OCTOBER FIFTEENTH 1979
Regulus couldn’t breath.
He could feel the Inferi clawing at his skin with short, chipped nails, mauling at his skin and causing cuts. He’s sure if his eyes were open he would be able to see his own scarlet coloured blood — but the water stings. The salt water stung every cut the Inferius were causing, desperately trying to heal it but the Inferni were persistent, continuing to scar and scratch at his body.
Regulus wanted to scream, but it would only turn up as pathetic bubbles. No one would hear him. No one would miss him. His mother was losing her sanity, his father was half dead and couldn’t even speak. Orion, a once respectable pureblood had been resorted to a gurgling mess. And Sirius hates his guts. It was a universally known fact, no matter how much it hurt.
Maybe his friends would miss him? Then again he highly doubted it. Evan was too caught up in killing muggles and muggleborns to care and Barty. Regulus’s barely thumping heart ached at the thought of Barty. Rebellious Barty, now a manic bigot who takes joy in murder. Regulus had loved Barty once, and Barty had adored Regulus back. Now he wasn’t too sure.
He hasn’t seen Pandora in years, nor Dorcas, and he wondered if they would mourn him. Maybe not mourn his present self, perhaps they would mourn the friend they lost, the boy he once was. Because in the end Regulus was no man. He was a coward. A pathetic coward.
Regulus could feel the burning sensation of water filling his lungs, his body began to go limp. It had no more energy to fight against the inferi, nor stopping his magic, which was slowly evaporating as he began to die.
His world turned blindingly white before he clamped his eyes shut.
“I’m not done with you yet, Regulus Black,” A voice said, a deep gravelly voice in his head.
Regulus has began to feel tingly, as though he was being transported, but he quietly wondered in his head if he was just now getting a glimpse of Black madness, just how unlucky could this day be?
his eyes were clamped shut, until he didn’t feel wet anymore, which was odd, but he continued to feel a burning sensation in his lungs, and he could still, very clearly feel the new scars lining his arms and legs, and probably everywhere.
“Regulus, Hello?”
Regulus’s eyes snapped open.
