College Days
Summary
Modern marauders AU. They are all in college just living life. Remus hates Sirius at first because he thinks he's full of himself (he is) but he falls eventually. It's a "Sirius falls first Remus falls harder" situation, yknow? Lily and James are both nursing students, just felt fitting, idk. Non-cannon compliant, obviously.
Note
Welcome all! Hope ya'll enjoy this fluffy little fic! Not fully sure where I'm going with this to be completely honest--this is just for fun. I've got some ideas, though, and I'm excited to see where this goes :)

Sirius Black

It doesn’t take Remus very long to decide that he absolutely despises Sirius Black.
He’s two months into his first semester, and he has settled into a lovely little routine. He has classes every weekday, and afterwards, he spends a couple of hours in a nearby coffee shop to work on homework before heading back to his dorm to work on… more homework. He spends his Saturdays with Lily, and then Sunday is devoted to more studying.
At this coffee, shop, though, they have live music. Usually mediocre college bands that Remus doesn’t care for much. They aren’t terrible, though, and there are a few gems scattered throughout. One band, though, has taken to performing more frequently. Sirius Black, as he introduces himself prior to their bands performance, is a tidy collection of everything Remus hates. He’s pretentious. He’s full of himself. He has an ego the size of the sun. And of course he plays guitar, and is absolutely gorgeous, so the coffee shop has quickly filled with his fans, of which he has far, far too many. This turns Remus’ quiet study spot, something of a hole in the wall that he was rather pleased with himself to have discovered, into a hotspot. Remus, the stubborn bastard that he is, can’t bring himself to find a new study spot. So he continues in his routine, getting very little studying done, stewing in his hatred for Sirius black.
Remus: Lily this man is an absolute idiot, I can’t take much more of this.
Remus has taken to informing Lily every time Sirius is an idiot. Which as turned into every day that Sirius performs, which used to be once a week but is now… every single day, except Friday, when Remus gets a blessed reprieve.
Lily: What did he do this time.
Remus: He has groupies, Lily. He’s in a college band that performs in coffee shops and he has half a dozen girls who are claiming to have followed him all over town to all of his gigs. He knows them all by name, for gods sake.
Lily: He sounds like a prick
Remus: He’s just stringing all these poor girls along
Lily: You could always find a new spot
Remus: No, that would be letting him win. I couldn’t bear it.
Lily: Well then stop complaining, I’m trying to seduce my white wale.
Remus: Any progress?
Lily: Not in the slightest
Remus: I’ll let you get back to it then.
Lily: <3
Just as Remus sets his phone down, someone sits down next to him. Remus turns. Usually when the band is within two miles of this place, no one is bothering with coffee, and the bar is empty. In fact, every single stool is empty, and Remus is immediately furious that anyone would choose to sit directly beside him among all those options. I mean, seriously, who does something like that?
Oh. Sirius does. Of course.
Remus was about to ask this idiot to leave, when he turns his head to see that this idiot is in fact, Sirius.
Sirius just grins at him, completely clueless to the social war-crime he has just committed.
“Hello there.” He says rather cheerfully.
“Hi.” Remus says, burying his face in his book immediately after, hoping to leave the interaction there.
“Not a fan, I take it.”
Remus lets out a noncommittal hm. He hates Sirius, yes, but he hates confrontation even more. His bravado from earlier, when he assumed it was just some stranger, has metaled now that the stranger has revealed itself to be the source of all of his strife for the past two weeks.
Sirius orders a coffee, black, the pretentious prick. Remus can’t tell if he’s making a pun off of his own name, but knowing how full of himself he seems to be, he wouldn’t be surprised.
“Why not?” Sirius asks.
Remus just shrugs. How can this man not see that Remus doesn’t want to be bothered. Just to send the point home, Remus flips a page in his book. He wasn’t done with the page, but he just wants Sirius gone.
Sirius pulls a pen from his pocket—who even carries a pen with them anymore, Remus thinks—and flips over the receipt of his coffee.
“Well, if you ever feel like telling me why…” He says while writing something on the receipt before sliding over. Remus sees ten numbers written in clean handwriting, as pretentious as the man who wrote them. “Let me know.” He chugs down the rest of his coffee and stands, winking at Remus. Remus, not able to contain his frustration any longer, crumples the receipt and tosses it casually over his shoulder.
Rather then seem at all turned off my this, Sirius just smiles, winks again, and struts off.
