Chapter one
TheGrangers looked at the neurologist with horror, they had not heard him correctly! There was no way he said what they thought they had heard! No way, there was no way there their precious daughter was suffering from the disease the neurologist had diagnosed
“You must be wrong Doctor Grail, absolutely wrong, there is no way our only daughter is suffering from the late stages of Alzheimer's! She is just fourteen years of age…….just fourteen years of age!” Hermoine Granger's father commented
The imminent neurologist sighs and tries to explain to the teenage girls parents a very sad magical fact of life “Dr’s Grangers! Normally you are correct that no person suffers from late stage Alzheimer's at Hermoine’s age, but to be frank this is the price she has to pay for her folly in school last year” The neurologist held up his hand to stop the parents from saying anything till he had finish his explanation to them “Hermoine used what magical people call a time turner, to complete all the classes available at Hogwarts school. Apparently according to a Professor Snape she was allowed to continue to use the device even when he in horror tried to stop the faculty from allowing Hermoine to use it. I am a wizard myself, but have decided to pursue a career in the muggle world. The use of time turners exacts a very heavy price on the user of them! It has been guessed that an hour's use of a time turner equates to roughly a day of time from the user's life span. Most magicals, and I am not one of them, believe that to lose a few weeks of your life for using the instrument is worth the cost. They believe that as they normally have a long life span, then a few weeks lost is neither here nor there.
But Hermione used the time turner for the whole of her schooling last year which equates to roughly at least seven months of continuous use of the damned thing. So Hermione is now, to put it bluntly, at the end of her normal life span and so the scourge of Alzheimer's has arisen! She may have a few days or weeks or perhaps two more years to live. What wixens forget is that the use of instruments that control the powers of the God’s come with a very heavy price to pay! To be frank I am shocked that the effects of the time turner on Hermione hasn't been quicker in becoming manifest. I would at least try to sue the ministry of magic for allowing a minor the use of what should have been a highly regulated item and definitely not for the use of teenage wixen in the pursuit of taking all the available classes at Hogwarts. I will of course write a report for you and ask my friend Professor Snape if he will collaborate about Hermione being allowed to use the time turner this academic year! Also I know a very good lawyer who I am sure will gladly ensure that the ministry of magic is made to pay heavily for in essence the manslaughter of your daughter. Now I propose that you inform everybody that Hermione diagnosis is a malignant brain tumor for Hermione's and yours sake!”
Hermione Granger’s parents looked around the plain functional ward manager's office that currently housed their daughter. The office was small and had of course mismatched furniture, an office chair and two normal chairs. There were a couple of filing cabinets in one corner of the office. And a notice board with witty posters and a shelf that folders and files that held such innocuous things like ward staff rota’s and hospital policies for the ward and nursing staff to use. How did the Grangers ask themselves, their lives and futures become so terrible. How could their bright daughter be now suffering from a disease that affected mostly old people, how could that bloody school Hogwarts even have a bloody time turner thing. Let alone allow a teenage child to use it for most of the year whilst at school. Oh they were going to go after the ministry of magic alright. Even if they sherked their responsibility towards Hermoine, they would try to ensure that no other child was allowed to have the use of such dangerous items.

On the first of July a letter landed on the minister of magic’s desk, Minister Fudge looked at the letter from what seemed a well known law firm. When he had read the letter, all hell as muggles would say was let loose

Dear Minister Fudge
Sangi and Radi solicitors are acting on behalf of the parents of one Miss Hermoine Granger who attended Hogwarts magical school of wizarding and witchcraft.
There have been a number of issues raised by the parents that they want to address, that they were never informed off by either the Headmaster of the School or even her Head of House these concerned the apparent little tests and incidents according to the Hogwarts Headmaster Albus Dumbledore, that their daughter Hermoine and her friends have been made to do.
In her first year Hermoine during the Halloween feast she was shut in an abandoned girls bathroom with a troll! It was only the desperate actions of her two friends also first years that allowed her to escape relatively unharmed physically
At the end of her first year, she and two other friends, Ronald Weasley and Neville Longbottom, took on an assault course beneath the school to look for a Jewel called the philosopher's stone. There by apparently saving the stone from the clutches of another teacher. She also set on fire a Professor’s Snape's robes on the first quidditch match of the season
Second year Miss Hermoine was petrified by a balasik for three months, missing out on quite a lot of her schooling for that year! There are also numerous times that her and her peers nearly came to harm in numerous DADA classes that year.
Third year, Hermoine and her peers were taught by a werewolf who on one occasion at least forgot to take a potion brewed by the resident Potions professor and master to stop him from becoming an uncontrollable beast during the full moon.
Hermoine and her school peers have had to attend Hogwarts with the presence of dementors surrounding the school, and accounted at least one dementor on the Hogwarts Express taking her to Hogwarts at the beginning of the school year. Hermoine dormitory was also targeted and ransacked by the convicted escaped death eater criminal Sirius Black.
These are just a few of the incidents that have plagued the Hogwarts School, but the chief complaint is that Hermoine was knowingly allowed by the School faculty the continuous use of a time turner for the whole of the academic year. This was to ensure that the child could attend all the classes that Hogwarts offered. The only two exceptions to this was for Professors Flitwick and Snape who have strongly tried to stop the use of the time turner. There appears to have been some way for their letters to the ministry of magic and Hermoine parents to disappear. Both Professors were repeatedly told that the ministry of magic and yourself in particular not only knew about this matter but condoned it as well!
As you are aware the use of a time turner even for very short periods of time will diminish the users lifespan. But because Hermoine has used this time turner continuously for at least seven months, she is now suffering from end stage Alzheimer's (a form of dementia that normally affects elderly people), and is not expected to live longer than a few months to perhaps a year. Hermoine doesn't know who she is, or who her parents are. This is for Hermoine parents as you can understand the worst symptom of the illness for them.
We have in our procession copies of the letters and reports that the Professors Flitwick and Snape sent to you and Hermoine parents. We have also obtained the reports of the Hogwarts matron Madame Pompfrey, that stated the signs and symptoms that Hermoine had started to show of Alzheimer's disease that were raised to her by the Professors Flitwick and Snape, were just Hermoine trying to draw attention to herself.
As you can see from the copy of the report from Hermoine neurologist Dr Grail, if the first signs and symptoms had been taken seriously, then the progress of Hermoine Granger disease may have been halted!
The ministry of magic had to know and allow Miss Hemoine Granger exposure to this time turner. As per the ICW convention of 1649 passed the international law that all time turners have to be accounted for and held in the individual countries ministry of magic. All documentation to allow the use of time turners not only has to be authorized by the country's minister of magic, but the reasons for allowing the use of these artifacts have to be clearly documented as well! And for how long the artifact is allowed to be used by the person named.
Oh we also need to draw your attention to the fact that classes such as DADA and Care of Magical Creatures are being taught with the full knowledge and support of the headmaster and deputy headmistress by enthusiastic amateurs, with no qualifications to allow them to teach the subjects.
The Grangers are also deeply concerned that the Headmaster of Hogwarts apparently had numerous meetings alone with Hermoine in his office. This we and the Grangers feel, must be against the School’s rules and protocol
Can you please contact my secretary, with a date for a meeting within the next month to discuss the financial compensation to the Grangers for care of their child, and also how in future the ministry of magic will ensure that the points in this letter are addressed.
We will bring these issues before the British Wizengamot if we do not hear from you, the answers raised in this letter. If we cannot get satisfaction from the British Wizengamot, then we will pursue these matters in front of the IWC.

To say that the above letter nearly caused minster Fudge a fatal heart attack was a moot point (and caused a lot of giggles and laughter throughout the ministry of magic).
It was when Amelia Bones and her deputies in the DMLE, and the department of unspeakables left his office as white faced as his under secretary Dolores Umbridge (who he saw as his daughter-in-law), that everybody understood that something terrible had just occurred. It was with a heavy heart that Minister Fudge floo called the leaders of the Dark and Grey fraction in the Wizengamot, and the now the official leader of the white section as well (Fudge knew, that Dumbledore was heading for the biggest fall from political height that anybody could in the magical world). Afterwards ministry employees commented in hush tones that they never thought that Lord Malfoy could look paler than he normally did after his meeting with minister Fudge and the other Wizengamot fraction leaders.
