Maya and Carina were making out in Maya's office when someone opened the door. It was Andy " Cap I -:I can come back later. "

Carina and Maya separated and Carina looked up at Andy. " You must be Andy. Maya told me a lot about you. I'm Carina DeLuca."

Maya stepped in. " Carina is my - my girlfriend. "

Before anyone could say anything Carina's pager buzzed. " Bambina I have to go. I see you later. Nice to meet you Andy. " She kissed Maya than left.

Andy had so many questions. " So Maya monogamy is for the weak has a girlfriend now? And she brought you lasagna? I tough you just sleep with people than never spoke to them again!"

Maya let out a smile. " You vare about my life? Iso you don't hate me anymore. "

Andy bot her lip. " I could never hate you Maya. I'm hurt. Not about you getting the job. I'm hurt because my best friend agrees that I'm not good enough for it because of my emotions. I would be fine with you thinking you were that better candidate but that is not what you told Sullivan. I spoke like- Like I'm some reckless emotional mess that could never make Captain anywhere. "

Maya’s smile faltered. “Andy, that’s not—”

Andy held up a hand. “Don’t. I know what you said, Maya. I heard it from Sullivan himself. I’m too emotional. Too reckless. Not leadership material.” Her voice was steady, but her eyes were filled with hurt.

Maya took a step closer, guilt washing over her. “Andy, I never meant to say you weren’t good enough. I was trying to—”

“Just be honest,” Andy interrupted. “Did you believe what you said? That I let my emotions cloud my judgment?”

Maya hesitated. “I think… sometimes, yes.”

Andy scoffed, crossing her arms. “Wow. Okay.”

Maya ran a hand through her hair, frustration creeping in. “Andy, it’s not that I think you’re not capable! You’re one of the best firefighters I know, but sometimes, you let your feelings lead first, and in this job, that can be dangerous. That’s all I meant.”

Andy let out a bitter laugh. “You realize that’s exactly what they say about women in leadership, right? That we’re too emotional? Too reactive?”

Maya sighed. “That’s not what I meant. It’s not about you being a woman. It’s just—”

“It’s just me,” Andy finished for her.

Maya looked at her, searching for the right words. " Since you took that Captain test yes. You were so obsessed with proving yourself that you made fucked up decisions. Fucked up decisions that almost got you killed more than once. I didn't mean you will never be capable. Just now you need - You really need to take care your mental health. I'm sorry that I wasn't honest, that I didn't talk to you before I talked to Sullivan but the reason that I is because I was scared that if you were promoted you would end up getting yourself killed trying to climb the next rank. "

Andy didn't say anything so Maya continued. " I hate that I hurt you but at list now you don't have a perspective of a promotion you are not doing dumb shit that put your life's or the life's of other's at risk. I wanted you to be Capitain Andy. I help you to prepare for it but you stooped listing to me or to anyone. "

Andy clenched her jaw, her arms still crossed tightly over her chest. “You think I stopped listening to you?” she asked, voice low. “Maya, I trusted you. I thought you had my back, and instead, you went behind it.”

Maya exhaled sharply. “I did have your back, Andy. But having your back doesn’t mean lying to you. It means telling you the truth, even when it’s hard to hear.”

Andy shook her head, her eyes glistening. “You should have come to me first. Not Sullivan. Me.”

“I know,” Maya admitted. “And I regret that. But Andy, I was scared. Scared of losing you. You’re my best friend. I didn’t want to see you get hurt.”

Andy let out a bitter chuckle. “Well, you failed on that front.”

Maya took a cautious step forward. “Andy…”

Andy sighed and ran a hand through her hair. “Look, I get it, okay? I know I wasn’t in the best headspace back then. I was reckless. But you making that call for me? It just—it felt like you didn’t believe in me at all. Feels like what my dad always did. "

Maya swallowed hard. “I did believe in you, Andy. I still do. But believing in someone doesn’t mean ignoring when they’re struggling. And yes was fucked up to go behind your back but I didn't know how to talk to you. "

Andy studied her for a long moment before finally nodding. “I get it,” she admitted. “But it still hurts.”

“I know,” Maya said softly. “And I’m sorry.”

Andy let out a long breath before uncrossing her arms. “Just… don’t go behind my back again, okay?”

Maya gave a small smile. “I won’t.”

A silence settled between them, heavy but no longer hostile. " I'm sorry too. I'm sorry that I made you feel like you couldn't be honest. I'm sorry I stopped listening to you. And il sorry I was a jerk after you got promoted. You deserved that I'm sorry I acted like you didn't. "

Before Andy could say anything Maya pulled her into a hug. " So now you are monogamous and you go all soft on me ? "

Maya let out a laugh. " You are such a idiot. I missed you okay!"

Andy smirk at her best friend. " So when did she became your girlfriend. "

Maya eyes winded. " I don't know. She came with the lasagna and I was a jerk and than I apologize and she kissed me. You walked in and I told you she was my girlfriend. Oh my God what of she doesn't want to be my girlfriend? Maybe she brings lasagna for everyone she sleep's with. "

Andy grabbed Maya's hand. " Maya breath! She would bring homemade lasagna if she wasn't interested in something more. Just talk to her after shift. "

Was than that Maya noticed an engagement ring on Andy's hand. " Oh my God you are engaged to Sullivan? No I do not accept that !"

Andy let out a laugh. " I'm not engaged to him! How do you even know I slept with him? I'm engaged to Meredith. "

Maya yes winded. " But you broke up with her because she was allegedly still in love with her ex-husband. "

Andy rolled her eyes. “Allegedly? Maya, come on.”

Maya crossed her arms. “Well, you were pretty convinced at the time."

Andy sighed, running a hand through her hair. “Yeah, I was. And I was wrong. Look, Derek came back, and it messed with my head. I thought she was still holding on to him, but the truth is, she was just processing everything. It wasn’t about wanting him back. It was about closure.”

Maya still looked skeptical. “And now you’re engaged?”

Andy smiled, looking down at the ring. “Yeah. She proposed last night.”

Maya’s face softened. “And you said yes?”

Andy let out a laugh. “ I'm wearing a ring ain't I ?"

Maya grabbed Andy’s hand, inspecting the ring. “Damn, Grey has good taste.”

Andy smirked. “She does.”

Maya gave her a playful shove. “You’re really out here making grown-up decisions, huh?”

Andy raised an eyebrow. “Says the woman panicking over whether or not she accidentally declared someone her girlfriend.”

Maya groaned. “Oh my God, what if I scared her off?”

Andy laughed. “Maya, she made you food. I know cooking is not your strong suit but you don't bring out homemade meals at work to people you slept with at list you want to be more than just sex. "

Maya still looked uncertain. “ Andy-"

Andy held up a hand. “Nope. Stop. You’re spiraling. Just talk to her. Worst case, she tells you she wants to take things slow. Best case, you have a girlfriend who brings you lasagna.”

Maya narrowed her eyes. “You think she brings lasagna for everyone?”

Andy snorted. “No, Maya. That’s not normal behavior.”

Maya exhaled. “Okay. I’ll talk to her.”

Andy nodded. “Good.” Then she grinned. “Now tell me—was it good lasagna?”

Maya rolled her eyes but couldn’t hide her smile. “It was amazing.”

Andy laughed. “Then you better lock that down, Bishop.”

Maya smirked. “I’ll do my best.”

The tension between them had faded, replaced with something familiar—something solid. The trust they’d nearly lost was still there, just a little bruised.

And for the first time in a long time, Maya felt like they were going to be okay.

At the next day

Maya rung Carina's bell.

Didn't take long for the Italian to open the door. " I brought you a expresso. I know it's early but -"

Carina smiled at her. " Grazie bambina. Come in. Is everything okay?".

Maya walked in. " I told Andy you were my girlfriend. I'm mean you know that you were there when I did. I just. I will understand if you are not ready for that I just really like and-" Carina interrupted Maya with a kiss.

The doctor ran her fingers through Maya's cheek. " I would love to be your girlfriend bella. "

Maya let out a huge smile. " I was worried I was going to scare you off. "

Carina kissed Maya again. " You are really cute when you are nervous. But I don't have to be. I like you too bambina. Now what about you let show you how much?"

Carina said before putting Maya to a heated kiss.

Later

Maya and Carina were cuddling naked. " You are so beautiful Car. "

Carina kissed Maya's jaw. " Sei belissima. You are beautiful too bambina. Expecialy when you are not wearing clothes. "

Mays smiled at her girlfriend. " You are impossible. "

Maya traced lazy circles on Carina’s bare back, feeling the warmth of her skin against her own. The early morning light filtered through the curtains, casting a golden glow over the room.

Carina hummed in contentment. “Mmm, I could stay like this forever.”

Maya chuckled, pressing a kiss to Carina’s temple. “I'm not sure about forever but we are both off today so we may enjoy. "

Carina smiled against Maya’s skin, her fingers tracing absent patterns on Maya’s side. “A whole day with you? Sounds perfect.”

Maya tightened her hold around Carina, pressing a soft kiss to her forehead. “We could stay in bed all day, or we could actually be productive.”

Carina pulled back slightly, raising an eyebrow. “And what would you consider productive, bella?”

Maya grinned. “I don’t know. Maybe going for a run? Making breakfast together? Having a proper date?”

Carina hummed in thought before rolling over and pinning Maya beneath her. “Or,” she murmured, lips brushing against Maya’s jaw, “we could stay here and make the most of our morning.”

Maya let out a laugh, wrapping her arms around Carina’s neck. “I like the way you think.”

Their lips met in another deep, slow kiss, but before they could get lost in each other again, Maya’s stomach growled loudly, breaking the moment.

Carina pulled back with a laugh. “I think someone needs breakfast.”

Maya groaned, covering her face. “That was so embarrassing.”

Carina kissed her cheek, still giggling. “Come on, let’s make something together. Did ever had french toast?"

Maya reluctantly sat up, reaching for her discarded shirt. “ No but judging by how good was your lasagna I'm sure I'm going to like it. "

Carina smirked, standing and grabbing her robe. “You will love it. "

As they moved to the kitchen, Maya leaned against the counter, watching Carina move effortlessly around the space. She looked so at home, so confident, and Maya felt a warm, unfamiliar sense of happiness settle in her chest.

Carina caught her staring and arched an eyebrow. “What?”

Maya shrugged, a soft smile playing on her lips. “Nothing. Just… I like this. I like us.”

Carina’s expression softened, and she reached for Maya’s hand, intertwining their fingers. “Me too, bella. Me too.”

They spent the morning cooking, laughing, and stealing kisses between bites of breakfast. And for the first time in a long time, Maya felt truly happy—like she was exactly where she was supposed to be.

A few days later at Station 19

They were having a really rough shift. " Herrera you are on Aid Car until the end off shift. Let's go to my office so I can patch up the burn in your arm. Someone who is not Gibson cook some food.  Probie all cleaning tasks are yours since you dicided to use the Q-word. "

Maya barked praticly dragging Andy to her office.

Maya pulled Andy into her office, the door clicking shut behind them. The tension from the shift still lingered in the air, but now, it was just the two of them. Maya’s eyes softened as she inspected the burn on Andy's arm. It wasn't severe, but it was enough to make Maya’s worry lines deepen.

"You're an idiot," Maya muttered, as she grabbed a first-aid kit. "What the hell were you thinking, getting burned like that?"

Andy smirked, her usual bravado back in full force despite the pain. " What supposed to do ? Let that kid get burn? "

Maya shook her head. " Just be more careful next time. So I talked to Carina and is official she is my girlfriend now. "

Andy let out a smile. " I told you so. So we have a lot of weeding talk to do. As a maid of hours you have a lot to do. "

Maya let out a big smile. " You are really having me as your maid of honor,? Even after everything?"

Andy looked up at Maya. " You are still my best friend Bishop. Oh God you Try crying! Carina really made you soft!"

Maya chuckled, rolling her eyes. “I’m not soft,” she protested, but the smile on her face betrayed her. “And, of course, I’ll be your maid of honor. I wouldn't miss it for the world, Andy.”

Andy grinned, giving Maya’s arm a playful tug. “Good, because I already planned on you making a speech. Maybe you should start practicing now,” she teased, leaning back against the desk with a smirk.

They walked out to the office to find Carina walking inside the Station. Maya went over her and greated her with a kiss. " Guys this is Dr. Carina Deluca, my girlfriend. "

Dean let out a smile. " So everyone here dates doctors now ?  Congrats Cap. And thank you DR. DeLuca Cap has been in a not better mood than the usual lately. "

Carina smiled warmly at Dean, her eyes softening as she glanced at Maya. "Thank you. It's been... a wonderful change," she said, squeezing Maya’s hand.

Maya shot Carina a playful look. "You’re not just here to flirt with me, are you, babe?"

Carina chuckled, her lips curling into a smile. "Maybe a little, but I also came to cook you guys dinner. You told me you guys were to busy to have a proper meal."

Travis let out a smile. " I doctor that comes here to cook for us you really hit the jackpot Cap. "

Vic jumped into the conversation. " Bishop with a girlfriend, Herrera is engaged is like an alternative universe.  But I'm happy for you Cap. And you better keep this one. She makes us food. "

Jack just walked to his bunk clearly upset. Carina looked up at Maya. " Me and Jack we-I"

Vic stepped in. " Jack and Maya dated. She broke up with him and broke his heart. And he proposed to Andy and she said no and now she is engaged to Meredith. "

Carina looked at her girlfriend. " We can talk about this after dinner. "

After they ate Maya took Carina to her office. " I'm sorry I didn't tell you about Jack. We dated for a while I liked him but I decided to go for Capitain and dating a Leuitenent would get in the way. But I'm completely over him I swear. "

Carina took a moment before speaking. " I wish you had told me that you work with your ex. Expecialy if what you had with him meant something. "

Maya’s stomach sank as she processed Carina’s words. She hadn’t expected this to come up, and the weight of her secret made her feel a bit guilty. She reached out to take Carina’s hands, her voice soft but earnest.

“I should’ve told you,” Maya said, her eyes meeting Carina’s. “But it wasn’t like that with Jack. He’s part of my past, and I thought… I thought it wouldn’t matter. But I see now that it does, and I want to be honest with you about everything.”

Carina gave her a small smile, but it didn’t reach her eyes. She nodded slowly, her thumb tracing the back of Maya’s hand. “I appreciate that, bambina. I know it’s not always easy to bring up the past, but I want to be the one you share it with.”

Maya squeezed her hand, her heart aching at the thought of having kept something from Carina. “I don’t want any more secrets between us,” Maya said, her voice thick with emotion. “You mean too much to me.”

Carina’s smile softened as she leaned in, pressing a gentle kiss to Maya’s forehead. “I know, tesoro. And I mean the same to you.”

They stood there for a moment, the tension from the conversation easing just a little as they shared that quiet, intimate moment.

Carina pulled back slightly, her gaze locking with Maya’s. “But I have to admit, it’s hard not to feel a little… uneasy, knowing he’s still around. Especially when I see him and feel that he still has feelings for you.”

Maya nodded, understanding where Carina was coming from. “I don't think he does. I think he is just hurt that I gave us the chance I didn't give him. Just like he is that Andy didn't want marry him and now is marrying Meredith. Jack grew up in foster care so I guess I wanted to be love with Andy, than with me. It's just complicated but I promise you are all that I want. "

Carina listened intently, her expression softening as Maya spoke. She could see the weight of the past in her words and the sincerity in her eyes. Maya’s honesty was comforting, but the situation with Jack still made her uneasy.

“I understand,” Carina said gently, brushing her thumb over Maya’s knuckles. “But I need to trust you, and you need to trust me, bambina. We’re building something together, we need to be honest with each other. "

Maya nodded, her heart swelling with affection for Carina. “You’re right. I’ve got nothing to hide from you. Is just Jack is my only ex I'm new to this whole relationship thing. "

Carina smiled, the tension between them easing as she pulled Maya into a hug. “I understand. But from now on we tell things to each other ”

They stayed like that for a while, holding each other in the quiet of the office. It was a small moment of peace after the storm of emotions, but it felt like exactly what they needed.

After a moment, Carina pulled back slightly, her gaze meeting Maya’s with a playful glint. “Now, I think we’ve talked enough about Jack for one day,” she said with a teasing smile. “How about we go back to enjoying the evening? We can make it about us for once.”

Maya grinned, wiping away the remnants of her unease. “I like the sound of that.” She leaned in and kissed Carina softly, her lips lingering against hers before pulling back.
