A few days earlier Regulus had attended one of the dark lords meetings. This one was different, it was the first since he understood Voldemort weakness. The first since he had the power to destroy this mad man. At first he thought nothing of it. He just wanted to keep this information in the envantuality he needed it. The major problem is that this information would be the cause of his death. That and the fact that his boyfriends bravour was rubbing off on him. Those stupid gryffundor and their need to save the world.
He promised himself that this wouldn't change how he acted. But he loved James, even if he would never admit it, he truly loved him. Maybe even a bit too close and a bit too much. So much that he wanted to protect him. He wanted his lover to be safe, And the only way for James to be safe was destroying Voldemort. It was dangerous, but still he was thinking about it a lot recently. Day and night, so much so that he had unwillingly calculated a plan.
This is why he was right now in this situation. Time had stopped at him, he looked at the only ray of sunshine that could cross the walls of the cave. It was the end. He it was his last minutes he had to do something. He had to save himself, and if not he had to at least save his boyfriend. Before the poison could get fully through his head, he called Kreacher. "Please Kreacher, promise me to destroy this locket. Destroy it. Please. Sauve-le. Le soleil. le medaillon. Destroy. S'il-te-plaît." his vision was blurred, his legs weak. Merlin were was he? He didn't know. Will Kreacher be able to destroy it? He felt hands clenching around his ankle. The right one, or maybe the left he didn't know. It was the end. The end felt so good. The end smelt of quiditch and wood, sounds like James' voice, felt like his touch. Until the end. Until the water filled his lungs, the filthy creatures start screaming and touch him everywhere. Until he looses his breathe. It hurt. It burn.
All this pain because of love.
All of this because
Regulus loved James as, Icarus loved the sun.
Too close, Too much.
And this love caused their death.
