Just a dream away
A sound of buzzing filled my ears, as I tried to see where it was coming from. "You alright there?" The blurry figure had asked, as long arm reached for Remus's shoulder.
As he tried to focus on the figure in front of him, squinting, but the blurriness, it wouldn't even leave the body vivid, but all that he could see was the slim pale arm in front of him.
The touch felt so foreign but so natural at the same time, like it was meant to be there; a touch that had never been there but still lingered.
Reaching a hand out, trying to grasp what had seemed like everything he had been searching for; if he could not feel, then he could at least touch.
The curve of their face, the bridge of their nose, how warm and right they felt; His second hand came around, and combed through the hair that flowed just below the figure's shoulders, so silky and smooth, like long black inked strokes.
"What-" Remus tried to ask the figure, but just as he opened his mouth to speak it felt like it was quickly being filled with soap, as he felt his body being so quickly pulled back to reality.
"Holy fuck." Inhaling sharply through his nose, as his chest raised and fell to the sound of his beating heart.
The sweat collecting on his forehead and body feeling so sticky against his clothes and covers, like he wasn't supposed to be back here yet; like his subconscious had came back to quickly.
There wasn't enough time.
There’s never enough time.
He was supposed to be back there with them.
"Sirius!" James yelled, yanking off his friend’s headphones as he was too busy finishing up on their very last client of the day.
The black haired boy whipped around, putting down his cherished tattoo gun which had 'black dog' engraved into it with fancy writing, from when he first got it at their high school graduation courtesy of the lovely Euphemia Potter (James's mum, bless her).
He had just looked back and gave James a plastered smile as he turned back to their client.
"Your finished now, you can go up to the lovely red head on the front desk for the information on how to clean it yeah?" Sirius had smiled at the client, as they got up and waved him goodbye, before descending out the door.
"You tosser, what the fuck?" His smile was quickly erased just like how it had quickly appeared, as he scowled at his intruding friend.
James had just rolled his eyes, and slapped the back of Sirius's head, who was now wincing at the impact and holding the back of his head.
"Shut up and listen, Reggie just messaged me about the new showing at the gallery!" He smiled excitedly now shoving his phone into Sirius's face.
"Ugh prongs get that out of my face before you knock me out with it." shoving it aside, as he dug into his pocket to look at his own phone.
His screen had popped up with at least over +9 notifications from Instagram and only 1 missed call and message from Regulus.
'There's going to be a new showing by an up and coming artist. You better come with James'
Sirius groaned, as James just smiled and flopped onto the near by chair with a dopey smile, as he stared at his phone.
"Oi! No daydreaming about my little brother on the job" He threw the pillow that was on the bed that clients usually lay down on during sessions with him, as James dodged it, getting out of the chair laughing, as he stumbled out of the room.
Taking a deep breath, Sirius placed his tattoo gun down while moving his position to the chair that James had just left barren, rechecking the notification before dropping his head, resting it on the on the spindle of the chair.
"Fuck." He sighed, as he eyes had felt so heavy, he was tired from the entire day, going through appointment to appointment had taken a toll on him.
Sirius had felt the waves of sleep coming over him, as he felt like he was getting heavier and heavier until all he could see was dark black of the inside of his eyelids.
"Oh, your here again." The brown haired figure had spoken as his face was still blurred but over the last few nights they had became more clearer and clearer.
The white scars that decorated their tan skin as their beautiful brown curls became more apparent; they were taller then Sirius but was more skinnier.
He could start hearing their voice by 3 weeks into this strange but meaningful strings of repetitive dreams.
"It's you again." Sirius had spoken, as he tried to reach out for the figure, touching the curve of their shoulder as his hand tried to travel to their face.
They chuckled as the tall figure did the same.
"Why can't I see you..?" Sirius whispered looking up at the figure.
"Do you want to?" They asked as they tilted their head at him.
"Yes"
"Can I see you then?"
"Yes."
As if they had broken the final barrier between them, their faces had become so clear, that the feeling itself resembled a beautiful night out with the the night air blowing through your hair after a long day.
Remus's eyes were quick to look and memorize every feature that the had become so prominent.
Sirius was doing the same but slower, savouring what had finally been revealed to him.
"Your beautiful." The two of them had said unanimously, as they both laughed.
"I can finally see you" Remus had brought his hand to comb through the long jet black hair of the other.
"I'm glad that I can finally see you." Sirius had breathed out a deep breath as they both leaned in, foreheads touching and just savouring this moment, not wanting the pull of reality to come find them, in their cosy little rabbit hole.
They both had finally seen what they had been waiting for, but trying to find the other in this big world, outside of their rabbit hole was going to be something the both would either win or lose trying.
