Mary pov
(August,6,1986 it’s their anniversary)
“Honey come on we need to drop Harry off with James and Reggie are you ready baby” lily shouts I just sigh and whisper.
“I’d rather take my whiskey neat my coffee black in our bed at three your too sweet for me” I then remember I never responded so I say “yes my lily pad” I start to descend downstairs and see my future if she agrees fiancé, I plan to propose this evening at dinner.
(After dropping Harry off and getting to the restaurant)
“Lily” I say cutting her off mid sentence “yes my darling” she says smiling sweetly
I start to say
“I’d rather take my whiskey neat my coffee black in our bed at three your too sweet for me” I then get on one knee holding the ring will you do me the honor of becoming my fiancé soon wife.
“Love yes a thousand times” she says excited then she looks confused “Mary darling why did you say all that before what did you mean I’m too sweet for you”.? She asked me while I put her engagement ring on her finger .
“Am I disposable my lily pad” i say softly “ no Mary darling your not is this about James, I mean I felt something off with you earlier but I can assure you that you have no competition, yes James and I dated but he’s not who I want anymore it’s you Mary, yes he and I have a past and because of Harry a future but all we have is a mutual love and respect for each other enough to be comfortable with each others partners. We love each other like how you love Reggie as friends that’s all I promise” she says slowly but firmly while holding my hands.
“But your as bright as the morning and so is James” I say sadly “ my darling Mary all we are is co-parents that’s it I promise nothing more because although I loved him I’m in love with you do you understand my love” she says softly smiling a little . And as your fiancé believe me when I say you’re all I need. She adds before kissing my lips.
“Ok my lily pad” I say smiling
I apologize for making the dinner awkward and she just says “love it’s ok to be insecure about stuff but please understand your all I need as a partner ok I’m happy with our blended family” I smile
“
