Chapter 3

The air was thick with smoke and gunfire, but all Y/N could hear was the pounding of her own heart. The broken door lay twisted on the floor, ripped from its hinges with unnatural force.

And there stood Wanda.

She was looking at her like she needed her. Like she had been waiting for her.

Y/N hated it.

She clenched her fists, forcing herself to step forward. To move past them. To leave.

But Natasha was faster.

The redhead shifted, subtly blocking her path.

Y/N tensed. “Move.”

Natasha arched a brow, unimpressed. “Not even a thank you?”

Y/N didn’t answer.

She was aware of them in a way that unsettled her. Their scents, their presence, the way Wanda’s gaze lingered on her like she was afraid Y/N would vanish.

She knew what it meant. What they were.

But that didn’t change a damn thing.

Wanda took a slow step forward, eyes searching Y/N’s face. There was something vulnerable in her expression, something open.

“You don’t have to be alone anymore,” she murmured, voice just above a whisper. “We’re here now.”

Y/N’s jaw tightened.

She didn’t want them to be here. They can’t be here. She didn’t want to need them.

Natasha, in contrast, seemed entirely unbothered by Y/N’s coldness. She smirked, arms crossed as if this was all a game to her. “She’s not going to melt just because you say something sweet, Wanda.”

Wanda frowned at her, clearly unimpressed with Natasha’s approach. But Y/N didn’t let her dwell on it.

“The exit?” she demanded.

Natasha’s smirk didn’t waver. “This way, solnyshko. Try to keep up.”

Wanda lingered, just for a second longer, before following.

Y/N ignored the warmth curling in her chest at the way Natasha said solnyshko like she already knew Y/N was hers. She ignored the hope in Wanda’s eyes, the way she seemed to ache for Y/N to look at her the same way.

She ignored everything but the mission.

Get out. Escape. Survive.

Whatever came after didn’t matter.
