Chapter 2
-REGULUS BLACK-
He'd been talking to a certain someone, that certain someone just so happened to be his boyfriend Barty Crouch Jr, who, did not like his brother, Sirius, at all.
So you can imagine Bartys annoyance when Sirius came up behind Regulus and dragged him away.
He would have laughed at the look on Bartys face, but he was, pretty much, being kidnapped by his older brother, so Regulus wasn't to happy either.
If he didn't know any better Regulus would have thought Sirius had taken him here to kill him, it was the perfect place, no people, secluded...
"Sirius, what, what, are you doing?" He heard himself ask, voice filled with his usual frustration.
He was hoping that Sirius hadn't caught onto everything, but Sirius had always been smarter than he led everyone on to believe, and that's why Regulus would have to be so very careful with his words.
"Reggie, I-I need you to answer me this, and I need you to be completely honest with me, n-no messing about, alright?" Sirius cried, Regulus could feel Sirius' warm grey eyes piercing his cold ones, he could feel the intensity in his brothers gaze radiating of him, and immediately, Regulus knew this would not end well.
Despite his fear for the rest of this conversation he gave Sirius a short nod.
"I'm being serious Regulus, really, I am," Sirius cried, placing his hands onto Regulus' shoulders, shaking him slightly to be sure that he got just important this was.
Regulus would have recoiled back if he hadn't missed Sirius so much, more than he would ever care to admit.
He could feel the mask he put on around everyone but Barty, Pandora, Evan and Dorcas, slip, which he knew Sirius would find slightly entertaining.
"Sirius, what is it, you're slightly frightening at the moment," He said, he knew if he let Sirius hold him any longer his entire facade would fall, and he'd be left defenceless from the inevitable, but that desicion just made Sirius hold onto him as if he were a life line.
"Regulus, is it true, is, is, Merlin, I can't say it," Sirius sighed, tilting his head up so that it was looking up at the murky sky.
Regulus stiffened, he hoped Sirius wouldn't have noticed, but of course he did, of course.
He saw Sirius' face slip into a look of scared sorrow, and that's when Regulus realised he was so, so, so stupid...
"Is, what true?"
"Regulus..."
He felt like his body was on auto-pilot, because on a normal occasion he wouldn't have lifted his arm up, he wouldn't have pulled his sleeve up and he wouldn't have waited for Sirius to look, Sirius to realise, realise he was just like their parents, he was evil.
Regulus didn't actually think Sirius would care about the other thing, he thought Sirius would see the dark mark and would leave, just turn around and leave Regulus' life, for the last time.
But he couldn't be more wrong because when Sirius yanked his arm towards his own face, he felt the uneven breaths hit his arm, and then he saw a sheet of, was that, tears? In his older brothers eyes...
He felt his own tears start to pile up, but he couldn't let them go, because this wasn't supposed to be happening, he wasn't supposed to be here with Sirius, he was supposed to be with Barty.
"Why, why would you, Reggie, why..." Sirius whispered, Regulus saw body shaking sobs, rack through Sirius, and he couldn't help but wonder if, he, Regulus Arcturus Black, meant this much to anyone.
Regulus followed Sirius' eyes up and down his textured skin, it was an awful sight, he felt his own eyebrows knit together when he properly registered Sirius' question, but he seemed to have understood, because he did clarify what he meant.
"I mean both, Regulus, why would you do this to yourself, how could you let this happen, how, why, how could, fuck Reg," Sirius hiccuped, Rehulus felt Sirius' forehead on his arm, fresh, wet drops of tears soon following.
"All you ever wanted was to fight with them, I was only trying to survive her chaos..." Regulus whispered, letting his silent tears hug his cheeks, finally letting his oppressed anger and saddness at the world go, here with his brother, alone, away from the worlds prying eyes, he felt good after letting it go, but he couldn't make the same mistake twice.
"Well look how that's payed off," Sirius murmured, quiteing his now small and occasional hiccups.
Regulus shook his head, he had to get a grip of himself, he had to put on his new, uncaring persona, and fast, or else it may never go back on.
"How long..."
"I've had the mark since August..."
"No I-I mean, the other thing," Sirius stated, looking up at Regulus, he turned his head away, away from Sirius' attempt at eye contact.
He felt himself still, and again, he knew Sirius noticed, he just, he didn't want to pain his brother with the knowledge the knowledge that he started this...
"Summer you left..."
Regulus looked back at Sirius as the other looked down with wide eyes, he paled slightly, but Regulus saw it hidden in his features, the pity, the pity he didn't need, especially not from Sirius, the pity he saw on Bartys and Pandoras face when they found out, the pity, pity, pity...
Regulus finally caught grasp of his mask, he yanked it on as he yanked his arm back, this was it, this was the moment he would walk, away, not Sirius, not this time, him...
Time was always harsh on Regulus, always causing him grief, but this time, time had really outdone itself, he usually didn't like blaming his problems on other people, but time itself was fine, right?
Time had decided to bring him into the world at the worst moment, so, as Regulus walked to the pedestal with a murky potion swirling about, he didn't blame the dark lord, he didn't blame the order, he didn't blame anything for his inevitable death, but time...
To the dark lord,
I know I will be dead long before you read this,
But I want you to know that it was I who discovered your secret.
I have stolen the real horcrux and intend to destroy it as soon as I can,
I face death,
In the hope that when you meet your match you will be mortal once more...
No one was to blame but time, it had taken so much from him, his life being the first and last...
