The School
It had been several years since that fateful day when Evaar’la’s first family was torn apart but also from when he also gained a new one, in the form of his Buir Cody and his Master Tarre.
Evaar’la had taken great delight in learning about the Force from Master Tarre as well as learning how to fight from his Buir. He in turn taught them about magic, eventually turning Buir’s plastoid armour into pure beskar in a particularly difficult feat of transfiguration. Evaar’la had managed to get Buir to let him use the elder wand that had been left by his mother’s body to show both Buir and Master his magic. He also took great delight in telling them exactly what the artefact that had been masquerading as a blanket actually was. Master had told him that although he should use the cloak responsibly he was allowed to have fun with it so long as nobody got hurt.
The time in which he got to grow up again was precious to Evaar’la as he got to be a new person, one less tainted by his past, one who would fight not just for a better future but for a better future he believed in, with Buir and Master Tarre.
This was shattered when the first letter came. They all knew what it was, Evaar’la had explained what Hogwarts was and that while he wanted to go, he now had a new home. After the first letter they began to religiously wear their helmets even around their home.
Cody’s white and orange painted helmet now with the traditional Mandalorian visor was firmly sealed on his head while Evaar’la’s white, black and red helmet on his own. Evaar’la had also gotten used to wearing the flight-suit, tunic, vambraces combination that was typical for most mando’ade whilst out of armour, Tarre had even been able to change into tunic although his holographic visage was also wearing their helmet, covering their normally long hair.
There were thousands of letters all addressed to:
Mr H J Potter
Evaar’la Yamika
Evaar’yaim
The Great Forest of Dean
They had long since begun using the letters as kinderling for their fires. There were just so many, it annoyed Evaar’la that they couldn’t just treat him like any other muggleborn child but there was nothing he could do but wait for someone to come.
It had surprised Evaar’la though, that his room was named with his true name even if the letter dead-named him. He was contemplating this as he fed the chickens when he was notified of someone breaking the wards around Evaar’yaim or New Home. Activating his commlink Evaar’la turned back towards the house to meet the person “ Buir? ” He asked down the comm.
“ Ev’ika? You alright? ” The worried tone came through his helmet speakers.
“ I’m alright Buir, but someone just breached the wards around the house.”
“ Come back to the house, we’ll meet them there.” Buir knew who this was, Evaar’la knew he did, they had all been waiting for Dumbledore to get his head out of his shebs and send someone along, although Evaar’la was disappointed that it had taken until the 29th July to send someone, even if it was earlier than before. “ I’m on my way” Evaar’la cut the comm and began to make his way back to the house checking his helmet seals on the way, it was his business what he showed whoever it was that was here, and they could suck it up if they didn’t like it.
Evaar’la made it back to the house before the envoy from the school, greeting both Cody and Tarre with a light Keldabe Kiss before coming to stand in between them. It wasn’t long until they saw the great hulking form of the Hogwarts Keeper of Keys, Hagrid.
“Hullo, here ta deliver a letter to one ‘Arry Potter” he said, Evaar’la had missed Hagrid but he also knew that they had to play this right.
“I’m afraid there is no one with the name of Harry Potter living here” Cody said, his offworld accent sounding seemingly australian.
“Tha’ can’t be true, s’not how the letters work.” Hagrid insisted trying to hand over the letter to Cody.
“I wouldn’t know then.” Cody states “Although it would be nice to know who had just turned up at my home.” Cody’s helmet gave nothing away.
“I’m Rubeus Hagrid, Keeper of the Keys at ‘Ogwarts” he said, “Dumbledore asked me to deliver young ‘Arry ‘is letter since ‘e wasn’t gettin’ it.”
“You would be mistaken there” Tarre said, interceding for the first time into the conversation, Hagrid likely didn’t know he was talking to a ghost as Tarre was wearing an illusion that allowed them to present as alive, their blue and black helmet glinting in the sun. “We have all received the letters and read them as despite them not being addressed to one of our own they were addressed to the room of my child.” Tarre seemed almost threatening with his statement as he layed his hand on Evaar’la’s shoulder. They were accusing Hogwarts of spying on them, despite the fact that they knew exactly how the letter would be addressed he still disliked that some being knew exactly where their padawan slept.
“What’s the kiddo’s name?” Hagrid asked, attempting to work out if a Harry Potter existed here.
“I am Tarre Vizsla, this is my vod’ika Cody Vizsla and Cody’s ad Evaar’la Vizsla” Tarre introduced them all as planned using subtle Mando’a to ensure that Hagrid wasn’t entirely sure what was going on as he was also unable to determine whether Evaar’la was Harry as he was currently wearing his helmet.
“Sorry, ta be a bother, but I need ta know if the kiddo is ‘Arry or not, could ‘e take ‘is ‘elmet off?” Hagrid didn’t know that he had just committed a major Mandalorian faux pas, that was asking a mando’ade to remove their helmet, we as such were now well within our rights to ask for someone else.
“I’m sorry, but we have to ask you to leave.” Cody said, “If someone else from the school wishes to come we would much prefer to confer with them.” With that said Cody turned around and guided Tarre and Evaar’la back inside the house, leaving Hagrid outside wondering exactly what he had done to offend them.
It was several days before Hogwarts tried to send anyone again, just after Evaar’la’s birthday. On the 1st of August a well dressed witch made her way towards the house and the reasonable time of 10 AM. Just before McGonagall got to the door Evaar’la took great delight in yanking it open just as the witch raised her hand to knock. “Good gracious” she exclaimed, taking a surprised step backwards.
“ Evaar’la! What have I said about doing that!” Tarre came to the door before clipping Evaar’la upside the head. “Sorry Ma’am but Evaar’la takes great pleasure in surprising all who come to our door.”
“It’s quite alright, I just wasn’t expecting it” she said “I'm Minerva McGonagall, the deputy headmistress at Hogwarts”
“Pleasure to meet you, I am Tarre Vizsla, this is my padawan Evaar’la.” Tarre then stepped back from the door, wordlessly inviting the witch in.
Tarre continued towards the living room where they sat on one of the sofas next to Evaar’la. Cody came through a moment later with tea on a tray.
Evaar’la took one of the Mugs of tea and the metal straw also lying on the tray to drink his tea through his helmet.
“I'm Cody Vizsla, Evaar’la's parent” Cody stated, also sitting down on the sofa on the other side of Evaar’la.
“We would like to invite Evaar’la to our school and we will need to register them under their new name” McGonagall began “as such, we need Evaar’la so complete an inheritance test at Gringotts. I have with me a portkey to take us to Hogwarts where we can carry out this test.”
“ Will that work, Ev’ika?” Cody asked, switching to Mando’a.
“ I mean… it should. I could also talk to the Goblin there and request a formal name change and look into my Magical Guardian…” Evaar’la tilted their helmet to one side.
“ Magical Guardian?” Co’Buir asked, imitating Evaar’la in their curiosity.
“ It was the old coot last time” they stated, deliberately not using Dumbledore’s name “ this could be out opportunity to get that transferred to Master Tarre”
“That sounds fine, so long as we are accompanying Ev’ika,” inclining their helmet in agreement.
“Excellent, do you have any preparations to make before we go?” McGonagall didn't seem put out by the foreign language, taking it in stride.
“If you wait here for a moment we will prepare,” Cody said.
At that Evaar’la jumped up, heading towards the stairs and up to his room. Once there he slid off his helmet before carefully taking his breastplate and accompanying kute off his armour stand. His breastplate, like his helmet, was white with a black strip around the neckline. He next grabbed his black tabards and invisibility cloak, securing the tabards under his belt before pulling the cloak around his shoulders. He then began performing a standard weapons check, lightsaber, blaster, wand, staff, cloak, commlink. Once he was satisfied he checked his hair in the mirror, still in its normal braided updo with his padawan brain separately pinned up before putting his helmet back on.
When he got back downstairs both Tarre and Cody were already there, both in full armour. Cody’s armour hadn't changed much from the clone armour he used to wear but Tarre's was a mix of Mandalorian and Jedi styles. He had the same long flowing sleeves as Evaar’la that covered their vambraces and dark blue tabards under their belt. Both were now wearing light travel cloaks over their armour.
“ Ready Ev'ika?” Cody asked
“ Yes buir ”
“Shall we go then?” McGonagall asked, holding out a short length of rope. “This is the portkey, all you have to do is hold on to it while I say the activation phrase and don't let go until I say so.” With that they all grabbed hold of the rope McGonagall checked that everyone had a secure hold before stating the activation phrase. “Jelly Beans”
Rather unceremoniously they were dumped in a heap on the other end, having to quickly stand up before they could brush some of the dust off their flight suits.
“Ahh, welcome to Hogwarts.” The voice of Albus Dumbledore came from behind his desk. “I am Hogwarts’ Headmaster, Albus Dumbledore, please, take a seat” he gestured to the space in front of the desk where three wooden chairs appeared. The three Mandalorians quickly sat down before introducing themselves.
“Nice to meet you, I am Jedi Master Tarre Vizsla, this is my vod’ika, Commander Cody Vizsla and his ad Jedi Padawan Evaar’la Vizsla.”
“Jedi?” Dumbledore asked, a concerning glint in his eye.
“Force sensitives, we learn to tap into the Force, somewhat similar to what we believe your magic might be” Tarre explained “I am a Master, meaning I have mastered at least one aspect of the Force, Evaar’la here is my padawan, my student.”
“Does being a Jedi have anything to do with your helmets?” McGonagall asked, they all turned to her, including her in the conversation.
“No, we wear our helmets because we are Mandalorians and have sworn to uphold The Resol'nare as True Mando’ade .” Cody explained “I myself am not a Jedi but I have worked with other members of their order in the past.”
“The resol’nare?” Dumbledore questioned.
“It's the six tenets of being a Mandalorian” Evaar’la said “its kinda like the rules of our religion”
“Right,” Dumbledore said but before he could launch into the next question the fireplace lit up in green flames and a goblin stepped out of the floo. “Welcome Master Goblin '' Dumbledore stood up to receive the goblin, quickly drawing up another chair.
“Mr Dumbledore," they nodded "I am Griphook, I am told I am to perform an inheritance test” the goblin said, sitting down in the available chair. “Who am I testing?” they asked as they began to unpack their equipment.
“Me, I think,” Evaar'la said, standing up from his chair so that he could stand beside the goblin.
“Right then, I'll need seven drops of blood on this parchment,” Griphook said as he offered Evaar’la the dagger. Carefully Evaar'la removed their glove, placing it on the desk before grasping the knife in their gloved hand. He brought the knife up to his index finger before pricking the pad, counting the seven drops out he then used the force to heal the cut to prevent him from spilling any more blood.

Evaar'la presented the page to his Master, he could feel them frowning in the force, “ Mr Dumbledore why are you listed as my padawan’s Magical Guardian when you have never met them?”
“I took up the role as his guardian when his parents died,” Dumbledore said, an obnoxious twinkle in his eye.
“You have not answered my question, why did you never look for Evaar'la? From what I'm sensing it seems he was missing in your world.” Tarre stated, keeping to his appeasing political tone “I do not want you as my padawan’s Magical guardian, you never made an effort to find them when they were apparently missing.” The Force sung at that statement.
“I can change that for you” Griphook said, taking a stylus and scoring out Dumbledore’s name. “I assume you wish for your name in there…?”
“I am Jedi Master Tarre Vizsla”
“ Buir we need to ask for my key” Evaar'la said, turning to Cody
“ You speak Mando’a?” the goblin said, whipping around to face Evaar'la.
“ I'm a Mando’ade, of course I speak it” Evaar'la huffed, he wasn't quite sure where this was going.
“ You are from the Stars, yes?” Griphook pressed on.
“ I hail from Manda’yaim” Tarre said “ Cody was created on Kamino and born into Clan Fett but his buir turned dar’buir and abandoned his ade before dying. I adopted him into my Clan with his ad, Ev’ika”
“ Then I must reintroduce myself, I am Griphook, Clan Hook, on behalf of us Dwar’mando’ade it's a pleasure to meet you Tra'mando’ade” Griphook held out his arm, under his robes you could see a vambrace, Tarre grasped his forearm in the traditional greeting “ I will contact my Mand’alor to arrange a meeting”
“ We look forward to it” Cody said, Evaar'la felt an almost feral feeling in the force as his Buir said that, as though Cody had the biggest osik -eating grin on his face.
