and i will always protect you like i will always protect the first years.”
She smiled and headed to her dorm, quickly waving her wand - too tired to use wandless magic, dispels the disillusion and her copy before changing into one of her weasley sweaters that she stole from George and a pair of satin sleep shorts, and taking her hair out of its bun, putting it into her bonnet. She starts to lay in her bed before completely collapsing onto it, passing out. Gilbert slowly manages to cover alethea up and coils around her face and on her chest making sure that she’s okay through the night.
Arthur smiles as alethea and draco’s backs before heading to the hufflepuff common room. Once he gets to his dorm, he drops his disillusionment and goes about his trunk deciding on a snack to bring to alethea in the morning. After a couple minutes, he finds some blood pop muffins. After getting them, arthur falls asleep covered up in his blankets.
