“Sirius, tell me you have the keys,” Regulus says, looking menacing. Or well, as menacing as he can look while dressed as an off-brand vampire. Also, Sirius’ glare tolerance has gone up by at least 50% since he started hanging around Regulus more often.

“Erm, they were around here somewhere.” Sirius pats his pockets to no avail while giving Reg the best apologetic look he can muster five drinks in.

“If you don’t open these handcuffs within the next 5 seconds, you are a dead man.” Regulus waves his hand around for emphasis, pulling James’ arm with it. Not that James, who is dressed as Spiderman, seems to mind much as he looks between the brothers with a mixture of fear and amusement.

“Now Reggie, you wouldn’t kill your favorite brother, would you?” The look on Regulus’ face very much disagrees with this statement. Sirius switches tactics. “There are too many witnesses?”

“Please, this is literally Evan and Barty’s apartment. I bet they would thank me for making this Halloween party more exciting.” The last time Sirius saw Evan and Barty they were in the kitchen standing a little too close to the knives and dressed as Will Graham and Hannibal Lecter respectively, so Regulus may be right about that.

“What kind of cowboy costume requires handcuffs anyways?” Regulus continues, his rising frustration evident.

“I told you. I’m a courageous, dashing sheriff and Remus is the roguishly handsome outlaw that I have to bring to justice,” Sirius replies, giving Remus a suggestive look. Remus tugs him closer with an arm around his waist and plants a kiss on his cheek.

“Keep your kinky shit to yourself,” Regulus responds, looking disgusted. “Why did you even lock them?”

“I was testing to see if they worked,” Sirius says and cringes at how unconvincing he sounds.

“Really.” Regulus’ glare somehow intensifies.

“No, you want the real answer, Reggie? It’s because we’re all tired of you and James tiptoeing around each other for months. You’re both miserable, and you’re driving everyone else insane. So I am not unlocking those cuffs until you two talk.”

If Sirius had a death wish, he would laugh at Regulus’ gobsmacked expression. Regulus now has a pink tint to his cheeks and is decidedly avoiding looking at James, which is a feat considering they are still very much attached at the wrists.

Clearly James does not share Sirius’ survival instincts as he leans over and says, “Well he’s not entirely wrong, love.”

Regulus’ eyes widen and his face turns cherry red. James looks utterly delighted. Sirius rolls his eyes at them.

“You don’t have the keys, do you?” Remus ducks his head to whisper in Sirius’ ear. Sirius shakes his head as discreetly as he can. He can feel Remus laughing against him as he says, “I think it might be time to start running.”

And Regulus.exe must have finally rebooted because a thunderous exclamation of “SIRIUS!” follows them out of the room.
