Ball night

Hermione Pov
Today was the Halloween costume ball and since it was a new event the professors said they were going to be doing things differently by calling out the arrivals as they entered the ball. Ron asked me to the ball a few days ago and we were dressed as Wendy and Woody from Toy story. We didn’t know who Harry was going with since Ginny and Luna were going together and when we asked he just scowled with a blush on his face and walked away.
Me and Ron walk in the ball after our names are announced and see Harry already there with …. Draco Malfoy?!
Draco was wearing a gryffindor robe with his hair tied into a ponytail and a red ribbon around it and Harry was wearing a slytherin robe. They were talking and blushing? What the hell?
Me and Ron snuck over to them and watched from a distance because it seemed we were the only ones to see them so far.
{ As we observed Harry and Draco from their hidden spot, they exchanged puzzled glances. This was not something they had ever expected to see. Harry and Draco, of all people, standing together, talking, and blushing? It was as if the world had turned upside down.
"Is this really happening, or am I seeing things?" Ron whispered, his voice a mix of shock and disbelief.
Hermione shook her head, equally bewildered. "No, you're not seeing things. They're definitely... talking. And blushing. Harry and Draco."
Ron frowned, his eyes narrowing as he continued to watch the scene unfold. "But why are they dressed like that? It's like they've swapped houses or something."
I bite my lip, my mind racing to find an explanation. "I don't know, Ron. But look at how they're acting. They're not fighting or even glaring at each other. They seem... comfortable."
He snorted, still skeptical. "Comfortable? With Malfoy? I never thought I'd see the day."
As we continued to watch, they saw Draco say something that made Harry laugh, a genuine, relaxed laugh that I hadn't seen from him in a long time. Draco's smirk softened into something that almost resembled a smile, and he reached out to adjust the red ribbon in his hair, which matched the one tied around Harry's wrist.
"Okay, this is really weird," Ron muttered, shaking his head in disbelief. "But, you know... I think they actually look kind of happy."
I nodded slowly, still trying to wrap my head around the situation. "They do. And I suppose, if Harry's happy, then we should be happy for him. Even if it is... Malfoy."
Just as I finished speaking, the doors to the ballroom opened again, and more students began to arrive, their names being announced as they entered. We knew it was only a matter of time before others noticed Harry and Draco together.
"What do we do now?" Ron asked, glancing nervously around the room. "Should we go talk to them?"
I hesitated, considering our options. "Maybe we should give them some space for now. Let them enjoy the evening without us barging in. If they want to tell us what's going on, they will."

“Yeah you're probably right” “Even if it is Fucking weird”
I chuckle “Look at you sounding american”

Harry pov
Harry fidgeted with the cuff of his Slytherin robe, his fingers tracing the smooth fabric as he waited near the entrance of the ballroom. He couldn’t believe he was doing this—wearing Slytherin colors, meeting Draco Malfoy of all people, and at a Halloween ball where everyone would be watching. But the past few months had been full of surprises, and this was just another one in a long line of things he never expected.
Draco arrived a few minutes later, his Gryffindor robe contrasting sharply with his usual appearance. His platinum blond hair was tied back in a ponytail, held together with a red ribbon that matched the one Harry wore on his wrist. Harry felt a surge of nervousness as Draco approached, but the familiar smirk on Draco’s face was softer now, almost… warm.
“You actually wore it,” Draco said, his voice low but tinged with something that almost sounded like relief.
Harry shrugged, trying to play it cool, though he could feel the heat rising to his cheeks. “Yeah, well, it’s not every day a Slytherin asks me to a ball. Figured I’d play along.”
Draco chuckled softly, his eyes glinting with amusement. “Who would’ve thought, Potter, that you’d be so agreeable? And here I was, prepared for you to hex me the moment I suggested it.”
Harry rolled his eyes, but a smile tugged at his lips. “I’m full of surprises, Malfoy. You should know that by now.”
Draco’s smirk widened, and he stepped closer, lowering his voice as he glanced around the room. “I suppose I should. But honestly, I wasn’t sure you’d go through with it. I mean, a Slytherin robe? That’s quite a statement.”
Harry shrugged again, but this time it was more out of nervous habit than nonchalance. “I guess… I guess I wanted to try something different. It’s been a rough few years, and I’m tired of all the old grudges. I’m tired of being stuck in the past. And maybe… maybe I wanted to see what it would be like, you know? Not being enemies.”
Draco’s expression softened, and for a moment, Harry saw a vulnerability in his eyes that he hadn’t noticed before. “I know what you mean,” Draco admitted quietly. “It’s been a rough few years for me too. I’ve done a lot of thinking… about everything. About us.”
The way Draco said “us” made Harry’s heart skip a beat. It wasn’t just about Gryffindor versus Slytherin anymore. It was about them—Harry and Draco, two people who had spent so much time on opposite sides, finally trying to find some middle ground.
“Maybe… maybe this is our chance to start over,” Harry said, his voice barely above a whisper. “No more house rivalry, no more fighting. Just… a fresh start.”
Draco nodded slowly, his gaze locked on Harry’s. “A fresh start sounds good. Better than good, actually. It sounds… necessary.”
Harry felt a strange sense of relief wash over him, as if a weight he hadn’t even realized he was carrying had been lifted. “So… what do we do now?”
Draco glanced around the ballroom, where students were beginning to filter in, their names announced as they entered. “We could just enjoy the ball. Talk. Dance, maybe. Merlin knows that’ll get everyone’s attention,” he added with a smirk.
Harry laughed, the tension easing between them. “Yeah, that would certainly give everyone something to talk about.”
They stood in comfortable silence for a moment, the noise of the arriving students fading into the background. It was strange, Harry thought, how natural it felt to be here with Draco, of all people. But maybe that was the point—maybe this was the new normal.
“Shall we?” Draco asked, offering his arm in a surprisingly formal gesture.
Harry hesitated for only a second before taking it, feeling a strange thrill as they walked together into the ballroom, side by side. The whispers started almost immediately, but for once, Harry didn’t care. Let them talk, he thought. Let them see.
For tonight, he wasn’t the Boy Who Lived, and Draco wasn’t the Slytherin Prince. They were just Harry and Draco, and that was enough.

****
The grand entrance to the Halloween costume ball was filled with anticipation, the room buzzing as students mingled and talked about who would show up next. The professors had made it clear that this was going to be a night to remember, with each group’s arrival being announced as they entered.
The chatter quieted when the doors swung open, revealing the next group of arrivals.
"Presenting... Nico di Angelo and Will Solace, Leo Valdez and Calypso, Annabeth Chase, Percy Jackson, and Jason Grace!" the announcer called, his voice carrying through the ballroom.
The room fell into a stunned silence as the demigods entered.
Nico led the group, his all-black cowboy outfit making him look like he’d stepped out of a dark Western movie. The embroidered designs on his shirt caught the light as he walked, and his cowboy hat cast a shadow over his eyes, giving him an air of mystery. But it was Will who drew reactions from the crowd—his pleated skirt and checkered shirt were an unexpected but perfect complement to Nico’s attire. He looked shy but adorable, his cheeks pink as he glanced around the room, although clearly in his comfort zone while twirling next to nico.
Leo and Calypso followed closely behind.
Annabeth, Percy, and Jason brought up the rear. With their Alvin and the chipmunks trio
The students were confused, but all were captivated by the group. Whispers spread like wildfire as the Hogwarts students tried to figure out who the demigods were cosplaying and what their costumes meant.
“But it was Harry and Draco’s reactions that were the most interesting. Harry watched the group with wide eyes, taking in the confident way they entered the room, the way they seemed so effortlessly connected. Draco, standing beside him, raised an eyebrow, his lips curling into an intrigued smirk.
“Now those are some costumes,” Draco remarked, his eyes lingering on Nico and Will.
“Yeah,” Harry agreed, though his mind was racing. There was something about these new arrivals—something that felt different, almost magical.
As the demigods made their way deeper into the room, they caught the eyes of nearly everyone present. But instead of shying away, they embraced the attention, their confidence setting them apart from the rest. For a moment, it felt like they were in control of the entire room, and the Hogwarts students couldn’t help but be drawn to their energy.
Finally, as they reached the center of the ballroom, Leo turned to the others with a mischievous grin. “Alright, who’s ready to party?” he called out, his voice full of excitement.
The room erupted into cheers and laughter, and just like that, the tension broke. The Hogwarts students, still curious but now more intrigued than ever, began to relax and enjoy the party, though they couldn’t stop stealing glances at the demigods, wondering just how that amount of confidence was achieved.
