Two-Rose and Scorpius
One day before Christmas Eve-Thursday-
Rose Weasley-Malfoy had taken off work for the next week as the daycare was closed. It was her son’s second Christmas. She had all the wrapping paper in their master bedroom out. Busy with all the gifts. She had organized by families. She had gotten each family a board game this year. Her parents and Hugo got their own gifts. Liam’s gifts were mainly boxes and bags of clothes. They did get him more dragon and other animals he enjoyed. He was too young to know it was Christmas still. He just looked at Father Christmas like he was anyone else he knew and smiled up at the old man in Diagon Alley. He was waving in the photo on the mantel even. Draco had laughed when he got his framed photo. Currently she had 30 more minutes until her son’s afternoon nap was over. She needed to wrap all of Scorpius stuff before he came home from the Ministry. Draco and her had gone to Selfridges. A few new cashmere sweaters and a new Montrose hat. Plus some new quills for work and a few notebooks.
She took the wrapped board games downstairs under the tree. They had a tall skinny tree pre-lit for their front window. If you stood outside it glowed and it was pretty. All the bulbs shined as the over head lights in the front sitting room were on. She stuff the games in the back then set Liam’s in the front. They would put the gate up so he couldn’t get to them. She then went to the kitchen and took out all the cookies supplies. She planned on getting Liam to help ice them or something.
She then wrapped all of Scorpius items and put large ribbons on them with handwritten name tags. The presents looked so good. “Mum”, Liam called out. She heard him in the baby monitor. He had a small big kid bed now. “Coming darling”, Rose called out. She walked into his light colored green room. They had put up photos of the families and quidditch posters framed. Nothing too babyish. They wanted to the room to transition with him as he grew up. “Hi”, Rose said picking him up. He was almost 3 now and potty trained. It was really Rose’s big accomplishment honestly. Rose let him down and he ran to the loo. They had a small toilet for him. “Done”, Liam said out to her. “Good job mate”, Rose said and helped him wash his hands. Liam was very smart and hated waiting so one day at a Quidditch match Scorpius just kind of showed him what to do and that was it. He still had a nappy on sometimes still incase of accidents. The muggle kind that was easy for kids. Rose put one on him and then put him in some jeans. She put his pj bottoms in a basket with his dirty clothes and left his blue t-shirt on him. “There you go”, Rose said, Rose and Liam played dragons and people for awhile. “Let’s make some Christmas cookies”, Rose said to him, She then took him the kitchen and put him in his high chair they still used that way he could reach everything. Rose did the dough and set the oven. She cut the cookies out and popped them in. Liam played with the jars of sprinkles and tubes of icing. Rose had the wireless on and they listed to Christmas music. It was getting late almost 4pm. She waved her wand and shut the master door. She had not finished his gifts still. The oven rang and Rose took them out. “Look Father Christmas and Trees”, Rose said sitting a few down in front of him. She helped him decorate them. “Yum yum”, Liam kept saying. “They are for Christmas”, Rose said. She was packing them away in containers while they rested. They made cookies for the next hour.
“Something smells so good”, Scorpius said coming into the kitchen. He was still wearing his thick cloak. “How was work?”, Rose asked looking up from over her son. They were decorating with the red icing on a Father Christmas. “Good”, He said back. “Wow look at all these cookies”, Scorpius said. They were sitting all over the counters. “We went a little over board”, Rose said looking around. Liam had icing all over his arms and hands. “Liam you did such a good job”, Rose said. Some were well decorated by Rose and others were messy by Liam. She had picked the nice ones for his dad and the others for her large family. She packed them all up. “Oh my child, you’re a mess”, Scorpius said. He took him upstairs. She could hear them in the bathroom. They came back. “Dad dragon, dragon”, Liam said. Scorpius let him down and he ran around now. He picked up a dragon book off the coffee table near them. “We will read later, we need dinner, are you not hungry?”, Scorpius said grabbing him and playing with him. “Dad, dad”, Liam said laughing. “I thought we could go out?”, Rose said. “Romeo’s”, Scorpius said. “Yeah reservations already made”, Rose said. They always enjoyed a good pizza and pasta. “Let’s get your jacket on”, Scorpius said carrying Liam almost upside down. The kid just laughed at him. Scorpius had a sweater and slacks on so he put his puffer jacket on also. Rose put her coat on and they left for dinner two streets away. Scorpius carried Liam instead of using the pram. “Pzza”, Liam said as the approach the restaurant. “Yeah mate”, Scorpius said. They sat in the cozy corner near the back with a high chair.
