The Letter

Dazai, after three years of continuously trying to get the whole of Hogwarts to hate him, finally hated them back. Well, the mission. And everyone who was not part of his gang... or Snape, he supposes. He would’ve shown more outward reaction to the letter that was held in his hands if they weren’t having a gang meeting.

The seat to his left (his blind spot) was empty, by his orders (‘If someone becomes a second- second in command, then they can sit there!’) his true intentions hidden under a cloak. Blaise sat on his right, beside Malfoy. Next to the empty chair was Hermione, then the twins beside her. Ron sat next to Draco, and on his other side sat Ginny, and on his other side sat Ginny.

Luna wasn’t yet an official member of the gang yet; just someone who did a few favors for them here and there, so she hasn’t gotten a seat. He's still debating whether or not to blackmail Pansy to join, but he’s leaning on the ‘no’ side. Even so, there was no seat across from him- declaring his leadership in a second. If they ran out of chairs (which they would, when a new member comes along- knowing that the seat to his left is already reserved now) they could just ask the room for more.

The room became less of a club room and more of Dazai’s bedroom. The couch was tucked further away, the singular desks removed and replaced by the large table they sat at, a fireplace was added to one of the walls, lights hung up across the room and the big window was closed by a pair of just as big curtains. The seating arrangement had been organized by Hermione and himself in order to strengthen the other’s bonds.

However, this was only half working. The whole table was yelling (adding to his headache. Aside from Blaise, who sat silently with a smirk) about something he didn’t bother to focus on. The contents of the letter spun in his mind, but he tried to push it back for now. That's a problem for future Dazai. He stared up at the clock hanging above the door (also a new addition) and slipped the letter back into his bag. He cleared his throat. Everyone went silent and acknowledged his presence as the boss. They had all turned to him, too.

“I believe... That it is getting quite late. Some of you have quidditch practice in ten minutes.”

The Weasley brothers looked sheepish. They all stood up at the same time. Ginny and Hermione also looked at each other before joining them at the door.

“We’ve got a Gryffindor study session as well. Sorry, boss.”

He pasted a smile on his face, waving them off.

“Don’t worry about it! I’ll see you all tomorrow morning.”

“See you, Snakey!”

The twins disappeared last, leaving Blaise, Draco and himself. His smile was replaced with a sigh. Blaise seemed a little worried, but Draco looked even worse.

“...Mori’s letter was just his usual nonsense.”

“You excused them five minutes earlier than normal, boss. Surely, there’s something?”

“Let’s just believe him, Draco. He won’t budge if we ask. If that’s all, we can leave you to your thoughts.”

“Ah, you saw through me! Have a nice night. I heard Pansy was out in the commons, she’ll be wondering where you were~”

Dazai watched silently as they left. Mori... What purpose comes in doing that? Dazai stood and drew the curtains on the window closed. He would love to get some sleep, but his mind is stuck on that letter. Being the insomniac freak he is sometimes; he would likely be figuring out what exactly Mori wants him to do with this new... unknown.

‘Dear Dazai-kun,

I hope you’ve been playing your role well. I’ve seen quite a lot about your endeavors on the newspaper. Kouyou is receiving one every week from Lucius, so I’ll be able to check your progress from there. Could you believe that even three years after the incident, the newspapers are still talking about you?

You were much cuter back then. Perhaps, if you wore the dresses I keep packing for you-’

He stopped reading there and skipped the rest of the paragraph. More of Mori’s usual nonsense.

‘-Anyway, I believe that some extra... ‘Help’ may be needed for your following years. Chuuya-kun will be sent out to aid you, posing as a French transfer student. He’s already went out and got his things with the principal a week ago. Once Chuuya gets here, you’re free to use his help however you believe necessary.

On another note, could you please stop getting your owl to mess up my things? It’s starting to get old. She almost ripped a very important document on her last visit! If you’re unable to control your bird, she’ll just have to join you in your next visit with the dogs.

Much Love,

Mori.’

Chuuya. Mori was sending Chuuya, and Dazai didn’t know what to do. Dazai starts absentmindedly tapping his fingers on the wooden surface of the table. Similarly, his foot taps on the stone floor. It echoes around the room. He narrows his eyes. He sighs, before deciding that Chuuya will actually help him. A plan was already forming in his mind. Yes, that’ll be perfect.

“Ah~ Finally, I can get some sleep.”

If he was useless for the mission, at least he’d be able to help with that. A well slept Dazai is a happy Dazai. A happy Dazai will be able to think, and that means the mission won’t go to shit. He stood up from the desk and moved to the lounge. His mind recalled the relevant contents of the letter. He paused, a moment away from crashing into the lounge.

“...Dumbledore went personally?”
