It wasn't his refusal to continue going on courtships that had broken her heart, it was seeing him as Lord Voldemort, the darkest Lord since Morded the Betrayer, that had done it.

Heiress Hefina Potter was shocked the day Mister Tom Riddle had terminated their courtships. They were one away from their seventh courtship date, the threshold of exclusivity. Her older brother, Heir Charlus Potter, had attempted to reason with Tom but that had only ended in an argument making the situation worse.

Hefina honestly didn't know what to do. Tom was her first love. It's common knowledge in Avalon that when a Potter falls in love, they fall hard. If Hefina was a Black her sanity for sure would've shattered. She was just so sure that Tom was the one, her soulmate. Tom wasn't the type of Newblood to just play with Pureblood Heiress' hearts for fun -- was he?

Hefina could feel her eyes starting to fill with tears as she laid down on her bed. Tom had accepted her bouquet of interest, even though it was more common for the men to offer such things first. Was she just a game to him? Were there courtships just mere dates to him?

"Why did you even accept my offer in the first place if you weren't planning on being serious about it?" Hefina sobbed as she slowly got up from her bed.

She had been lying in bed for four days straight now. Her parents and brother had attempted to enter her room but were unable to because of the spells she had placed upon her door. Only the House elves could enter her room and even they couldn't convince her to leave or even just get up. Now though, she's prepared. Hefina has spent four days now crying over a Newblood who had never even cared about her. "He's probably bragging about it to his fellow Slytherins right now. "

She knew that was untrue, as most Slytherins hate people who play with others hearts, but she just couldn't help but believe it. Awhile ago, during the second day of her just mopping around her room, she overheard Charlus yelling about Heir Theodred Nott becoming Tom's vassal.

Annoyed she quickly put her hair up into a messy bun and slammed her feet into her slippers. Hefina glared at her letters from Tom, "If Tom thinks he can make a fool of me, he better think twice. " When Hefina shows up to Hogwarts in a few months for her final year, she won't show an ounce of sadness in front of anyone. Grabbing the old letters from Tom, she charmed away the protective spells on them and threw them into the fireplace, which was on the opposite wall - facing her bed.

Hefina felt a twinge of guilt for burning these memories but she knew that they were no longer the memories she wanted to keep. If Tom didn't care for them, then why should she?

It's been close to seven years since Riddle had terminated their courtships and now, as she's reading the latest Daily Prophet, she's glad he did.

'New Dark Lord on the Rise!' was the title of today's Daily Prophet. But that's not what's caught her eye. What's caught her eyes was the the Dark Lord himself. There's no mistaking that face-- the face that had once haunted her nightmares. That's Tom Riddle. Unlike his followers, he choose not to wear a mask. This photo the photographer had taken was of Riddle himself.

Hefina had always known that something about Riddle was a little off. But she never thought he'd murder muggles and Newbloods. Sure he had terminated their courtships but this was just . . .

This wasn't the Riddle she had known. Him terminating their courtships had nearly snapped her heart into two but seeing him as this Dark Lord, seeing him as Voldemort, shattered it.
