Andy and Maya were putting drinks on the fridge for the teams get together. " So how are things with you and Meredith? Are you guys okay?"

Andy nodded. " More than okay. We are starting IVF soon. I'm going to carry. Mer froze her eggs after she had Bailey so I will be using that. "

Maya pulled Andy for a hug. " I'm so happy for you! "

Andy hugged Maya back. " Don't tell anyone in the team yet. We are keeping quiet at list until I'm ready to the implant. So how are you and Carina. "

Maya let out a smile. " We are great. I just love waking up with her next to me. "

Was than that Dean , Vic , Jack Travis walked in tougher. " Hi you too. Where are the snacks?"

Maya shook her head. " I forgot. I will ask Sullivan to bring some. " Was than than the Bell rung it was Sullivan. " To late to ask you for snack. "

Was than that Andy's phone rung. It's was Janet, Zola's best friend mom. " Janet something is wrong?"

Janet's voice was shaken. " The girls, I was in there park with them and they just vanished now Eva's watch puts her at this house -"

Andy cut her off. " Janet just tell where you are and call 9-1-1."

Andy heard the address and hung up. " Guys I need help. Zola and her friend they got lost in the park and Eva's watch puts her in a house a few blocks from here. "

Maya held her breath. " Let's go! "

They quickly got to the address were Janet was arguing with two police officers. " Ma'am I can't break into someone's home just because-"

Andy cut him off. " There are two eleven years old inside! Eva's location points to this house? You have probable cause! "

The officer shook his head. " Those things don't even work properly half of the time this kind of kid they run away. "

Andy was about to puch the office but Sullivan held her back. " Back girls get kidnapped and trafficked because people like you are to racist to do anything to stop it! My daughter is inside that house!"

Was than that Maya stepped in. " I smell Gas."

The Capitan knocked on the door. A white middle aged man opened the door. " I don't know nothing about no kids! Leave me alone!"

Maya didn't stand down. " Sir I think you may have a gas leak we are with SFD-"

The man closed the door before Maya could react. Was than that they saw smoke. Andy kicked down the door as the rest team moved inside. Maya grabbed her radio. " Dispatch this Capitain Bishop we need an engine and there Aid Car on Hover Street, 644. "

Before the man could leave the house Andy grabbed him by his arm and twisted. " Where is my daughter?"

The men was on varge of tears. " In the basement?"

Andy threw him in the ground as she went to the basement with Maya and Jack as the others checked the rest of the house.

Andy, Maya, and Jack rushed down the basement stairs, their boots pounding against the wooden steps.

The basement was dark and smelled musty, with a single, flickering bulb hanging from the ceiling. Andy’s heart pounded in her chest as she scanned the room. In the far corner, she spotted Zola and Eva, huddled together, their arms wrapped around each other.

"Zola!" Andy's voice cracked as she sprinted toward them. Zola looked up, her face streaked with tears.

"Mami!" Zola ran into Andy’s arms, sobbing. "We were so scared!"

Andy held her tightly, pressing a kiss to the top of her head. "I got you, baby. You're safe now."

Eva clung to Zola, shaking. Maya crouched beside her. "Eva, are you hurt?"

Eva shook her head, her lip trembling. "He locked us in here."

Jack glanced at the door, noticing a bolt on the outside. His jaw clenched. "We need to get them out of here. Now."

Maya nodded, grabbing Eva’s hand. "Come on, sweetheart. Let’s get you out of this creepy place."

When they finally reached the exit the home owner was yelling at them. " Those brats set my place on fire! They broke in!"

The officer truned to Zola. " Is that truth young lady?"

Andy rolled her eyes. " Are you serious right now! This bastard kidnapped two children!"

Was than the Engine 19 arrived with the firefighters from B shift. As they stared to put down the fire two Aid Car arrived. Andy took Zola to get checked.

Was than than one of the officers aproched. " Your daughter needs to give a statement. "

Andy shook her head. " You can't be serious right now! That pervert kidnap my daughter and her friend from the park and looked them on his basement! "

The officer smirked. " You don't know that. This man has no record. I need to run an proper investigation. If your daughter started the fire you will have to figure out a way to pay for the damage ."

Andy crossed her arms. "  You think my kid is some kind of criminal because she is black! You are are disgusting racist pig!"

Was than that the officers lanched at and. Dean tried to step in and was thrown in the ground for another officer that had just arrived at the scene. Zola was crying in desperation as Andy was taken.

Maya walked towards the girl and hugged her. " It's okay Zo. I'm going to call your mom and we are going to figure this out. I promise"

As the police car doors slammed shut, Andy locked eyes with Zola through the window. The little girl was sobbing into Maya’s chest, her entire body shaking. Andy clenched her fists, rage bubbling beneath her skin. She’d faced a lot in her life—fire, loss, betrayal—but nothing compared to the helplessness of watching her daughter cry while she was being treated like a criminal.

Dean sat beside her in the squad car, rubbing his wrists where the officers had roughly grabbed him. "This is some real bullshit," he muttered, shaking his head.

Andy nodded, her jaw tight. "They're protecting a damn kidnapper instead of the kids he took. And now they want to pin this on my daughter?" She exhaled sharply, trying to steady her breath. "I swear, if they put Zola through hell over this, I—"

Dean cut in. "We’ll get out of this. Maya and the others won’t let it stand. Meredith definitely won’t."

Andy sighed, knowing he was right. If there was one thing Meredith Grey was good at, it was fighting for the people she loved.

Back at the Scene

Maya pulled out her phone and called Meredith, urgency thick in her voice.

Meredith picked up immediately. "Maya?"

Maya didn’t waste time. "It’s Zola she was taken She’s safe, but some racist cop just arrested Andy.

There was a pause, then Meredith’s voice, cold and sharp. "Where is she?"

Maya gave her the station’s address. "Mer, it’s bad. They’re trying to say Zola started the fire. The guy who kidnapped them is playing the victim saying she and Eva broke into his house "

Meredith’s voice dropped lower. "I’ll handle it. Do not let them question Zola without me."

"I won’t," Maya promised.

As soon as she hung up, she turned back to Zola, who was still clinging to her. "Your mom is on her way, okay? She’s going to fix this."

Zola sniffled. "They took Mami," she whispered, voice trembling. "They took her like they took me."

Maya’s heart broke at the fear in her voice. She held her a little tighter. "I know, Zo. But she’s going to be okay. And so are you."

At the Police Station

By the time they arrived, Andy was done playing nice. She sat in an interrogation room with Dean, arms crossed, glaring at the officer across from her.

"You want to explain to me why you’re so quick to believe a kidnapper over a firefighter?" she snapped.

The officer smirked. " Ma'am your daughter broke into someone's house and stated a fire. "

Andy slammed her hands on the table. "You don’t get to talk about my daughter like that."

Before the officer could respond, the door flew open.

Meredith Grey walked in, furious.

Her coat was barely on her shoulders, her eyes cold as ice. She wasn’t just a doctor right now—she was a mother on the warpath.

Behind her, a well-dressed lawyer followed, briefcase in hand.

Meredith ignored everyone except the officer. "You’re going to let my wife and her friend go right now."

The officer leaned back. "We’re conducting an investigation, ma’am—"

Meredith cut him off. "No, you’re covering for a man who kidnapped my daughter and her friend. That’s what you’re doing."

The lawyer stepped forward, placing a thick folder on the table. "Dr. Grey has already contacted the Seattle Police Commissioner, as well as a civil rights attorney. If you don’t release them immediately, you will be facing a lawsuit that will cost this department millions."

The officer’s smirk faded.

Andy raised an eyebrow. "Told you my wife doesn’t play around."

The officer hesitated, then sighed and stood. "Fine. They can go."

Andy and Dean stood, shaking their heads.

As soon as Andy stepped out of the room, Meredith grabbed her hand tightly. "Are you okay?"

Andy exhaled, nodding. "I am now."

Meredith squeezed her fingers, then looked at Dean. "You too?"

Dean grinned. "Yeah, but I could use a drink."

Meredith smirked. "We’ll get one after I finish tearing this department apart."

Andy smiled at her wife, proud. "You’re incredible, you know that?"

Meredith raised an eyebrow. "Yes. But tell me again later."

Andy chuckled, then wrapped an arm around Meredith as they walked out. She had no doubt the fight wasn’t over, but with Meredith by her side, she knew they’d win.

And more importantly, Zola was safe. That was all that mattered.

Meanwhile at the scene

Maya arguing with the cops When Derek aproched them. " Man we can't let the kid go with a patent. "

Derek sighed, running a hand through his hair. "I'm her father. Dr. Derek Sheapard. Before you ask you are not questioning my daughter. "

He crouched in front of Zola, his voice gentle. "Hey, ZoZo. Are you okay?"

Zola nodded, but her grip on Maya’s hand didn’t loosen. "They took Mami," she whispered again.

Derek exchanged a glance with Maya, then pulled Zola into a hug. "Mami’s tough, sweetheart. She’ll be home soon, I promise. You Mom will make sure of it."

Derek turned back to the officers. " I'm taking my daughter home.  You will be hearing from us. "

Derek said before picking Zola in his arms. " Let's go home okay? You Mom is getting your Mami. "

A while later

When Derek got Meredith's home with Zola Andy and Meredith were already there. Zola ran into Andy's arms. " It's okay Cariño Mami is here. You are safe here with us. "

Zola sobbed into Andy's arms. " The men he was with a woman and a kid. We were playing with the child he pulled us into his van. He didn't hit us but he looked us in the basement. When Aunt Janny knocked he said he would hurt us if we yelled. "

Andy rubbed Zola's back. " That must have been so scary. But you are safe now. "

Zola sobbed harder. " I started the fire Mami. I knew you would come to save us if there was a fire. I don't want the cops to take me. "

Meredith stepped closer. " No one is taking you Zo. You did what you had to do to save yourself and your friend. You were very smart and brave. "

Derek took a heavy breath. " You Mom is right Zo. You didn't do anything wrong. Sometimes we have to do things that may sound bad to protect ourselves or other people.  "

Zola finally stopped sobbing. Andy picked her up. " What about we take a nap toughter? "

Zola rested her head on Andy's shoulder. " Si. A nap sounds good. But you have to stay. "

Andy kissed Zola's temple. " Simpre cariño. "

After Andy walked out Derek sat on the couch with this head on his hands. " We knew something like this could happen I just tough wouldn't be before she is even in her teens. "

Meredith sat next to her ex husband. " If Andy's whole team wasn't hanging out at the next block- they could have been on a call. Our daughter could have been trafficked or-"

Derek shook his head, rubbing his face. "Don’t say it, Mer." His voice was raw. "I can’t even—" He exhaled sharply. "Zola was lucky. We were lucky. But how do we keep her safe? How do we make sure this never happens again?"

Meredith leaned back against the couch, exhausted but still on edge. "We do what we always do. We fight. Andy and I will talk to the precinct about those cops, make sure they’re held accountable. And we'll have to be more careful. Hire security. But a tracker on her phone, and her watch ."

Derek let out a humorless chuckle. "So this is what parenting is now? Tracking our kid like she’s some  target?"

Meredith gave him a look. "She is a target Derek. She is a black young girl and as older she gets the worse it will be. "

Derek sighed, nodding. "Yeah. I know." He ran a hand through his hair. "I just hate this. She’s a kid. She shouldn’t have to be this brave, this smart. She should be playing with her friends, not setting fires to save her own life."

Meredith’s jaw tightened. "I know. We need to do something about what happened Derek. Most black girls parents don't have the means we do. "

Derek toed his head. " I know but right now Zola is to terrified and we need to focus on her. After she is less traumatized we can all sue PD. Go to the midia. But not now. "

Meredith  nodded. " You are right. She is handling enough right now. You can stay in the guest room. Zola needs us. Amy took Bailey and Ellis out. "

Derek let out a deep breath. " She does. But I need grab some clothes and a tooth brush. "

As Derek left Meredith walked upstairs to find Zola and Andy cuddled up on their bed.

Meredith laid next to her wife and hugged them. " You saved her. "

Andy snuggled into her wife. " I go inside burning buildings to save people I don't even know so I was just doing my job. Mer we need to do something -"

Meredith cut Andy off with a light kiss. " I will make sure she has security. We will figure out. I know today was terrifying but you are both save now. "

Meanwhile at Maya's and Carina's apartment

Carina walked in to find Maya running like a maniac on the treadmill. " Bambina slow down. You are going to hurt yourself! Is everything okay. "

Maya stopped the treadmill. " Zola was kidnapped.  She is safe now but they treated her like a criminal then arrested Andy and Dean for defending her. A pervert had my niece looked on a basement and the cops didn't even try to help so no Carina nothing is okay. "

Carina’s heart skipped a beat as she walked over to Maya, who was panting heavily, sweat dripping down her face. The intensity in her eyes was unmistakable, and Carina knew this wasn’t just about the adrenaline of the treadmill anymore. It was the fear, the anger, and the overwhelming need to protect her family.

Carina gently placed her hands on Maya’s shoulders, guiding her to sit down. "Maya, you need to breathe. I’m here, okay? We’ll figure this out."

Maya’s breath came in shallow bursts as she finally sat, running a hand through her disheveled hair." If it's wasn't for the fire Lord knows what could have happened! The cops heard black girls on the radio and they didn't care! So at list you can found a way to make racists desesperar we can't " figure out "."

Carina took a moment . She knew Maya was angry and she didn't want to fight. The doctor put her arms around Maya's waist. " I'm sorry that all this happened bambina. "

Mays rested her head against Carina's shoulder " They didn't even care. They wanted to interrogate Zola. After they arrested Andy they didn't let me leave with her. She was so scared. "

Carina pulled Maya closer. " I know that this must have been terrifying and I know this country is not always save for kids like Zola.  But she is safe now. They to hold on to that. Let's get you to the shower si? Then we can cuddle a little. "

Maya let Carina guide her to the bathroom. After the shower they laid tougher in bed. " I'm sorry for the away I spoke to you. I shouldn't have take my frustration out on you. "

Carina ran her fingers through Maya's hair.  " It's okay bambina. You were over whelmed. "

Maya snuggled against her girlfriend. " She is eleven Car.  And they only took the call because they tough her and her friend could be bothering someone in a white naiberhood."

Carina pressed a soft kiss to Maya’s temple, tightening her arms around her wife. “I know, amore. And it’s infuriating. But Zola is safe, and Andy and Meredith will make sure she’s protected.”

Maya exhaled sharply, shaking her head. “It’s not just about Zola. This happens all the time, to kids who don’t have moms like Meredith Grey fighting for them. What if it was someone else’s daughter? What if no one had been there?”

Carina felt the weight of Maya’s words settle in her chest. “Then we help fight, Maya. However we can.”

Maya’s body finally relaxed a little against Carina’s. “Yeah. We fight.”

Back at Meredith and Andy’s House

Andy woke up to the feeling of a tiny hand gripping hers. She blinked down at Zola, who was curled into her side, still sleeping but clinging onto her as if she was afraid to let go.

Meredith was still lying beside them, awake, running her fingers through Zola’s curls.

“She barely let me move,” Andy murmured, careful not to wake her.

Meredith gave a small, sad smile. “She needed you.”

Andy sighed, pressing a kiss to Zola’s forehead. “I just wish she never had to go through this.”

Meredith’s eyes darkened. “She shouldn’t have. Those cops, the way they handled everything… we can’t let it slide, Andy.”

Andy nodded. “I know. And we won’t.”

Meredith hesitated before whispering, “She set that fire because she knew you would come. She believed in you that much.”

Andy’s throat tightened. “I won’t let her down.”

Meredith leaned in, kissing Andy softly. “You never do.”

Andy exhaled, squeezing Meredith’s hand. “Then let’s make sure this never happens again.”

Meredith’s jaw tightened, determination burning in her eyes. “We will.”
