Arrival
Percy and Annabeth had arrived at Camp Jupiter, hand-in-hand, about an hour ago, they met up with Frank to grab the car keys for the vehicle they would be borrowing,
But they had also stopped by just to chat before they sent Frank off to tell Reyna about the news, they would’ve went with him if it wasn’t for Blackjack nudging Percy with his muzzle.
Blackjack generously offered them a ride to Camp Jupiter (even with additional weight of their bags and luggage) in exchange for a box of donuts, and of course. They couldn’t say no to him, or a free ride.
So with the reminder of their deal, they rushed off to the local café to buy Blackjack his donuts and some lunch.
Percy had ordered and paid first, stepping outside for a moment with the box of donuts in hand.
Annabeth ordered afterwords, but as she stepped away from the cashier to make room for the rest of the line forming behind her,
Her attention drifted to the window, where Percy was clear in view as he presented Blackjack with an open box of donuts, who promptly inhaled the donuts before giving Percy a short nuzzle and ended up flying off, before Percy could even get a single word out.
Annabeth stifled a laugh, as loyal as Blackjack was to Percy, he was still a free-spirited pegasus, wandering wherever he wants too.
Percy walked inside the shop with a small pout, dragging himself over and slumping beside Annabeth as they waited for their order.
“Percy, we would’ve had to send him off anyways, it’s not a short trip and we already have a car arranged.” Annabeth hummed giving him a small shoulder bump before resting her head on his shoulder.
In reality, Blackjack probably could’ve handled the trip, but Annabeth had enough of—clinging onto her luggage for dear life as Blackjack soared through the air— for one day. Plus, they couldn’t put Frank through the trouble of trying to get that car for them and not use it.
“He’s not going anywhere.”
“He isn’t?”
“Nope, he ran off to go find Guido, I barely got a proper goodbye.” Percy huffed, but he wasn’t fooling her, Annabeth could see his lip twitch up, he fighting back a smile.
He glanced at her for a moment only for his annoyed expression to crumble and which got a laugh out of both of them.
Their order was called up, and Percy snagged the paper bag with their lunch while Annabeth grabbed the paper tray with their drinks in it.
After getting a bit lost, they found a nice grassy and shaded spot under a tree where they had a clear view of the principa, and all they had to do was wait for Frank to come out and give them the go-ahead.
Annabeth gently popped off the lid on her cup, blowing the steam away before taking a sip of her hot chocolate. While Percy took a big chomp out of his sandwich.
He had finished about half of it when he offered her a bite, hovering the sandwich close to her lips, Annabeth narrowed her eyes at the layered stack as if it personally offended her.
“It's good, I promise.” Percy laughed,
Percy had once offered her a bite of his soggy pizza while she was distracted, a joke that quickly backfired on him when Annabeth spat it out and it ended up landing on him, more specifically his favorite shirt but ever since then, its become a small inside joke between them.
Annabeth hummed unconvinced, but took a bite anyways, it was tasty, then again the food at Camp Jupiter was always tasty.
“You're right, it is good.” Annabeth smiled pressing a quick peck at his cheek, Percy brightened up at that.
They ate in silence for a bit, it was comfortable, peaceful even. Its not everyday they get to have moments like these.
5 minutes had passed, and as much as they enjoyed the view, they had plans in mind and were just itching to start them, Annabeth especially, she had a small notepad in the right pocket of her jeans, and it had a list of possible things the three of them could do together.
“I hope Frank doesn’t take too long; Reyna’s lunch will get cold.” Percy muttered just as he leaned his head over and stole a quick sip from Annabeth's cup
“If you wanted hot chocolate, I could’ve gotten it for you.”
“Im good with my smoothie, I just wanted a sip if yours.” Percy smiled leaning over to press a kiss on her forehead.
But anyhow, the decided on buying Reyna some lunch, mainly as a treat,
But also because, Reyna had been supposedly skipping on meals to spend more time working and they couldn’t have their dear praetor overworking herself to an early grave. (it also made as a good peace offering if Reyna didn’t take the news of her planned vacation very well.).
Fortunately for them, they didn’t have to wait around much as they saw Frank come out of the principa, held out a thumbs up for them before quickly rushing off.
Percy grinned and scarfed down whatever sandwich he had left, leaving him only with a wrinkled wrapped that he pocketed, he would toss it out later
They quickly got up, scooped up their lunches, luggage’s and bags. Frank rushing off didn’t seem too promising, but that was their cue.
