Barty groaned. Was apologizing always so hard? At least Regulus wasn’t ignoring him anymore. But it’s not like he could invite Regulus to his and James’ relationship when things were so rocky. He looked again at their dry messages and he fell onto the bed on his back. Would it be a bad idea to call Reggie…
Oh, never mind. He was already doing that.
“I can tell you miss me.,” Was the first thing Barty said after Regulus picked up his call.
“Yeah? How did you guess?” Barty could hear Regulus’ annoyance. “Was it me being dry or lack of any interest?”
“Well, I’m not blocked by you yet, so there’s that.”
“Why would I block you? You’d stalk me anyway.”
Barty scoffed. It was true, though.
“... I don’t wanna fight with you anymore,” Barty clicked his tongue. “Can we please stop fighting?”
“Can you stop spilling liquids on Remus?”
“Well, there’s one specific liquid I wanna spill on you.”
“Disgusting.”
And yet, Barty could feel a soft chuckle leaving from Regulus’ mouth. It was the prettiest sound he ever heard. He wanted to share it with James. He wanted to love and to be loved by them both.
“I’m sorry, Regulus,” Barty finally managed to say those magic words. “I was jealous. I thought you liked Remus better than me. I don’t want you to like anybody better than me.”
“You like someone better than me.”
“I don’t.”
The silence was overwhelming. Barty felt a sudden urge to confess, to plead and beg. But he knew he was impulsive and making such a drastic decision without James would be unfair to both Jamie and Reggie.
“... Consider yourself forgiven.”
“Thank you, Reggie.”
More silence and comforting breaths shared through a speaker. Barty was tempted to fall asleep like this, but then he remembered.
“Did you hear that Severus is back in town?”
“What?”
Barty grinned to himself. He knew he was forgiven and ke knew they will spend their night on gossips.
