Jegulus has my heart <3

"Stay quiet,"

Regulus commanded, his beaming breath breaking the silence that had been engulfing the two boys. The air was heavy with tension and their hearts pounded in synchrony.

James obeyed and quickly swallowed the words that lay on his tongue. Words that would only exacerbate the predicament that they found themselves in.

The dim light of the moon seeped through the small cracks in the wooden panels of the broom closet, casting faint shadows on the faces of James and Regulus. They stood pressed against the back wall, their breaths shallow and hurried, their hearts racing with the adrenaline of the moment. Outside, the corridors of the deserted school echoed with the distant sounds of footsteps, a clear indication that they were not alone.

Regulus shot a warning glance at James , his eyes narrowed with intensity. James nodded in agreement; his lips pressed tightly together to suppress any stray sound that might betray their presence. His mind raced, searching for a way out of the mess they had stumbled into. But as his thoughts churned, he couldn't shake the feeling of unease that settled like a lead weight in the pit of his stomach.
Regulus , ever the strategist, leaned in closer, his breath warm against James’s ear. "We need to wait it out," he whispered, his voice laced with urgency. "If they catch us now, it's game over." The soft words let shivers spiral down James’s back.

James clenched his jaw, frustration bubbling beneath the surface. He hated feeling so vulnerable, especially in front of Regulus. Every moment spent in the cramped closet only intensified his feelings for the other boy, feelings he had long tried to suppress. But he couldn't deny the flutter of his heart whenever Regulus was near, the way his presence seemed to light up even the darkest of moments. And as much as James longed to break free from their confinement, a part of him secretly relished the opportunity to be so close to Regulus to bask in the warmth of his presence. He knew that risking their safety was foolish, but the thought of Regulus being in danger made his blood run cold. So, he swallowed his pride and followed Regulus lead, trusting that together they would find a way out of this mess. “Okay we’ll wait” James blurted a slight smile shimmering through the darkness.

Regulus studied his expression and opened his mouth about to say something in return then quickly closed his mouth a turned away.

As the minutes stretched into eternity, the silence between them became almost suffocating, broken only by the occasional creak of the old broom closet door. James could feel the tension building with each passing second, threatening to engulf them in its suffocating embrace.

Suddenly, the sound of footsteps grew louder, closer, until they seemed to reverberate through the very walls around them. James’s heart leaped into his throat, his muscles tensing in anticipation of discovery. But Regulus remained steadfast beside him, his expression stoic as he prepared for whatever came next. James held his breath, his eyes wide with fear as he braced himself for the inevitable confrontation.

But to his surprise, the figure paused in front of the door then disappeared once again into the corridor, leaving James and Regulus alone in the suffocating silence of the broom closet.
Relief flooded through James like a warm embrace, his tension melting away as he sank to the floor, his back pressed against the cold wooden panels.

Regulus joined him moments later, a small smile tugging at the corners of his lips. “That was close” he said softly, his eyes meeting James’s. James nodded in agreement, his mind still reeling from the intensity of the moment.

As they sat in the darkness, the air thick with relief, James couldn't shake the lingering adrenaline coursing through his veins. He stole a glance at Regulus, illuminated by the faint moonlight filtering through the cracks. His heart fluttered as he found himself captivated by Regulus's features, the way the shadows danced across his face.

"You know," James began, his voice barely above a whisper, "I've never felt so alive as I do right now."

Regulus turned to him, his brow furrowed in confusion. "Alive? We are just hiding in a broom closet, James."

James chuckled softly, the sound echoing in the small space. "But think about it, Reg The thrill of the unknown, the rush of adrenaline... it's exhilarating."

Regulus’s lips twitched into a smile, amusement dancing in his eyes. "You're a strange one, James. Finding excitement in the most mundane situations."

"Maybe I just have a knack for turning ordinary moments into extraordinary ones," James replied, his tone playful.

Regulus chuckled, shaking his head in amusement. "Or maybe you're just delusional."

James grinned, his heart pounding with a newfound boldness. "Or maybe," he said, leaning closer to Regulus, "I'm just trying to make the most of our time together."

Regulus’s breath caught in his throat, his gaze locking with James's. The air between them crackled with tension, the space around them shrinking until there was nothing but the heat of their shared breaths.
"James..." Regulus's voice was barely a whisper, uncertainty flickering in his eyes.

But before he could say another word, James closed the distance between them, capturing Regulus's lips in a soft, lingering kiss. Time seemed to stand still as they lost themselves in each other, the world outside fading into nothingness.

When they finally pulled away, their breaths mingling in the darkness, James couldn't help but smile. "See? Ordinary moments can be quite extraordinary, don't you think?"

Regulus’s eyes sparkled with newfound understanding, a smile tugging at the corners of his lips. "Yeah," he whispered, his voice barely audible over the pounding of their hearts.

"Yeah, they can be."
