The Alley

Diagon Alley was particularly busy by the time they got out of the bank, there were children running around, merchants calling to crouds about their wears and a whole throng of teenagers milling around.

It was quite a shock to Evaar’la who hadn't really been to excessively busy places much in this life but it was just as amazing as the first time he saw it, especially now that it wasn't tainted with the war. “What do we need first?” Cody asked looking around the Alley.

Robes first, I think” Evaar’la replied already setting off towards Madam Malkins. “I only really need some cloaks, and maybe some colour changing thread and fabric to adjust a belt and tabards with so that they will show my house. To be honest, everything else I'm extremely unlikely to use, I'll wear my tunics under my armour and I have more than enough fabric for more flight suits so I can make a few more…” Evaar’la trailed off into muttering that was no longer picked up by his voccorder.

Once they reached the shop Evaar’la tool point and opened the door, thankfully due to the different timeline, he didn't have to deal with a baby Malfoy.

“Welcome. What can I get for you today?” Madame Malkin said, greeting the mandalorians into her empty shop.

“I'm going to Hogwarts this September but due to religious reasons I'll be wearing my armour so I just need a few things so I can alter some sets. As well as two cloaks, please.” Evaar'la decided to get straight to the point and order exactly what he needed.

“Sure, what sort of materials are you looking for? I've got some cloaks I can size up for you here so hop up and I'll sort them while you tell me what you need.” At that Evaar’la undid the clasp on his cloak, handing it to his buir, before hopping up onto the stool. Madame Malkin then swung a school cloak around his shoulders and got to pinning it so it was the correct length.

“I was looking for some of the colour changing thread and fabric that you use for first year uniforms, I want to adust a belt, flightsuit and tabards so my house is obvious.”

“Oh, that's easy,” the Madame said, “I've always got loads of that fabric and thread at this time of year, you don't need anything special to use it either, just some hard work. I'll include it with the cloaks, about 4 yards sound enough? Maybe 7 spools of thread? If you're going to do tabards then I imagine you're embroidering them?”

“That was my plan” he responds.

“Great, that's you all done, if you pop over here I'll get that all rung up for you.” The cloak floated off his shoulders before it was joined at the till by another cloak and the fabric and thread he wanted. “That will be 2 galleons, please.” she said. Evaar'la dug around in his belt pouch for a moment before pulling out some of the money he had gotten from the bank, he then offered it to Madame Malkin before taking his bag of shopping. “Thank you for your business, let me know if you need anything, I'm open to doing some different orders” she called as they left the shop.

Books?” Tarre asked, Evaar'la nodded before heading over to Flourish and Blotts. While inside the family split up, all going for different books. Evaar'la got most of his course books as well as several others on other interesting topics like runes and warding. He also got some of the muggleborn primers for entering the magical world like etiquette, the Ministry, the Wizangamot, potions basics, magical theory and many more, all things he missed out on buying last time as Hagrid rushed them through the Alley. Eventually they all met up at the till with massive stacks of books before the cashier tolled it all up and packaged it before shrinking all their purchases down “tap it with a wand and they'll go back to normal size” she said handing them their books.

Their next stop was Obscurus Books, in there they got some darker titles and Evaar’la found a few parselscript books as well as some Mando’a that was masquerading as Gobbledigook. The parselscript books looked to be on the uses of snake parts in potions, two on healing, and another on parselrunes and parselmagic and their uses in warding and enchantments. All in all it was a good haul at both stores although it had set him back almost fifty galleons.

Their next stop was Scibbulus Writing Instruments where Evaar’la bought several notebooks for in class, lots of parchment for essays and several quills, the equipment for sharpening them, ink in a few different colours and also a couple of fountain pens that were enchantment to auto-refill.

They then headed over to Carkitt Market to go to Stowe and Packers Magical Bags ro get an enchanted rucksack to put all his things in. They decided against a trunk and typically, Mandalorians were nomadic people so they needed to be able to pack their entire life into a bag or a ship. They ended up purchasing three extended bags, each with an extensive library section that would display the titles of books in a catalogue, allowing you to select which you desired. Each also had room for potions ingredients, runic carving and embroidering equipment and clothes as well as other miscellaneous items. Each bag ended up costing them a hundred galleons but it was well worth it. Cody and Tarre even said that they might go backpacking this year with them while Evaar’la was at school.

After going around Carkitt Market for a little while longer, stopping at a runes shop for an engraving and embroidering kit as well as an apothecary that was thankfully a little quieter than the one on the main Diagon Alley.

They also found things like his telescope and potions equipment at a sore selling miscellaneous items. Their final two stops would then require them to go back to the main Alley for his wand and to hopefully find Hedwig in the Magical Menagerie.

They stopped at the Menagerie first and Evaar’la made a beeline for Hedwig, reading up to where she was perched to stroke her pristine feathers. As soon as he made contact she shivered before giving Evaar’la an affectionate nip to his glove.

“I'll take her please” he called out to the shopkeeper as Hedwig jumped down to land on his thankfully armoured shoulder. Paying they left the Menagerie with a travel cage, perch and several owl treats.

Their final stop was Oliverander’s.

Cautiously Evaar'la pushed open the door to the wandmakers, thanking the ka’ra that it was empty. “I was wondering when I would see you, Mr Potter.” Mr Oliverander stated looking at the mandalorians from behind his counter “although, I suppose it should be Mr Vizsla now?” He questioned.

“Hello.” Evaar’la replied walking further into the shop.

“Now then, which is your wand arm?” He asked, letting the measuring tape fly from around his shoulders and begin to take his measurements.

“I'm ambidextrous, sir” he replied, holding out both arms so the tape could continue to measure. After a moment more the tape flew back to the wandmaker's shoulders and settled back down again.

“Alright then, try…. This! Ebony and dragon heartstring.” He handed the wand over, Evaar’la had barely even touched it before he was snatching it back. “Willow and unicorn hair?” That was snatched back as well, they eventually went through hundreds of wands with all the usual pairings, even his old holly and phoenix feather wand. Eventually Olliverander brought a different and very dusty box off the shelf.

“This is one of my more complicated creations, dual wood of Maple and Hazel, for the adventurous and empathetic, matched with a dual core of unicorn tail hair and phoenix feather. This is a very balanced wand representing both purity and rebirth. It is exceedingly loyal to its master and capable of incredible magic. I honestly never thought I would see the day when this wand would be sold. Here, give it a try.” He handed the wand handle first to Evaar’la, as soon as his hand grasped the wand the Force sang, pushing the surety of the situation into the surrounding area.

Evaar’la felt like he was floating, he could hear the wind in his ears, despite his helmet and there was a golden glow emanating from the wand. The wand itself was pushing a very smug feeling into the Force, minefamilypartners, it seemed to whisper.

“You will do wonderful things with that wand Mr Vizsla, I do hope that you take excellent care of it, the shop a few doors down sells polishing materials and holsters if you wish to purchase them.” The Vizslas then quietly made their way out of the shop and back to The Leaky Cauldron where they activated their notice-me-not amulets and Evaar’la held his wand up to summon the Knight Bus.

The purple bus arrived with an enormous bag that startled Cody before the door opened and Stan, the conductor lent out the door. “Where too?” He said.

“Great Forest of Dean please” Tarre replied as they all got on the bus

“Seven sickles please” came the response so Tarre pulled the seven silver pieces out of a pouch on his belt before they all made for a seat in the middle of the bus.

You should probably hold on, this is going to get really bumpy” he muttered, just loud enough for his Guardians to hear.

Before they knew it they were back hiking through the forest for the final mile and a half until they got to their cottage
