Chapter 5
-1997-
~(Yuri)~
It was the first day of high school and like usual I was crazy nervous. While I would be staying with all the people, I went to middle school with that’s not a good thing because I have no friends, and I am still hopelessly in love with Charley because in these past three year I haven’t been able to shake my draw to him.
My first period of math which sucks because who likes math. And oh of course my first class was with Charley, we didn’t sit near each other thank God, but it wouldn’t really matter anyway because it wouldn’t mean anything to him. The class finished and I went to my other classes with ease. It seemed like I only had him in one class which was good. At lunch I did what I have learned to do these past years and eat in the library.
My last class of the day was ceramics which seemed like a fine choice and something calming to do.
“Hello class to get to know each other and start making friends I would like you all to pair up and talk for this class and for the rest of the week you will work on a beginning project so I can just a look at your skill levels”
I didn’t have anyone to pair up with, so I just sat there and to my surprise someone came up to me.
“Hey, I’m dawn and I don’t have anyone to hang out with so do you want to be my partner”
And didn’t have anything to lose really so
“sure let’s go to wheel three”
We walked over and the first thing I noticed was the pep in her step
“We actually have math together and I saw you first period and you looked like you needed a friend, and you seem nice so I’m really happy that we have this class together, we could be new besties”
I was very overwhelmed by her but at the same time this was a opportunity I couldn’t pass up and she seemed nice and a person that can talk to me and I don’t have to talk as much.
“Ok we can be friends”
“Really”
“Yeah, why not” I have officially started my journey have finally having friends.
“So where should we start”
“I don’t know, how about you day because it’s over in like 30 minutes”
“Oh, mine was good all my classes were easy because it was just introductions and stuff like that”
“Oh, and who was the kid from math you were staring at” what I wouldn’t say I saw staring so definitely an over exaggeration.
“What?”
“Yeah, the kid two rows in front of you. You were either looking at him or your head was on the desk”
“It’s nothing just a kid I went to middle school with”
“What do you hate him or something”
“No”
“Then why were you staring him down”
“Let just get to the pottery project because this a pointless”
“I don’t think it is”
“Well, I do, and I know I wouldn’t tell you why I was staring at Charley”
“Will you tell me if I give you the answers to the math homework for 2 weeks”
“That’s nothing”
“One month”
“Fine but you're going to have to come to my house so are you fine with that”
“Yes, oh my god yes I get to go to your house!”
“Yeah, but promise not to tell anyone one what we talk about okay”
“Okay I don’t have anyone to talk to anyway to this is perfect”
“Sorry but I just love gossip, but I don’t have any friends to spread the gossip I just like hearing it so secrets safe with me”
The rest of the class went well but I can’t believe that I agreed to have a random girl I just met over and also to tell this random girl why I can’t stop staring at Charley.
-one week later-
Dawn was going to come over to my house today and I saw a nervous reck because while my parents gave me permission to have her over I think they think that this is something else and now’s it’s kind of awkward because they think I’m having over a girl I like but I’m actually having over a girl to tell her about the guy I like. The other thing is that my house is sort of embarrassing because it looks straight out of a grandma's house, never renovated since the 20’s, covered in plastic and it was the ugliest color pallet to exist.
Dawn arrived and quickly said hi to my parents and then we went up stares. I obviously had to keep the door open but that was fine we just had to keep our voice down.
“So, what is the deal with the guy you were staring at in math”
“Well first I have a question to ask you”
“Sure, go ahead”
“What are your thoughts on gay people”
“Oh my god, you like him” she said hushing the last bit
“It’s not a big deal so can we just not talk about it”
“No this is a big thing you already have a crush, and we have been in school for a week”
“Well maybe not a week”
“What, this had been going on for longer”
“Maybe since 6th grade”
“6th grade!” She sorts of shouted it, so I had to urge her to quiet down
“Okay let’s get onto our math homework”
“Fine” she said it in a frustrated tone but still got her homework out of her bag
We complete our homework, and it went smooth, and she later had to go home which honestly felt sad because I truly think I have met a good friend because when I told her about Charley it felt like a weight was lifted off my shoulders and she didn’t get weirded out or anything she just treated it like any other crush.
