Back to Hogwarts
1st of September 1976
"Hurry up you lot!" Barty called up the stairs, Regulus was looking for his prefect badge and the girls weren't finished their makeup.
"Dora, can I borrow your bronzer mines in my trunk," Jade asked, Pandora handed over the the little compact. "Thanks, your a life saver!" Jade applied it all over her face and handed it back.
"Dora have you seen my badge?" Regulus looked exasperated.
"Yea," She replied casually.
"What?" Regulus exclaimed.
"Yea, it's on Evan's bed I saw him messing with it this morning," She smiled in her mirror, "I'm done!"
"Me too," Jade said hopping out of her seat.
Barty appeared at the doorway. "Lovely, now hurry!"
Jade laughed, "Why are you so eager to go?"
"Because, at Hogwarts I can do what I want!" he whined.
"That not even slightly true!" Pandora smirked, "You just want to see your Mummy!"
"Shut up," Barty smiled.
"Mummy's boy," Jade teased.
***
Mr. Rosier had arranged Ministry cars to take them to King's Cross. When Jade stepped onto platform nine and three quarters, she was cornered immediately.
"Jade Euphemia Olivia Potter," Her mother looked livid.
"What did you do this time," Evan winked as he passed.
"You young lady are in big trouble," Euphemia thundered, "How on Earth! Could you not tell me you had a boyfriend? And James informs me he his prejudice, entitled and in short a brat,"
"Yes, I have boyfriend, but he is not entitled or a brat," she said, "He is in fact a kind person and he is right over there if you want to meet him."
"Excuse me, I am not finished." Euphemia snapped. "Mary MacDonald returned from Diagon Alley a few days ago, brimming with tears, because of him and that Crouch boy!"
"MacDonald is a wuss," Jade hissed, "She'd cry if you looked at her funny."
"Don't insult her, or me for that matter. I am not an idiot. I know who Mark Zabini is. His parents are-"
"Just like the Blacks," she groaned in exasperation, "Yet you'd be thrilled if I went out with Sirius!" Jade interrupted her.
"I would because Sirius is a kind boy with respect for everyone regardless of blood status!"
"Kind?" She laughed, "There's no way we're talking about the same person! I don't care what you think of me or my friends! You're ashamed of me, just because I'm not a perfect little Gryffindor like you, and Dad, and James!" her eyes were watering.
"If you'd have gone to Ilvermorny when we asked you we wouldn't have this problem! You'd have proper friends that aren't Death Eaters
she grabbed her trunk and stormed off. She love to slap Sirius good and hard, stupid bastard.
She found the others and stayed with them, Barty was in fact hugging his mum. She thought it was cute, how much he loved her, or rather how much they loved each other. Though she looked scary, she was one of the nicest people you could meet. Mrs. Crouch noticed Jade was teary eyed.
"What's wrong love?" She eyed Jade sympathetically.
"It's nothing Mrs. Crouch, but thank you for your concern." She put on a fake smile.
"You're a very polite young lady," chirped Mrs. Meadows.
"She is, isn't she," Walpurga Black was surveying her. She didn't seem to like her, given the fact she thought she was a blood traitor like the rest of her family.
The train whistle blew, signalling the children to board.
"Your mum is fucking scary Reg," Jade sighed as they put their luggage on the rack.
"Yup," Regulus grimaced.
"Don't you two need sit in the prefects compartment?" Evan asked.
"Shit we do!" Jade said, taking her luggage back down. "See you lot later."
They went up to the front of the train and found the prefects compartment, it seemed somehow larger.
"Hello!" The head girl smiled at them as they walked.
"Hiya," Jade did her best to smile back.
"I'm Amelia Bones, your Head-Girl." She said once they'd all sat down.
"And I'm Amir Patel, your Head-Boy!" he was grinning toothily as well, Jade thought they looked idiotic.
They yapped on and on for about a half hour before introducing the other prefects. The sixth year Slytherin prefects were Dorcas and Dominic Malfoy and the seventh years were Cedar Parkinson and Alisha Goyle.
After that Regulus and Jade stopped listening, until the Gryffindor prefects were announced.
"This is Lily Evans, and this is Remus Lupin," Amir smiled, Jade and Regulus glared at them. Lupin glared back, Lily avoided their gaze and kept smiling.
They finished up shortly after that and went back to the others. Dorcas caught up with them. "Why won't Lily talk to me!" She looked stressed.
"Why would you want to talk to her," Regulus grinned.
"Because I want to see Marlene," Dorcas sighed.
"I'll tell you later," Jade said hurriedly, "First we need to get something from my trunk," She threw the lid open and took out a silvery cloth.
"What's that?" Regulus eyed it suspiciously.
"It's James's invisibility cloak," Jade smirked. She threw it over herself. "Take my trunk to the others. I'll be back soon."
Jade hurried along the corridor, luckily no one was in the corridor. She found the compartment.
Thank god for Peter he came back the bathroom and forgot to close the door. Jade slipped in and stood in a corner.
"So who are the new prefects, anyone we know?" Sirius asked Remus. Sirius looked quite comfortable. Mary was asleep on his shoulder.
"Jade and Regulus," Remus also looked relaxed. He was in a ball in the back corner reading a book.
"Mum will be happy," James sighed.
"Did you not hear their shouting match? About her ass of a boyfriend," Marlene laughed.
"Not her fault, she just has bad taste," James said open a chocolate frog and biting the head off.
"Terrible taste," Remus smirked.
"Guys I think your forgetting she's my sister," James said nervously, scratching his head.
"You have to admit though, she's some little brat," Mary had woken up.
"Not really, it's just the people she's friends with," James looked a bit upset. This made Jade smile, he did actually like her.
"And they've made her a stuck up little brat!" Lily chimed in.
'Shut up Evans, at least I have friends!' Jade wanted to say.
"Guys drop it," Peter said. "Can't you see James is uncomfortable,"
"He doesn't need to take part in our group discussion," Sirius grinned.
"What've you even got against her Sirius?" James asked.
"She's the same as Regulus, she's turning into a typical Slytherin," He began, "She's prejudice, she's rude, she's a has no respect for anyone accept purebloods,"
"Oh come on," James's cheeks were red. "Give me one example of her having respect for only purebloods!"
"Well, out of all your friends she only talks to me and Peter, because we're the only Purebloods!" Sirius looked as though he'd thought this over multiple times.
“One of her best friends is a a half-blood!” James retaliated.
“Dorcas Meadows has a pureblood father and a half-blood mother, not to mention she’s stinking rich! Face it James your little sister is going to end up a Death Eater!" James didn't reply, he looked around the compartment.
Jade had enough, she slid out the door.
She took off the cloak. Tears were streaming down her face. She'd never join the Dark Lord! How could Sirius even think that!
She found the compartment the others were in.
"Hey Jade!" Regulus smiled at her. "What's wrong, where did you go?"
"I went to the Gryffindor's compartment," She sniffed. "All of them started calling me a brat, and saying I'll end up a Death Eater!"
"Is it really that bad to be called a Death Eater?" Evan asked, "With The Dark Lord people like them will be truly beneath us."
"I suppose," She had stopped crying, but her face was tear stained. Mark appeared at the door of the compartment.
"Hi guys!" He smiled, "Why are you crying?" he looked genuinely concerned, Mum was obviously wrong.
"The Gryffindors, she snuck into their compartment to see if they were saying anything about Cas and they started going off on one about her," Regulus explained.
"Fuck sake!" Mark snapped, "Want me to hex them because I can and I will,"
"No it's fine," She said, she had an idea. "We just have to give them detention for every little thing they do," She smirked, that would drive them mad.
"Good idea, because only the ginger and Loony Lupin are prefects," Dorcas smiled. "We can still get rest of them into trouble
"We've got to patrol the corridors now anyway Jade." Regulus said, opening the door.
***
They purposely walked up to the compartment the Gryffindors were in and stood outside it.
"What do you two want?" Sirius snarled sticking his head out.
"You talking to us?" Jade smiled innocently.
"Who the fuck else?" Sirius rolled his eyes.
"Careful Black, we don't want to give you detention." Jade smirked at him.
"Oh shut up," He muttered.
"Detention, for disrespecting authority," Regulus was enjoying this.
"Yeah right," Sirius sneered, he went back into the compartment.
"I wish we could take house points," Regulus sighed.
"Sadly only teachers can," Jade said.
They stood outside their compartment for a good ten minutes, until Lupin came out.
"Fuck off or I'll give you detention," He demanded.
"Calm down Loony, you know you can't give us detention," Regulus was full of glee, he loved annoying the Gryffindors.
"Yea, you wouldn't want us to report you to McGonagall, for abusing your abilities as a prefect." Jade winked.
"Well me and Lily have to patrol the corridor now." Lupin thought he had bested them.
"Nope, after us is Dorcas Meadows and Dominic Malfoy," Jade insisted, "Why here they are now!" Dorcas and Dominic were walking towards them.
"Good luck patrolling here it's crawling with idiots!" Jade made sure that the others heard her.
Jade and Regulus strode off down the corridor smiling to themselves.
They got back to the compartment, and told the others about what Lupin and Sirius had said. When Dorcas came back she looked distraught, Marlene had broken up with her.
"That bitch!" Pandora hissed when Dorcas told them.
"You were to good for her anyway!" Barty said, "Filthy little prick!"
"Why did she break up with you?" Regulus asked.
"She said that we were to different, but she told me last year that's reason she liked me!" Poor Dorcas didn't deserve this.
"Well, if she's to fucking idiotic to realise how bloody amazing you are, you shouldn't waste your time," Barty put his arm around her.
"Barty's right, plus you are way to good for, look at you! Your hot as fuck!" Jade said grabbing her hand.
"Thanks guys," She smiled.
The lanterns had turned on. "I'm going to change into my robes," Dorcas said, she had cheered up a little bit, but she was still upset.
***
When they got to Hogsmeade station Barty and Evan started pushing second years out of the way to get a carriage.
"Oi Crouch!" Lily Evans shouted running towards them. "Leave them alone,"
"Fuck off idiot," Evan sneered, as he got into the carriage.
They all laughed at her as the carriage rode off.
"She's some annoyance," Regulus laughed.
"Isn't she" Barty grinned.
Jade climbed up the stairs to the Entrance Hall, she could see the first years rowing across the lake. "Oi, Potter," Jade turned. It was Marlene.
"Fuck off McKinnon!" She rolled her eyes, she was in no mood to talk to her.
"No, I need to talk to you," Marlene ran up the stairs.
Jade looked at her, "What do you want?"
"Where's Dorcas?," Marlene looked worried.
"Don't bother, if you try anything Barty will hex you," She wasn't wrong, Barty's solution to everything was a bat bogey hex.
"I'm not afraid of him," She smiled. "Oh yeah and James wants to talk to you after the feast,".
"Do me a favour and tell him to fuck off, will you?" She said catching up with the others. Marlene got the message and left her alone.
Jade spent the sorting ceremony talking to Mark. She really could care less who was sorted where.
"Cas, McKinnon was looking for you," Jade said as the plates filled up.
"Oh, what did you say?" Dorcas asked looking up at her.
"Told her if she came near you Barty would hex her,"
"At least you didn't lie," Dorcas smiled. "I'm done with her, Miranda Bulstrode told me she fancies me. Might go out with her."
"Your better off, she's prettier," Jade said.
After the feast finished Dumbledore said his usual speech, accept it was slightly different.
"To our new students welcome, to the rest of you welcome back." Dumbledore began, "You no doubt know about the current state of the wizarding world. I hope you are all aware that you will most likely be forced to pick a side, and I am reminding you all that only you can choose, your parents should have no say in your decision." He looked to the Slytherin table as he said this. "Remember, happiness can be found in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light! Now off to bed with you! Goodnight!" He finished with a pearly white smile.
"First years follow me please!" Jade remembered how scared she had been when she had been sorted into Slytherin in her first year, she had known nobody except Regulus and she hadn't known him long, they merely sat in the same compartment on their first train journey to school. When they both still looked up to their older brothers.
Someone grabbed Jade's arm as she was leading the first years to the dungeon. James. "Leave me alone James," She sighed. "I need to bring the first years to the common room." She shook him off.
"Jade I really need to talk to you," He pleaded.
"Leave me alone James." She hissed. She strode quickly off after the Slytherins.
"Miss Potter!" someone called. She turned to see that it was Professor McGonagall
"Yes Professor?" She smiled.
"Come with me please," She lead Jade to her office, Mary was standing outside. "You may return to your common room, Mr. Black will be there shortly,"
Mr Black? What did she do? And why the hell was Sirius involved.
"You are probably both wondering why your here," McGonagall said, "I assure that you are not in trouble. Well not you Miss Potter." She was glad. "You however Mr. Black, are achieving very, very poor marks in Divination. So I consulted Professor Rowle and she thought you might benefit from a tutor. Which is where you come in Miss Potter, you are receiving the highest marks in Divination out of all students taking the class and you will tutor him, I don't want to hear any complaints."
"But Professor, I dont need a tutor I can study myself!" Sirius whined.
"Yes Professor he really doesn't." Jade said.
"If I hear anymore complaints neither of you will be on your house quidditch teams!" McGonagall silenced them. "You may leave. Remember five nights a week, you'll use my classroom for peace and quiet!"
They both got up and walked out, "I'll have you know I'm not happy about this" Sirius hissed as the door closed behind them.
"Don't talk to me anymore than you need to," Jade snarled.
***
"I have to tutor him!" Jade shouted when she got back to the common room.
"Who?" Evan asked.
"Sirius! I have to tutor him! Because he's shit at Divination!" Jade flopped onto her usual armchair by the fire. "Ugh!"
"If Reg can live with him for sixteen years you can tutor him." Barty said.
"I lost my will to live ages ago," Regulus joked.
"It's okay babe I'll be in the library when your tutoring him," Mark sat down on the arm of the chair and kissed her on the forehead.
"We have to use the fucking Transfiguration classroom for peace and quiet! Bullshit!" she slapped Mark's hand away from her.
"Calm down, Christ it's not that big a deal," Mark teased.
"Oh fuck off idiot." She hissed.
"Do you want to break up or something?" He laughed.
"I'd like that very much!" She snapped.
Mark stormed off up the stairs. "He'll be begging me to take him back tomorrow morning." Jade grinned.

September 2nd 1976
At breakfast the following morning Peter came over to the Slytherin table.
"Hi Jade!" He smiled "Sirius want's me to tell you that he is available tonight for a tutoring session"
"Hiya Peter! You can tell him that we'll be doing study sessions from 6-7 every weekday, and that the sessions will be revolving around my schedule as opposed to his," She smiled. "Thanks Peter," Peter smiled and went back over to the Gryffindor table. Less than five minutes later, Sirius stormed over.
"How come the stupid sessions have to go with your schedule? Why not mine?" His usually pale face was red.
"Because," She said standing up. "I'm the one suffering just because you can't do Divination, therefore the times and days Peter told you are when I am available to tutor you," she sat back down and continued eating.
She had Arithmancy first. Her and Regulus walked to the third floor classroom, and sat right at the front.
Professor Thomas was sitting at his desk, looking down at them all. "Everyone in the back move swap with those in the front," The short man called. Everyone was wise to his plans at this point so those who wanted to sit at the back always sat at the front and vice-versa.
"That was boring," Regulus sighed as they packed up there things for potions. They had spent the hour getting lectured on the importance of O.W.L.s, it was hard not to fall asleep.
"Maybe we'll get lucky and Slughorn won't give us any homework either," Jade grinned slinging her bag over her shoulder.
They had no such luck, Slughorn caught them by surprise by setting an essay, on strength potions. “This will be good practice for your O.W.L.s!” He said cheerfully.
"I hate Slughorn," Jade sighed, her and Pandora were in the bathroom fixing their hair and make-up.
"I'm telling you Mary, Sirius is unreliable!" Lily Evans entered the bathroom, closely followed by Mary and Marlene.
"Lily, stop! I like him, I've liked him since second year!" Mary sighed. "Oh you're in here," Mary glared at Jade and Pandora.
"Well if you want my advice on your unreliable boyfriend you could just ask," Jade smirked.
"Why, what do you know?" Mary asked suspiciously.
"Well," Jade began, "Evan and Barty saw him leaving the second floor broom cupboard with Selena McNamara, I'll say no more," She wasn't lying. Barty told them in potions.
"Your lying!" Mary snapped.
"Believe me or don't," Jade shrugged. She enjoyed seeing the panic in Mary's eyes. Her and Pandora left Mary standing there with the other two.
