Chapter one

In every universe Spider man falls in love with Gwen Stacy. In every other universe it doesn’t end well. James had hoped his universe would be different. He was wrong.

James woke up to his alarm clock blaring in his ear. He groaned rolling away from the noise in hopes to sleep in just a few more minutes.

“JAMES YOUR GOING TO BE LATE AGAIN” a voice yells from somewhere in his cramped apartment. James opened his eyes and looked around his room. He had papers and books scattered around his small desk and clothes piled up on the floor. He knew if his mom saw the state of his room she would tell him to clean it. Thankfully he didn’t live with his mom anymore. He did however live with his best friend Peter who was probably going to come into his room any minute if he didn’t get up soon.

It really wasn’t James fault he kept sleeping in and being late to all his classes. He was a good student; he just had a hard time balancing a healthy school work balance. James didn’t have a normal job either because he didn’t work at a gas station or a grocery store. No, James was a superhero and spent his days saving people from just about anything. Which usually meant late nights and waking up sore all over with a massive headache.

So it really isn’t his fault he’s become such a bad student he can’t help it! Besides, it's not like he has a team of superheroes to help him. He saves the city by himself. The people have named him Spider-Man which he thinks is a bit on the nose. He doesn’t mind though as long as everyone is safe he doesn’t care what they call him.

James rolled out of bed stretching his sore muscles. He stood looking around his room trying to find his glasses. He really didn’t need them but he liked to think they made him look cooler. He found them thrown on the floor and picked them up.

He put on his glasses and quickly got dressed grabbing his bag and running out the door. His roommate and best friend Peter was in the tiny kitchen holding a cup of coffee reading something on his phone. He looked up as James stumbled into the room giving his a slightly disappointed look. James waved grabbing a random breakfast bar and putting on his shoes.

"You really need to start waking up earlier you can't keep getting to class late" his friend said shaking his head and looking back down at his phone.

"I know I know and one day I will wake up early! It's just today is not that day" he replies running towards the door.

"James you say that every morning" Peter sighs.

"Yes and one of these day it will be true!" James says over his shoulder as he ran down the hallway. He really hadn't ment to sleep in he just had a long night and didn't hear his alarm.

He had stopped two robberies, a mugging, and helped an old lady cross the road. So yeah he slept in just a little bit but honestly James deserved it! Being late to class was only a small problem that James could worry about later. Right now James had to worry about actually getting to class. Luckily James and Peter didn't live too far away from their college. James ran through the streets towards his college cursing under his breath for sleeping in again. He made it to his class only being a few minutes late and only slightly out of breath. He quietly sat down in an empty seat and let out a relieved sigh. His professor ignored his tardiness and continued giving the lecture.

James quickly started taking notes trying to catch up on what he missed. It would have been fine if today had been the only day he was late but as stated earlier James had a habit of being late. He knew if he would just show up to class on time he would have a much easier time in all his classes but he had people to save and alarms to ignore so that would never happen.

About ten minutes into the lecture James felt a slight tap on his shoulder. James looked up from his notes to see a boy handing him some papers. The boy looked well… he looked beautiful. He had short black hair that was slightly curled. He had gray stormy eyes that seemed to be staring into his own eyes. His face was unreadable and James wanted nothing more than to continue staring into his eyes and learn everything about him. Instead James gave him a confused look tilting his head slightly to the side.

The boy let out an annoyed sigh and handed the papers into James' hands. “It’s notes on the class so you don’t fail” he said quietly.

James never believed in love at first sight but this boy. James thinks he is in love. That was a stupid thought to have. He had no idea who this boy was. He didn’t even know his name.

“Erm thanks” James says, taking the papers from the mystery boy's hand.

“I’m James by the way” he quickly said, holding out his hand for the boy to shake.

The boy didn’t reply and just turned away from James, ignoring him completely. James looked down at the notes the boy had handed him and immediately noticed his handwriting.

If this boy was beautiful then his handwriting was breathtaking. James never knew someone could even have such good handwriting? It just wasn’t humanly possible which means this boy was simply out of this world.

The lecture ended and students began collecting their things and filing out of the classroom. The mystery boy began packing his bag standing up to walk away. James grabbed his arm not wanting to lose him just yet.

“You never said your name,” he said quickly.

The boy turned and gave James a confused look. “You don’t know who I am” he asked, staring at James like he had two heads.

“Uhhh should I?” The boy pulled his arm away and shook his head walking away from James.

“I’ll see you tomorrow James” he said before walking out of the lecture hall leaving James stunned.

James had met his Gwen Stacy for better or for worse.
