The sun was doing its best to make its rich, golden glow pierce through Wanda Maximoff's vision and wake her up, and it was only moderately succeeding. Despite the fact that the sun was shining through all of the large Avengers Tower windows, Wanda could not detect the typical comings and goings of the others during the morning, so she was reluctant to get up out of bed. She let out a languid yawn, eyes fluttering open. Things seemed to be normal at first, until she looked down and saw something that was decidedly not normal.
She expected to see one of her human arms extending from the covers, but instead, a tiny, pawed foot barely poked out from them. Blinking rapidly, Wanda attempted to move her legs and feet, but the movement felt wrong, like something was missing or out of place. Instead of legs, she saw paws, fluffy and soft, with claws and a tail- what she knew due to the leaden feeling in her stomach was her own.
Like a kid getting ready to come home from school, she shot up out of her bed, landing gracefully on paws. Glancing down at her body, she now was face to face with what she had become: a golden retriever puppy. Her breathing stopped for a moment at seeing strawberry blonde red fur that matched her human hair, and azure blue eyes gazing back at her from the mirror, albeit not in their standard form. Her vision started to move as her heart began to thump in protest of the anxiety that she was developing.
"Oh God.... no.... no... I can't be a dog, not a puppy," she whimpered, her voice climbing the ladder of pitches until the only noise she could muster was a sharp, frenetic squeak. She started to move around in circles, not sure how to calm herself down as a puppy. She continued to run until she heard the door get nudged open, and the head of a lioness poke in, resting there for a moment before slowly padding into the room. Wanda felt her blood pressure immediately spike, and just as quickly fall once she realized who the scarlet-furred, emerald eyed lioness was.
